Agree with everything you said, and would just like to add that there is nothing about Original Sin in the bible.  Paul/Saul was the first to touch on the idea, while trying to come up with some purpose for Jesus being around in the first place.  It was St. Augustine of Hippo who baked it into the form it assumes today.

The christian religion is stuffed with this sort of hindsight revisionism.  The most acute criticism of this practice I've seen is found in the movie "Life of Brian."  While fleeing some peasants who want to worship him as the Messiah, Brian loses a sandal.  The peasants stop and gaze upon the sandal and ponder the significance.  Some assert that Brian meant for them to worship the sandal, while others claim that it is a sign that they should gather sandals, and still others screech that it should be ignored and stay with the traditional belief (formed minutes before) that they should worship the "holy gourd."  They all splinter off into their own sects, just like christians have done, and continue to do.
nice. In the words of Humphrey Bogart to cloud Rains (in Casablanca), "this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship."I to loved   the exquisite satire in  "life of Brian".

Just listened to b_dubb and MV on The Spec Sheet.

Good work, men!

As a reward for your loyal service to the movement, you win a communist poster turned bassakward into wicked cool libertarian electronic frontier propaganda that might, just ~might~ help save the world:
Yes, it rivaledOnan and b_dubb on the GabCast last Monday discussing sub atomic physics, wave/particle phenomenon , Schroedinger's cat and the relationship if any between quantum physics and consciousness.;-) ;-)

I'm sure I'm not the first to express this line of thought, and some might even view it as the simplistic observation of a theological dunce, but if there's a God and he's all powerful, why doesn't he just defeat Satan and be done with it? If God created all, this means not only is Satan inherently God's creation, but Satan also receives God's tacit approval since his existence and influence are allowed to continue.
Exactly. And this is just one of dozens of major murky illogical tenets. But religious Theologians use sophistry to attempt to explain this issue by saying God wants all his creatures to have free will and Lucifer who started in heaven as an angel exercised his free Will by voting with his feet,  he gathered up his pals and left. Christian theologians decided to accentuate concepts such as Satan and hell as the centuries progressed to encourage people toward morrow social behavior. So God would not interfere. It's the type of reasoning unworthy of a neofight attorney. When theologians tie the various doctrines inherited from previous religions together into one unified belief systems they must resort to explanations that strain or defy credulity or even understanding. In some religions there is no hell. No Satan. No "original sin". As the centuries went by church dogma has included or excluded various beliefs (like reincarnation). As are the various books themselves added or deleted in the Bible  over the centuries after being reassessed by this or that church council.
Just as various cultures throughout history have used the bogeyman or the troll under the bridge to frighten children into desired behavior on a large scale that's what the organized church is doing with Satan which is evil personified. It is a form of reification which is treating an abstraction as if it is real.

i'd say that's one of the worst offenses a host can make. Or at least one of the most glaring.

Well before you go rushing to emotional conclusions based on a few posts, maybe you should look back at the long list of insults thrown my way based solely on my avatar, and my support for the RIGHT of Phil Robertson to believe and express whatever belief he wants.
Okay, Carl. Will do. Thanks.

Tarbaby you haven't challenged a single opinion I have posted with any rational argument, whatsoever, but decided to jump in (on a few other threads) and start the name-calling out of the clear blue sky, because you think you are a genius.

Now you are asking MV to finish your battles for you...

