It was linked almost 10 minutes after my post, and at least 3 people had their requests fulfilled, but sure, I must have known in advance. In fact, I'm Art.

This... he put up what people asked for well in advance.

Hey art, if you're listening still, you forgot these two!

Does anyone think that Art Bell is having too high a pedestal being built for him? I sincerely hope he makes a success of whatever he's about to do; but I also hope that he doesn't get a heap of shit piled on him if he's not what the listeners expected.. Just a thought.

No. Having heard the Area 51 call live... remembering how Art was a master at unscreened open lines... remembering how surly and curmudgeonly he'd get and smack down both guests and callers... remembering him super glueing his lip.

Art could read the Pahrump yellow pages over the air and make it interesting. Noory could have the most compelling topic handed to him on a platter from his producer and turn it into 4 hours of cold oatmeal.

Art has been a radio guy and a talker his entire life.

Backtracking and reading a little closer to what you said, you might have a point for newcomers, and nostalgia/rose colored lenses for the old timers here... Art has quirks. But I think any listener, even if it's their first time hearing Art, will hear 1) passion and 2) craftsman-like skill.

Jesus, I miss Art. Even his stupid little stories about his Geo Metro. My fiancé does *NOT* know how radically my schedule is about to change. ;)

Lol @ clyde lewis maybe you want to hear some old guy pretend to be interested in the paranormal. That's you noory!!

I find the too high a pedestal argument silly.  It's just people happy Art is coming back.  He's a true radio talent but no one is saying he's perfect in every way.  Who is?  But he's a talent and his outlook and personality is unique and it resonates.  Go Art go.

I think it's going to be xm. Still no word on their replacement for c2c and ground zero. Surely they will want to have paranormal radio at night to offer alternative to Noory.

I would guess xm as well. Just seems to lineup with the prem programs leaving.

With Rollye James back on the air, and Art soon to be back, I feel like ive gone into a time machine and am reliving my late teen years.
Now if the man would ever accept my friend request on facebook lol.

Been 2 years Art, click the button!

I know!! I started with Art in 1996, I was 21. All of this makes me happier than I can possibly describe. But it means considerably less sleep. And for those of you who don't listen to Rollye, she has had callers asking about it. She doesn't know, but she said the other night she hopes he comes back. :) Classy:)

It wasn't intended as an argument; it was an observation. I just hope he gets the support and if he falls short not get shit on.

What are the chances of Hoagland being on?  :)

Siriusxm makes a lot of sense, artistically. Art would have a lot of creative freedom to do what he wants, and right now they're shuffling around again. They just got rid of Book Talk, which clears up a slot. They also offer On Demand for some shows, which gives the people with day jobs time to catch up.

Can't have a walk down memory land without The Highwayman:

The Highwaymen - Highwayman

Song still gives me the chills.

If Art comes back via telegraph, I'll start stringing wire.

"Yippee ki yay, he's coming back!!!"

Dear God how I have missed opens lines when Art did them! I heard that Area 51 call live. Even hoaxes were better at that time. I"m super excited. Hope a podcast or youtube link will be there for us daywalkers. I can't stay up all night unless I find a new job. I miss working nights and I am jealous of all of you who do:)

Well wasn't specifying you necessarily--with regards to argument/observation or opinion or whatever...meh I still stand by my take regarding that.

About where Art lands--most  of our guesses seem to be either XM or Cumulus.  Can anyone think of any OTHER alternative to these 2 options?

You can get a xm with hundreds of hours of record time. I did and love it. Can't wait, hopefully, to fill it up with art programming.

Those are the only two realistic ones. Sirus/XM pays really well too. It's going to come down to, I think, who let him have his show with a minimal amount of sponsor air time like he wants it to be. If you remember, when he owned C2C, he turned down boat loads of ad revenue cash because he believes his listeners should be treated with respect, and not as wallets with ears.

I just realized - I work for myself.  I can work all night and listen to Art.

I'm so excited, my shitty earbuds died on me yesterday and instead of buying crap headphones again, I splurged on good quality.  Art in high fidelity.  Make my money worth it, Art! ;p

After that he deserves to be called an old fashioned "DINK".

From one of my favourite old programs, Red Dwarf, with the name changed to reflect our great-part time Lieutenant.. er, I mean Captain.

His name's Noory, or Smeghead, or Dinosaur Breath or Molecule Mind. And on a special occasion when you wanna be like really mega polite to him, I mean really, really polite, in these exceptional circumstances you can call him... arsehole.

I'm still wondering if Art will only be doing two nights a week:  Friday and Saturdays, the nights that the Red Eye Radio hosts have off.  Because if Art completely takes over that time slot on Cumulus radio shows broadcast around the country, what happens to Red Eye Radio.  Would Cumulus just fire them, to make way for Art?  Seems a bit brutal, as much as I don't like Red Eye Radio (it's awful).

I can confirm.  I was reloading frequently to see if anything new was being linked.  I reloaded before and after Bateman's post, trying to make sense of the letters still left.  They spelled Anaki, which I thought might have something to do with Anunnaki (best I could come up with).  The funny thing was I even reloaded after Popple said the 'A' had just been linked as per Bateman's request and it still wasn't linked for me.. the next reload it was.  I guess I was lagging.

Has to be full time, 4-5 nights a week. No way he gets a big contract on anything but. Not to mention, he has very strict requirements for whatever company he works for, in order to fill those, they need him to fill hours. A bit brutal to let go of a night radio show to make way for Art Bell? No way. That's expected.  You can be sure if that happened, anyone who worked for the station saw that coming a mile away.

Anyone have an "in" with Art?  Where I could go on and explain why Hoagland and Bara are wrong since Noory promised to have me on after Bara ranted about me and Michael Horn ranted about me but Noory won't return my e-mails?

Oh make this happen! You can be sure Bara and Hoagland will have their ears pressed up against the speaker! Even better, if AB then invited both to come on and address your corrections of their bollox point by point.. Now that would be radio!

I'm really bad at self-promotion and think it would be better to hear from others pushing it rather than "I wanna be on your show!"  See Expat's latest blog post...

I've seen this a few times, and for the life of me I can't see how Beck gets lumped in with those two wackjobs. One of these things is not like the others. It must be based on his reputation (inaccurate, I think) rather than his actual show. I dunno.
Honestly, I think Beck might be MORE wacky, crazy enough to be kicked off Fox entirely.  I love the chalk board though, works better on radio.

From what I understand it's pretty simple. Even when others recommended guests to Art in the past, he would ask for the person's contact information. If you want to be a guest, just send him off a short email explaining who you are, and why you would be a good guest. Now would be the time to do it, because once this goes public, which shouldn't be too long from now, his email is going to be filled nonstop day and night.

Nobody in their right mind would let anyone here know they have an 'in' with Art...  :P

You know what would be cool? This is probably asking a lot, because he is doing all of this for us die hards now, but if he had some sort of game to release a number or two for his fans that have been following him close for all this time, so that a few of us could be prepared to call in, and actually get through over everyone else.  8)

If he posted a # here (during the show) I wonder how many lurkers who don't comment would use it to call in & swamp the line. It would be fun to hear regular coastgabbers get in.

Hahah, imagine Art's un-screened calls...
"HELLO CALLER! ARE YOU FROM COASTGAB?" - AB
"Nope. But Art someone sent me this # & I just had to get in!" - Caller
"I'm sorry, we're only taking calls from coastgabbers on this line. GOODBYE!" - AB ;D
