I'll bet Noory isn't chortling so much about his "long-term" contract now.   ;D

If Art's new show is in the exact same time slot of c2c, Snoory is going to be quaking in his boots.  That could spell the c2c's death knell.  Or am I dreaming again?  Maybe, but it's nice.  :)

The only thing that concerns me at this point, like someone said above me, is whether I'll be able to tune in locally in Phoenix. But you know what? If not, I'm sure I'll be able to do so online, or at least that there will be other options. No matter what, soon we'll be hearing Art Bell again. Maybe it'll even be in time for my birthday.

You do know that you can listen to the two radio streaming websites (tunein.com and iheartradio.com) directly through your PC.  These two websites combined carry just about every radio station in the country, I've noticed.  Since I've discovered this, I now listen to c2c via tunein.com (on my PC at home; not on an "app" through my mobile device, although there is that available too).  This has been great for me coz where I live in the boondocks I have a lot of trouble with radio reception.

Surely Art's recognized by now that Snoory and PremRat have done a "fine" job of tearing down what Art had built.  It's but a sad parody of what it was with Art.  I hope Art just forgets about the current C2C and presses ahead with what he does so well, if he wants to come back to radio.  C2C with Noory has been a dead show for years.  If Art comes back, C2C is completely in the rear view mirror and I'm not looking back.

I love how Ravenna responded to YOU and YOUR response on MY reply to HER. Catty women lurk everywhere, I guess, even on a thread about an intellectually stimulating and thought provoking host. One would think it's listeners are deeper than that. Maybe my spiked dog collar has her green with envy?

"In a world that seems so small, I can't stop thinking big."

Consider the following to be reasoned and informed speculation.

Art is a brand name, and a proven brand name with a long and impressive legacy. For all their affiliate counts and Noory's long term contract, he and Coast will always be in Art's shadow, and that shadow is about to grow much larger. Art wouldn't do this unless he was willing to do it big. He's is ready to fortify and grow his brand, and I don't think he'd be doing it without full thought about the future. He's building on the past to create something new for the future.

I have my money on "Midnight In The Desert With Art Bell", announced by Ross Patterson, on Red Eye/Cumulus, going head to head with Coast. I suspect seven nights a week, until the show is stable and Art can find additional hosts that HE approves--hopefully Knapp will be one of them (maybe even Ian once in a moon), and maybe Whitley--so that he can EVENTUALLY cut back to 2-4 nights a week.

At that point, the only use Coast will have is a rare night that Knapp (or just possibly Simone) hosts. And that's only until he steals Knapp away.

I expect a return to form like we haven't seen since pre-9/11. The tentative and defeated quality of his last few years as a Coast guest host will be gone. Topics will be all the classics, with 10-15 years of new perspective and discoveries.

There will probably be political and conspiracy stuff, but Wells/Jones type fearmongering rhetoric will be gone--and obviously Jones is highly unlikely to be a guest.

I'm not sure where it will go as far as guests are concerned. Art gave Hoagie a platform and enjoyed playing with him. But he's gone so far into the batshit category I'm not sure Art would even want him for the sake of having fun. And so many of the other classics have either been debunked or have lost their novelty. I think it's going to be case by case. But I don't think he'll be hurting for guests, either. His name still carries enough weight that people will be lining up for the chance to be interviewed by the legendary Art Bell.

I don't know if JC will call. I've discussed elsewhere that I believe JC and UFO Phil are the same person, and if so, they are in Noory's/Premeire's pocket. Though that might be a way for them to try to stir up or rattle Art...by having an indignant JC call and berate Art for having the gall to return to radio. They can keep their hands clean.

But behind the scenes I think it will be anything BUT clean. I believe that guests will be warned/threatened with blackballing against appearing on, endorsing or supporting Art's new show. Publicly, if they acknowledge Art's new venture at all, they'll probably say they wish him well. Or we might get a brusque "no comment". But I think it's a matter of time before Art Bell's name is no longer mentioned on Coast at all. (Except by Open Line callers that slip through--which will definitely leave Noory, Tommy and Lisa rattled.)

How long will it last? Will Art retire again sooner rather than later? Who knows? I just know I'm looking forward to whatever it is, for as long as it lasts. The car in which we're taking this ride may have a new body, but it's being rebuilt with the genuine '57 Buick engine. And I certainly think/hope Art is looking to build something new that can and will outlast him and outdo Coast at the same time. And when he's completely free from NDAs, NCs, and with complete creative freedom, I have every faith in what the man can achieve, God(s) bless him.

Go get 'em, Art.

