Several years ago on the way to SF/Taos I drove through Roswell. What a bust. And, really, NM, aside from mountain areas is pretty ugly. Mainly due to the distances so all the trailers, trash, etc can be seen. Aaaanyway, the funniest thing I saw at Roswell was a t-shirt in a shop window that showed an alien "gray" in a serape, sombrero, sleeping near a cactus with a bottle of ta-kill-ya in his grasp that said "The ORIGINAL Illegal Alien Roswell, New Mexico." I would've bought but the shop was closed.

ps: to add to my views on NM. I had to take a leak and went into a public bathroom in Albuquerque. Big mistake. Some drunken Indians were lurching out and the place was wrecked and smelled so friggin bad. And I've been in some bad places but nothing like this smell and situation. I hadn't had anything to drink and, luckily we had not yet decided where to eat lunch, but still I threw up in my mouth, managed to send it back down, and staggered out. Found a bathroom in a church that was happening to have a booksale near the square.

Mainly due to the distances so all the trailers, trash, etc can be seen. I actually like deserts also BUT not when strewn with trash, shitty mobile homes and detritus, signs about illegal alien crossings, dangers from cartels, etc. NM has the highest DUI deaths. Wonder why? I stopped to get gas at one town and there was a mobile-home park or Res on one side of the highway and the store on the other....a gas station that sold $1 single-shot mini-bottles at the register, just in case you need one-for-the-road or couldn't afford a bigger bottle or some beer after gassing up. No crosswalk or anything either. Here we are going to change our laws with regard to speed limits in neighborhoods and experiencing a record number of "auto pedestrian" deaths. Certainly not a cultural thing but, anecdotally, it is- at least my observations of the people stuck in the middle of major thoroughfares and not at cross-walks. They even try to walk across IH-35 (a major highway going from the border here to the border at Canada. At night even. That, combined with Lance Armstrong wanna-bes on the roads, even rural roads with not much medians means you always need to keep your eye out!)

Nah, thanks for the offer though. Hope you have a better time than I had there. But certainly buy one for yourself! It is a funny shirt (though in these days I would watch where you wear it! Not "politically correct.") Having said that enjoyed the mountains and SF area was ok (though frustratingly hard to buy beer/food etc as you have to drive out of the city center to find a store. They try to keep it "authentic." In the snow though it is beautiful in Christmas time with the candles, fires, etc.) A lot of scams and over-priced stuff though. More of a chick place for spending, I say.

Last year, I took the interstate from Albuquerque to El Paso.  Very dull.  I love the desert too but I just wasn't impressed with the scenery along the drive.

Daniel needs to fix the roof in the shed he lives in outside his mothers house, by default I hate his parents for making him, he's a disgrace. His entire family hates him it's obvious. The only way out I see for him in life is in a bathtub and a razor blade.
