Radio and Podcasts / Re: Weekly Art Bell Wrap Up Show?

Good Morning All!

I am just taking the pulse on a weekly wrap up show. If you think it is a bad idea, let me know! If you think it would be something fun to do, let me know!

1. It would only be a hobby level program, it is not intended for anything else! i'm not a broadcast professional nor do I want to be one!
2. It would be on mixlr.com, I think some folks might not like to login to mixlr, but it works for the purposes of the format. I wanted to keep it simple and not have to bug the experts on BellGab on how to set up a call in, amazingly small internet show that has very few people listening in.
3. I would never want to in anyway infringe, disrespect or distract from MV, BellGab or any other program...more than likely it would only have a few folks listening...
4. The content will focus on the guests and topics Art covered the previous week...as well has topics and guests that the fans may want to hear...
5. There will be a live stream, open lines, live/archivable chat, and a recorded podcast...

Any feedback is appreciated!

Thanks a lot!

Chefist
I think the idea certainly has potential. If you get it going and it has an RSS feed let us know and I will put it in my podcast aggregator.

I got a little sad when he was talking about radio and how he hoped it would eventually become fun.  This morning's show was great fun for me; I hoped he was having a good time too.  Wild theories aside, he's well-read, uses words I haven't heard in years, has interests that are far broader than I imagined and  I've really grown to like the guy as a nutty uncle -- I guess that's what happens when you just listen to somebody for hours and get to know them.
I agree. He's winning me over gradually. The thing is he has a fascinating mind. Now if he could just say the word he's looking for rather than four or five synonyms it would go much faster.

OK. And now we need to take a look at Ms. Cook. Where was she at the appointed hour:-)

Is there a way to set up this forum to IGNORE a poster. Jackstar is consistently just rude to everyone. I am tired of it.
yes, it can quite easily be done in Bellgab settings.

Listening to the latest episode now.Mudking was kind enough to help me go from Tandy to iOS 8.4 on my iPhone 6. But now he is helping me go from iOS 8.4 to windows 10 and Has been telling me to keep an I on it to make sure it is stable. But my muscle memory I think has atrophied as I go from my mind box to my X-craft.

So was he on or was it open lines? I haven't listened yet
travis was on and he was better than ever. He Used to just be a lumberjack but now 40 years later he's more like a lumberjack/scientist.

All Greer does is spout techno-babble. He'll talk your ear off without really 'saying' anything.

You'll notice this mode of speech with many of these guests. They have this stream of consciousness of their own proprietary buzzwords, Jargon and esoteric terms, all swirling around their own dissociative savior complex. It's like channeling or something.

Andrew Basiago is another of these types. I'm always suspicious of the ones that have this ability to talk non-stop in this way.

These people may make a 'good show'. and I get that Art is a show man, but these guests really aren't going to 'move the needle' in terms of uncovering any new truth.
fascinating post.

I sort of like RCH but often find him increasingly tedious As the show goes on. He doesn't know the meaning of the word succinct.

Art had another similar flat Earth Hoaxter (similar to Steve's guest) on his program last night. One gets the distinct impression that it's what they would like to call performance art, a put on. art had an expert, a man of letters, debate the guy. Sometimes I thought that both guests on arts program were in cahoots on putting out "performance art".
Either that or both of these flat Earther guests were clinically delusional, holding to any rational belief system in the face of any evidence. What psychologist call Idée Fixe.

So what's this? I missed the debate between Steven Bassett and Meryl Streep? :-) Stephen Bassett, what a hound. I fell asleep during open lines.

Yes. As for Motivation I was thinking a vaguely pathological predisposition for paranoia coupled with a shrewd desire to carve a unique Miche for recognitionOn the Internet. Like hoagland he has a bizarre tendency to misinterpret causal connections. and, like Hoagland, he is glib, well spoken and cogent. Yet given all that is steadfast refusal to accept the truth makes me suspect a hoax.
All I could think of was a rather recent view of Earth from one of our spaceships as it turned around and photographed Earth hanging in black space, a tiny blue droplet… A round droplet.

Listened to Mark Sargent show. What a loon. This guy makes hoagland look perfectly sane. Solid and respectful  interviewing skills, Steve. I spent a few minutes trying to decide if the guy was completely nuts and delusional or was hoaxing us. I decided on the latter.

Redacted, I heard your interview with Art. You did a great job and I was very proud of you. And happy for you because I know it meant so much to you. And remember this, no one can ever take your accomplishment away from you.
Because I'm blind I couldn't see you but I could definitely hear the love and joy in your voice.

I used to do some divination, using cards mostly- several non tarot decks. I make no claims of any extraordinary abilities. I find that card readings tap into a person's subconscious. The card layout will give the person a chance to piece together their concerns and fears. In fact, one form of divination is done with a gathering of friends- food, wine, good friends who help interpret the meaning of the tiles that are used in the lay out.

Dare I ask... does anyone use one of those Ouija boards?
about a year or two ago I made a long post about my Ouija board experiences when I was younger. If you search for it and find it you may find it interesting. Some folks here are expert at finding stuff like that, A Bellgab search. I hope they jump in and help you if you're Interested in tracking that post down. The Ouija board that night was making predictions that actually came about.

I agree. I used to listen to it all the time a few years ago but then I lost track of it when I change devices. I have to look it up again and start listening. It's quite unique, like you say. Slowly paste, unhurried and a bit eerie. Great ambient music.

I recall Art talking about this subject on the Nov 2013 gabcast. I believe you asked him directly, or commented on, his bbs/forum in the 90's. The context was in regards to Art being one of the first talk show hosts to take advantage of the internet.

Didn't John Titor post his story in Art's forum (post2post)?

Edit: to include link:

yes, and I was a long-time user when that thread with titor  showed up, actually he was a newbie, very clever. Years later I ran across a thread on a BBS far removed where some people were discussing titor and speculating that I might be him.   Imagine  my surprise.
They were running and analysis of the boards dates and times and concluded that I was a possible candidate to be Titor. I was pretty sure I knew who he was but never confirmed it.

Eddie Dean and Onan, you guys were pondering on the show this week whether art ever had a functioning Bulletin board in the early days. I remember listening to the show and logging in at that board. as I recall it was moderated by Keith and Mary. I have mentioned this a few times in the past in various threads but nobody has ever corroborated it. which surprises me. Let's ask Art.
