My bet is August 1st, Sirius XM.

Hey Art, if you're reading this and I'm right, change the color of your website text to green.
;D

It sure is nice to come to CoastGab.com and see the "Recent Posts" section dominated by "Art Bell," instead of "George Noory Sucks!" posts.  Even if nothing pans out, it's good to dream.

Midnight in the Desert

Sure, Art has a song by Crystal Gayle perfectly reflecting the mood he creates, but George has UFO Phill.  Check and mate.

DesertFox

Don't want Art on Sirius--terrestial radio or bust.

Building the buzz, building the buzz....

Or maybe we're all just Charlie Brown and Art (like Lucy) is promising not to yank the ball away at the last moment.
What buzz?  This round of Bell return rumor has been on the web for weeks but, except for an insignificant number of Bell groupies on the internet, it seems no one gives a **** about it.  There's no sign of buzz at all about Bell in the entertainment media.

Program and operation directors I know would disagree with you.

Google "Art Bell" and click "news" and you'll find just one recent story; the Lubbock TX station's poll about Bell.  On Twitter, #georgenoory snags more recent tweets than #artbell".  Not exactly buzz IMO.

Although, if one truly considers Art's predicament; stuck in a double-wide full of cats,  watching Ninja Turtles,  while his 20-something wife is probably holding  a mirror over his mouth when he dozes off in the easychair, he MUST yearn for the glory

I just spewed a popsicle out my nose

He hasn't announced anything yet. The general public doesn't know anything about it. THat will all change once there is an announcement.

If he's already made a radio or satellite deal and there have been no leaks about it, that company should be advising the govt on security.

I googled Art Bell+Cumulus and found this interesting comment from a supposed insider.  It was on Fantastic Forum from January 2013 but is still likely applicable:

Art Bell New Syndicated Program
Hi all, I have worked in radio for over 30 years.  Right now the deal is that there are two major radio group owners, Clear Channel (whom you refer to as "Premrad" or Premiere Radio Networks) and Cumulus.  To launch a syndicated raio program with any chance of success, you absolutely need one of these two behemoths (Cumulus or Clear Channel) to be behind and/or associated with the new program.  Since Clear Channel (Premiere) and Art Bell have well known issues, obviously Art's ONLY real choice is Cumulus, owned by Lew Dickey. If Lew Dickey wants Art Bell, then he certainly has the $$ to get him.  I guess the main issues would be Art's demands (such as schedule and hourly commercial load).  Lew Dickey's Cumulus has been on an almost continual buying spree of radio stations, and in NYC, now owns WABC-AM.  Due to Cumulus owning WABC-AM, Clear Channel just purchased WOR-AM in NYC from Buckley Radio.  The reason why they bought WOR-AM is Clear Channel knows that Cumulus (WABC) is moving to launch competitors to longtime Clear Channel (Premiere) shows such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. Cumulus now has a deal with Mike Huckabee who they are targeting Rush Limbaugh with. Thus, Clear Channel now has WOR-AM to move Rush and Sean to when (not if, but when) Cumulus dumps Rush and Sean.  So, it would make a LOT of sense that Cumulus would go after Art Bell to topple George Noory.  Time will tell, but I would bet money Lew Dickey and Art Bell have talked recently.

Also remember this news item from February 2013:

Cumulus Media has dropped Coast To Coast AM with George Noory from multiple markets and replaced it with its own Red Eye Radio. Among the stations that have dropped the program are 770 KKOB & 1050 KTBL Albuquerque, 1290 WNBF Binghamton, 890 WLS Chicago, 710 KCMO Kansas City, 630 WPRO/99.7 WEAN Providence, 980 WAAV Wilmington NC, and 630/105.9 WMAL Washington DC. In two of the markets, the program has already found a new home as it is picked up by Clear Channel’s 920 WHJJ Providence and Sea-Comm’s “Big Talker” 93.7 WNTB/106.3 WLTT Wilmington NC. For now Coast To Coast remains on a few Cumulus stations including 560 KSFO San Francisco and 570 KLIF Dallas, although the latter is no longer listed on the show’s affiliate page.

