Glad I still work nights. Might take a night off tho to listen to his first show. Crazy....

I wonder if Art will bring back Dreamland (from Whitley) as a full show since it won't be C2C.  Hmmm...

Quote from: MV on July 26, 2013, 01:30:10 AMreally?  are you sure it wasn't done before that request was posted?
The Emperor was riding through one of his tiny villages when he noticed that everywhere he looked were targets with just one shot on them, where the shooter had hit the bullseye. Trees, barn doors, signs - everywhere he looked was a target and perfect bullseye hit. The Emperor, always eager to man his army with the best sharpshooters possible, insisted that his retinue stop the royal progress and immediately find this amazing marksman. Never had he seen such shooting! He must be found now!

So the Emperor's aides fanned out through the village, and it didn't take long before they found Johann the Idiot and brought him before the Emperor. The Emperor couldn't believe it. How could this simpleton be such a deadeye? Why, even the Emperor himself missed the bull sometimes, and he was the finest shot he knew. "Johann! Talk! How is it you, a dolt and a dullard can hit the bullseye every time when my empire's most noble knights cannot match such a feat?

"Well, your majesty, it isn't all that hard. I just have to make sure I am very careful and mark the bullseyes very precisely when I draw them around where I have already shot my bullet...."

Does anyone think that Art Bell is having too high a pedestal being built for him? I sincerely hope he makes a success of whatever he's about to do; but I also hope that he doesn't get a heap of shit piled on him if he's not what the listeners expected.. Just a thought.

Hey Art, this is a long shot but could you play an audio clip of the bigfoot scream whenever someone goes to the website... that would be classic.  I uploaded the clip to my youtube here:

Art has been re-building "the essence" of the Art Bell show on his web site step by step.  Letter by letter.  A type of "Quickening".

Quote from: morphiaflow on July 26, 2013, 01:48:34 AMHahah. That's almost the premise of Roger Waters' "Amused to Death" album.
You know, I think Waters is right about that. Myself, I've never peeked at the goatse or two girls or any of the other foul things on the internet like faces of death stuff, because, as was said, what has been seen, etc. And I really do believe that when such things have become so common and everyday that it is a sign of a low, decadent culture.

That being said, I also find Roger Waters an unbearable little priss. I had my fill of his pissy preaching and self-righteous moaning about 35 years ago.

How dare you destroy the joy in the lives of people who are totally bereft of it? You must be a soulless, evil, cruel and twisted gnome to even have such wrong thoughts, much less express them and thus crush the fragile crust of hope in so many. *ahem*

But I was thinking that exact thought about the time you posted. The non-intersection of Art's intentions and fans' expectations could get very ugly. And pardon me for in-joking you to my American baseball movie fans, but let me put on my best Bob Uecker Major League announcing voice, and answer your question about whether Art is having too high a pedestal built....

Juuuuuuuuuust a bit high.

A very fair question, however, Art's original show had variable qualities over time, especially in terms of guests.  Art is Art.  Whatever he does will be entertaining.  If people are dissatisfied, they can tune in to Noory.

Even if Art phones it in it will still be better and more entertaining than Noory uh ...... phoning it in.

Here's my slightly edited version  8)  Snoory has a sadistic streak.

Linda, we have to let you go

I'm not a big LMH fan but this is a new low point for Noory. Truly disgusting what he did to her... on the air no less!

RedMichael

You just know Art has a shit eating grin on his face when he reads this thread.

A man's passion is what keeps him young. Good for you Art.

No.

First of all, what pedestal?  We are just really happy at his return.

There is no pedestal. Art is Art. Aside from when he was trying to get out of his contract, he has always been the same. Guest quality will always vary from show to show though, but I really appreciated that when a guest was doing really bad, Art wouldn't hesitate to dump them because of a 'bad phone line' or some such thing. A few people keep saying that the quality of Art's shows varied, but I disagree in a big way. I work nights. Over the past year, I have been listening to 2-3 full C2C Art shows a night, I have hundreds of them on my computer. Aside from the show right after his wife died where he was having a hard time, and the few shows he was doing at the end while trying to get out of his contract, I have yet to hear a show that wasn't good. A lot of times, his open lines shows are equally as good as his best guests, and I'll tell you what... Art's worst show is 100 times better than Norry's best.

