I guess its time to follow the orders from Admiral Adama: Bring in the cat and grab your gun. Its gonna be like the Eastern front up in here. Bell vs Noory(poor bastard, premrat should hire him some help). At least he can cosole himself with his long term contract. TARGET MOTHERSHIP TARGET IDENTIFIED ONNN THE WAAAAAYYY!!!
You treadheads will no doubt understand. Those are fire commands from inside the M1 Abrams tank. Perhaps Noory should use 99 red ballons by Nina as his opening theme? I am a high functioning moron and do not know how to do links

I think a "handful" of people on here -- myself included -- live in a place called "Realville".

For the record, I was a fan of Art`s show long before most people had ever heard of him, even before he adopted the paranormal format. Many nights I spent trying to tune his show in on my AM radio dial as it came wafting over the mountains on a clear evening in San Diego. He`s the best; no question about it. However, a lot of water has flowed under that bridge, and the synergistic wave  of mystique, talent, and timing that Art rode directly to the center of all our hearts, has eroded significantly.

Can Art still produce a quality program that is better than the current version of C2C? Of course. But I would caution folks to wait and see. Art has, in the past, played his fan`s emotions like a fiddle. This fan will remain skeptical until such time that Mr. Bell delivers on the hype he has -- all too often -- generated.

This is on the same wave length as my question yesterday, unfortunately I used his Twitter following as an example, but that is meaningless in the scheme of things. But what if Art cannot do it like he did it

I recall his 2008-2009 shows had less passion (of course he was being challenged by idiots who don't understand scientific theory).. maybe that's why

I hope he has regained the fire to do a good program with that fun weird style..

Red Eye is the long-haul trucker-oriented dreck that Cumulus required all the stations they own to carry in the C2C time slot starting a couple of years ago. Two guys talking mostly about right-wing politics. Not worse than Noory, but close. We can only dream that Art takes their M-F time slot.

Red Eye was great when Doug Mcintyre hosted it, reminded me very much of Art Bell actually. Then when Cumulus merged with Citadel, they dissolved "Red Eye Radio". Then the Midnight truckin network (or whatever it was called) took the Red Eye name and it's affiliates. I don't care for the two hosts who are on there now and I stopped listening. Doug is now doing the morning show on KABC in LA.

Again, you sprinkle in realism with pessimism. You have no idea if there has any sort of erosion of talent at all. None. All that anyone knows is that he was at war with Premiere, and was essentially forced into retirement over various issues. These issues also bled through and had a major impact on the quality of his shows in the later years. Art never wanted to retire, he just didn't want to do things the way they were being done, and given his contract, he had no way of getting around that.

Be as skeptical as you want, but I would caution you to quit making judgements about Art's talent or personal desires. He has been trying to get a new contract done as of the morning his non-compete clause ended. He has, very clearly, been trying to get back on the radio since his NC clause ended. Art doesn't air dirty laundry with the companies he works with, and instead puts it on himself, saying he wanted to retire and so forth.

The latest from Art on Twitter:

This is not a tease, promise.

A step closer. I remain cautiously optimistic or in Coast to Coast terms open mindedly skeptic.

Just make an announcement already. Enough with the teasing BS... I'm tired of it.

Looking forwards to the continuing skepticism, which probably won't stop even once the announcement is made, and he goes on the air. (Then it'll just shift to "how long before he quits"...some people just can't be happy...)
Bell's erratic record since hitting the radio big-time in the late 90s, i.e. "retiring" and returning repeatedly, then finally just turning his back on a loyal audience for years makes skepticism the only prudent view.  Looks to me like many are eager to be taken for a ride again. What's that cliche about insanity...something about expecting a different outcome from a repeated behavior...?

"Very clearly" to who? Based on what?  The desperate hopes of a small bunch of die-hard fans?

I'll say it again...there's not a shred of gossip or buzz in the entertainment or industry media. Not a shred. Zip. Nada. This...for the guy who had the radio world by the ass a decade ago? Like the guy said in the movie: "Show me the money"!

kingotnw

Again... feel as bad about it as you want,  but quit fighting so hard to ruin it for others. What are you going to do if you convert someone to your way of thinking? Say "there we go... I stole his happiness and joy. Now I can go on about my day in peace"? I'm being serious. How about you just let everyone be happy and enjoy the speculation. God forbid his fans are happy about his return. We better put all of them in their place!!! Lighten up. Clearly you guys are not current art bell fans and that's fine. Just let all of us who are be happy. As for of not being mentioned in the media... there has been no announcement yet. You have his media company who is sitting on the i formation, and you have other media companies who he is competing against so they have no desire to boost someone else's ratings. They will all talk about it once there is an announcement, not before.