Can anyone provide an update on any of the stations listed? I am hoping that Art and Cumulus have worked out something.

I avoid shameless plugs on this website by never linking my own website.. Until right now, and there is a reason for it

The website dread Central posted a link about an hour ago which is making Google News today, their headline reads that Art Bell is coming back point-blank, Art Bell IS coming back

I READ THE HEADLINE AND CLICKED ON THE STORY WITH MUCH ANTICIPATION, I THOUGHT I MISSED SOMETHING MAJOR BUT THEN I REALIZED THAT THEY BASICALLY HAVE NO INFORMATION TO BACK THIS HEADLINE UP

I love dread Central, I check it often, but this is pretty shoddy work to make such a stunning revelation without having anything to go on

I agree with ItsOver, cant wait to snatch the notebook from my wife after work. If its just a game, ive enjoyed it so far. but if he does come back, I bet this site just explodes. So either way, I win.
By the way , I enjoy reading every one of you and look forward to lurking here as long as the lurking is good

If nothing else, Art's certainly getting more active on FB and Twitter. He just posted a picture of his wife and daughter. Cute, too.

That's really not the way it works... A confidentiality agreement is a confidentiality agreement. When you are likely dealing with 9 figure contract numbers, people keep their mouth closed when they are supposed to.

If I knew for certain has was returning and that he'd be on SXM, I'd look into recording it. My brother-in-law has an extra receiver, that I'd have to set up, and I could probably automate the recording with mplayer on my raspberry pi and have it save directly to my dropbox account. I could most likely stream it directly too, but according to my ISP's TOS, I'm not allowed to "broadcast" anything, which the wording is conveniently vague and could mean a lot of things.

I'm surprised Noory can speak without his brains leaking out of his mouth. What a douche.

NOORY is disgusting.
He was shocked though when he heard "Art Bell," look at his eyes

But this made me think of something.. Didn't Larry King just get a gig with RT? I don't think Art would go there.. but maybe Art and Larry together...

That seems like a lot of extra work. SXM over the internet is available for about $15/month (or as Snoory would say "less than 50 cents a day"), or for an additional charge of like 4 bucks if you already have a receiver and a subscription. If you're going to need to activate that receiver just for this, it might be cheaper to go internet only. But if you go ahead and activate it anyway, it's probably worth the extra 4 bucks to add internet and capture the stream right on your computer. Just my .02.

Perhaps, but I'm not talking about deal details, just the broad stuff that tends to make its way into industry gossip beyond those who are restricted by agreements. There hasn't been a peep at any level about a Bell return from inside the radio industry or entertainment news circles; not even about Bell's open postings, and for a gossip-saturated business, I think that's significant.

I agree. Of course it's conceivable the deal could have been worked out with 3-4 people knowing, total...but so unlikely. And when more than a handful know, when has no one leaked something like this?

I agree. The only one making any waves is Art and his are barely ripples.

Art pretty much has to make some sort of announcement. He has less than 3000 twitter followers, and is seemingly small potatoes. He needs buzz, he can't keep making stay tuned, wanna take a ride, etc comments and not support it with anything. I think his multiple hints at a comeback has forced many outlets to just ignore him. He needs to make an announcement allow media to hype up his comeback, and his cult following will also spread the word.

I didn't say he doesn't have any real fans there. I simply said its a really easy thing to click a "friend" button. This forum is comprised of over 115,000 posts on a wide array of subjects written by countless people, many of whom are some of the most brilliant minds I've bumped into. This is an organically sprouted community more worthy of Art's participation than Facebook, in my opinion. I'll stack the conversations here against anything going on over there any day. I'm sure it's a bore.

And I didn't say that this forum isn't far superior to anything going on at Facebook.  8)