Pedestal? Please... He's Art frickin' Bell... We should all know exactly what to expect. I don't think for one second that he will disappoint anyone any more or less than he always did in the past. I'm excited, and I can't wait. I agree with the person up above that I will probably take the night of his first show off of work, even though I am more than capable of listening to it while working. I want to give my full attention, and I would really like to be able to get through to him on the air.

You know what would be cool? This is probably asking a lot, because he is doing all of this for us die hards now, but if he had some sort of game to release a number or two for his fans that have been following him close for all this time, so that a few of us could be prepared to call in, and actually get through over everyone else. Maybe that's unfair to ask for, because he is actually going through a great deal of effort for us right now, but I think it would be cool. I've never gotten a chance to get through and I would really like to.

How cool would it be to be his first caller when he comes back?!  8)

Thank you so much Art. This music is all such a big part of your show, it all puts me right into the mood for it. I had fun tonight, even just going through these songs with you and everyone else.  :)

Jnthn932

Very. It would be so cool if Art gave all of us over here at coast gab a little shout out during his first show. Not that we deserve it but you just know he lurks around this site and gets a kick out of reading our noory sucks forum and all of our speculation about his return.

I feel just like a long term prisoner of war as they hear the tanks of our side coming to rescue them after all this time.

I can see Art in his Sherman, cranking-up "Dancing Queen," Oddball-style, as he and Clint near our huddled mass to save us all from the PremRat Regime and the despised Nooron.

Fly By Night

Every letter on artbell.com now links to some youtube video, so discloser must be around the corner. Tick tock.

I'm not worried about Art being put on a pedestal at all. Art will always have the ability to make a conversation feel like he's an old friend of yours. The way he brings us into parts of his life, the excellent questions he asks in interviews, the perfect music for the topic, that voice-even the eeriness that he's talking to us from Area 51's doorstep. What Art does is easy for him, but almost impossible for others. His talents come from the mind and his voice. Short of dementia taking development, I expect he will be on point when he returns.

I'm still thinking it's all going official on Aug. 1 and maybe a start date in September.  Get ready for some buzz on the mainstream sites.

A Fall season start would be perfect.  Cool, clear, crisp nights with The Master of the Night riding the frequency once again.  Just in time for a "Ghost-to-Ghost" type show for Halloween.

I wish I had been online when all that linking was going on... so cool!!

Hi All,

I do not wish to string anybody along, stay tuned means just that. Until I was free in terms of non compete there was no
real way I could be on the air anywhere. Premiere has offered me a slot anytime I wish.....I do not wish.

Now that I can indeed return if I wish there is the matter of a venue, I have some offers I am thinking about but have not
decided on anything as of yet. There was a time that I did not want to compete with Coast because I had no wish to destroy
what I built, Premiere has almost managed to change my mind about that.

Doing a show means devoting your life to it, not just "phoning it in", examples of that can be heard nightly. So a decision to
proceed will have to be done right or not at all. This means the creative freedom is first along with the venue.

While doing Coast at one point, instead of taking more money I opted for a restriction on the number of commercial minutes,
a dumb move because as soon as I was gone they came back PLUS. I do what I do because I love it, not for the money.

So, I just now have come to the point that I CAN do something, if I will or not depends on the above. I hope this helps some
of you understand the process. I would rather do nothing than something half-assed.

Jorch is certainly NOT The Master of the Night.  I'd give him Supreme Master of Suckage, though.

Thanks for the reminder.  It makes me appreciate Art, even more, with his desiring creative freedom and the proper attitude of "if you're going to do something, put in the effort and try to do it right."  Art is everything Jorch isn't.

VtaGeezer

The bumper music links are a vivid contrast to Noory's use of Paul Anka last night and...be still my heart...maybe his possible appearance on C2C.  Aaack!!

Even skeptical I gotta admit, something seems to be in the offing.

Marc.Knight

People travel thousands of miles to hear his words of infinite Suckage.  The Sacred Trinity of Suckage is Ignorance, Incompetence and Flatulence.  They are Three, yet One in The Noory.

Art is really ramping this, and us, up. No way this is a part time or one off kind of thing. Full time radio show is the only thing that makes sense. No way is Art going back to C2C.