I wager MV disagrees with me, but he has never resorted to 6th grade tactics in doing so - thank God, or Allah, or the black magic that created the big bang and all the matter in the known Universe out of absolutely nothing in the middle of an absolutely nowhere that didn't exist beforehand, just because it wanted to...
oh my. I haven't challenged you on any issues because I don't read your posts. When I started to read your post yesterday I noticed that I did have one specific complaint that I registered which is that you call all your phoes "faggots". And I voiced my objection. I certainly don't think I'm a genius so I don't know why you threw that in there. Again, unwarranted conclusion based on imaginary premise. And I wasn't calling in MV  as back up. But I won't disclose why I asked him for his viewpoint. Don't worry about it.
You really are rather highly strung aren't you? Jumping to conclusions, imagining the worst…

So you failed the "think before proving you're an asshole" test?
well, one of us is failing to think. Let me try it from a different angle, why is it, do you think, that use so uniformly resort to calling your foes  derogatory homosexual epithets? Other thAn the fact that you're just a mean person who spews negativity like a dark volcano.   But why is it always homosexual? Don't get me wrong, I'm not on anyone's side. You lump me in with all my "girlfriends" but I'm actually a neutral observer. My specific protest was your use of the archaic loaded terms like "faggot". Not your nonstop negativity. Maybe calling your foes "faggots" is just a reflexive habit? The worst stab to the back you can think of? But still, it seems telling. And why so much anger? I don't read your posts often but when I do I have never seen a pleasant, friendly or jovial one. But you are* a prodigious thread creator!

was lying in bed at like 3 in the f'ing morning and these two morons that host this show on Dark Matter.
Ryan somebody and Mike D.... sound more like Beavis and Butthead.  To me this show was soo annoying.  They were trying to disparage another host on another network. They must have repeated the phrase "bag of shit" -- and it wasn't censored... they repeated it, back and forth, over and over..they finally agreed on "bag of ebola" which is offensive as hell to me..not funny as people are suffering terribly with this virus.  I hope this show, called "The Secret Teachings" goes away soon.  I won't listen..and I just hope they don't become popular!! That would make me  look like the idiot!!!
These guys have college degrees, obviously in some liberal arts subject..def not math, physics or chemistry.  :P  :bee
if they become popular that wouldn't mean you are stupid. Look at how many  popular things are garbage. e.g., prime time TV, fast food…

Clearly, your little class on reverse psychology failed you...

I guess by your logic all of the names your girlfriends, nitwit, onan, rcdickhead, yorkshire cunt, b-dumb, and now you, are really projections of theirs?

At least try to think before you prove you're an asshole, ok? I know - you guys are rubber and I'm glue - fucking morons.
you misunderstand. Your tendencies may not be conscious. It would be your subconscious that is projecting and overcompensating.

Nice single variable analysis.

I can do that too.

[attachimg=1]

But none of it means horse shit until you take into account the totality of the system.

I realize science can  be hard and it can be difficult to wrap your head around an issue that involves more than one black and white variable, but it should be easy for someone who can seamlessly link thousands of objective scientific papers to a single political ideology and connect all those big neocon catch words together into a vaguely coherent sentence.  Too bad science and climate don't give a rats ass about political allegiance.
Damn, Georgie, the more of your posts I read the more I'm becoming a fan of yours.

I did catch the first episode or two awhile back and I agree the casting is good, with the exception of Catelyn which didn't seem right to me.  Tyrion is great, if a bit "polished up".  Jaime and Eddard and Jon are spot-on I think.  Arya is also good.

Anyway I'm sure at some point I'll binge-watch them all.  I kinda miss the books already, even though I've given up on them out of exhasperation.  I'm conflicted.   :-\
right. Same thing happened to me. In fact, I was even somewhat trashing Martin's work to my friends but after a time there was something compelling about it that made me go back and finish the books. And watch the HBO series. My chief complaint was there's a strong element of abnormality and perversity woven into the subplots which I actually found offensive. and that takes some doing because I'm pretty flexible.
#292
Oh no you don't. You answer my question first.
By the way, generally whenever I've met a guy who is totally obsessed with calling other men gay, fags, fagboys, poofters, Nancyboys, etc., it turns out that he is a homosexual. It's called projection and overcompensation.

When I was a kid we used to go out in the woods after dark and catch fireflies. We put them in a jar and played with them. So I knew from experience that fireflies contained no heat element. And are harmless. But I guess not everyone knows that. Like kids from the city.