Again... feel as bad about it as you want,  but quit fighting so hard to ruin it for others. What are you going to do if you convert someone to your way of thinking? Say "there we go... I stole his happiness and joy. Now I can go on about my day in peace"? I'm being serious. How about you just let everyone be happy and enjoy the speculation. God forbid his fans are happy about his return. We better put all of them in their place!!! Lighten up. Clearly you guys are not current art bell fans and that's fine. Just let all of us who are be happy. As for of not being mentioned in the media... there has been no announcement yet. You have his media company who is sitting on the i formation, and you have other media companies who he is competing against so they have no desire to boost someone else's ratings. They will all talk about it once there is an announcement, not before.
Whoever you are you are great! I couldn't agree more. Jesus, is it so wrong to bask in a potential return of good radio. Could I live in a world where I can listen to Art again? I found Art in 1996. Is anyone even close to what he did? I mean, paranormal wise? Art made you want to believe in those old stories. So all of you negative folks, why are you trying to rain on our parade? If I could listen to Rollye from 10-12, and Art overnight I could die a happy girl:)

Bless your Art loving soul for this post. I have been racking my batty brain trying to figure out the meaning of the highlighted letters. I thought they were an anagram, or something like that. I never thought to simply click on the letters. I too hope he is able to lure Knapp. He is my second favorite host, Art being my first of course. All of this has me over the moon!

Yes, yes, yes!!! I'm on board with you code-breakers and tea-leaf readers! Right now, the remaining (white) letters at Art's site are "ann ake id." Ann Ake Id? Who IS this woman? Is it Art's Filipino nanny? Could she be an angel?

I just don't want to be Charlie Brown trusting Lucy... nothing more than that.

No one wants Art back more than me. But I am not pressing in any way. If and when it happens I will be there...

While we wait it out here on CoastGab, we could amuse ourselves with a wish list to determine who gets custody of the kids in this upcoming "divorce." I'll begin:

Art
Whitley Strieber
Linda Moulton Howe
Bob Lazar
Peter Davenport
Seth Shostak
Michio Kaku

Snorge
Joshua P. Warren
Alex Jones
Lionel Fanthorpe
John Hogue
Glynnis "Numbers Lady" McCants
Christian "Turmeric" Wilde

Feel free to pile on.

for the most part I'm down with that list, but...you really want LMH to go to Art?

Also, it'd be fun to speculate on anyone that might end up as "joint custody".

LMH would give her very last piece of turquoise jewelry for Art to take her.  I'd take pity, personally.  Maybe every other month, though...

"Joint custody" is a good idea.

I am thinking about moving to the U.P. of Michigan, currently I live in south Louisiana where it is very hot. I am 45 and have lived in the heat almost all of my life.

There are only two seasons in the UP - winter and black fly.

Look at this woman's face. How old is she?! She looks like the mother of a teen. She should be ashamed of herself. Still, anything celebrating Art's return gets a pass. I guess.

Yeah, this woman looks late 20's.  Maybe a young mom.  Terrible dancer, but in good shape.

Her spontaneous "shoulda worn a crop top" vanity at the 32 second mark is cute.

Oh no I can fix it. I listen to WJR-760 am on my CCrane wifi radio. i subscribe to the Free press on my kindle. Next spring I am going to take a trip up there to look around. But I can fix Detroit.

The U.P. is gross (this is no comment on Yoopers themselves).  Modestly pretty, Winter and Black Fly sums it up.  If you truly want perfect, come up to Cascadia. :)

Steve Quayle is a special category.  He could probably do both shows simultaneously.  He'd just alternate between Art and George every sentence.  And it would make no less sense than it does now.

Speculation is that this is real. And soon Art will be back... I feel like there is a 20 dollar bill at my feet. But that may just be a fishing line attached to it.

Disheartened

When Art starts his new show Coast will obliterate anything that would be associated with Art, including his music. They sure won't be giving Art any unintended advertising. It will be like Art never existed.

Art will have HIS music back on HIS show.

Just read page 310. That's where the evidence, as I see it, was laid out.

As for the guests...Many, if not all of them, appear on many other radio shows. I can't see any difference when Art starts his new show.

I see major changes to Coast coming. Changes in topics especially. I know a lot of you don't listen to George but its pretty obvious when a particular topic is of George's interest and when its not. By that you can see the way Coast is going to go.

I think we can leave LMH with Snoory.  She puts me to sleep with the way she always sounds like she's reading.  The two of them together, I'm off to the Land of Nod in under 5 minutes.  Better than Ambien.

MV/Liberace!

one thing is for sure, and i don't think i've said this already...

I think if Art goes back to a mostly-paranormal/supernatural/etc format, Coast will probably shed many of those elements and go further in the Wells/Jones/Beck direction, which is where it's already been moving for some time anyway. I don't know if I see them changing music and such, in fact I see them probably trying to prevent Art from using some of those things. But we'll see how it plays out.

I agree on LMH. She sounds like a robot.

I don't think Coast will care about guests going on OTHER shows. I think they WILL care about guests going on Art's show. I really do see some kind of blackballing thing going on.