You seem to completely be dismissing the possibility that he might not be able to make an official announcement for legal reasons. Yes, Art likes to be abstruse and make people guess, but there are contracts involved in this. I doubt they are finished negotiating. Also, an announcement has already been made as far as I'm concerned.

Ok. I know I'm not alone in this....
So, as others have remarked, Why do I find myself constantly refreshing A web page with about four words on it, and incessantly checking FB and Twitter ?
(My 14yr old daughter be proud)
Why am I getting more excited than an 8 yr old at Christmas?

Nobody can rain on my parade.  I'm a 53 year-old lawyer, tied up for two days with a GF's back surgery.  When I read the last three pages of this topic this morning, I was as excited as when I learned my GF"s surgery went great, and am also acting like a 12-year-old.  Yes, I do have misplaced priorities.  Yes, Art has tweaked us for years.  And yes, I am 99% convinced (can't say 100%) he's coming back!

A ridiculous assumption by Noory. I'm in the attic.

This is so much fun. The artbell web site with all the clues to follow has been the best.
Honestly, there is no one else like the guy. Who else would come up with something like this?
Any other person planning a new radio show would just do a press release and be done with it. What is the fun in that??
I like to think he has been doing all of it just for us here on coastgab.com.

Thank you Art.
If/when you are back on, it will be great to hear you again. I don't care how long it lasts and will enjoy what ever you are able to do for how ever long you are able to do it.

Here's wishing you a speedy recovery!   You have lots of company here in the dimension of indomitable spirits.   Art's coming back and we rejoice, whether it be for a week or a year.  Today is good, my friend!

Can I ask? Is it someone on here spamming my YT channel? If they are, have they read this? (half way down the page)..Apparently (following the stereotypical, yes/ no, right/ wrong, black/ white) fuckwit logic, because I don't want Art Bell spam I must by definition be a George Noory fan..Yeah..of course. How are these able to even comprehend complex issues that Art Bell or even George Noory might cover without pictures to help them?

I have to laugh.  I had recently moved my office to the basement.
It's actually where I hide from the noise of the kids ... so I can listen to Art Bell etc.
But I'm not lonely!

I love everyone posting their pedigrees. Masters-Prepared Nurse Practitioner here. I take care of laminectomy patients. It is a rough surgery to get over with much variability in recovery time. Being younger helps. Oh dear,,the age-thang again.

And I love Art Bell. And GNS.
Am I having fun with all this?? Oh yes. Oh yes, indeed.

DesertFox

Don't care if a few here want to piss on everyone's parade--very happy Art is coming back.  And it is clear now he is.  His sly ways is part of his charm--he's an original.

That said if it's Cumulus I might be screwed...I don't think they have any stations in South Florida, where I live.

I'm glad everyone is having fun with this. I am as well. Hopefully Art stating that he promises this not a tease will help a few others to relax and play along. Really, if you think about it... all of this is strictly for his die hard fans. The millions of casual fans he has, that will all come back after a formal announcement, wouldn't get this. It would all go over their heads. I think its awesome that Art is doing something for his die hard fans. I also think its great to see so many professionals letting go and having fun with all of this like a giddy teenager. Thanks so much Art!!

You can listen to pretty much any station on tunein.com or on one of their iPhone / Android apps. So no matter what / when / where Art comes back most people will be able to listen.

morphiaflow

There are those who just aren't happy until they've tried to piss in everyone's corn flakes. Fortunately, I ain't havin' it. And I LOVE this part of the game. I feel bad and sad for those who are so wedded to their pessimism/skepticism/cynicism that they can't even allow for the possibility that THEY are wrong--and then even when they are shown to be wrong, they just change the goal posts and start bitching about something else.

The only thing that concerns me at this point, like someone said above me, is whether I'll be able to tune in locally in Phoenix. But you know what? If not, I'm sure I'll be able to do so online, or at least that there will be other options. No matter what, soon we'll be hearing Art Bell again. Maybe it'll even be in time for my birthday.
