Art pretty much has to make some sort of announcement. He has less than 3000 twitter followers, and is seemingly small potatoes. He needs buzz, he can't keep making stay tuned, wanna take a ride, etc comments and not support it with anything. I think his multiple hints at a comeback has forced many outlets to just ignore him. He needs to make an announcement allow media to hype up his comeback, and his cult following will also spread the word.

There is no official announcement yet, so there is no buzz. When there is an announcement, it will get national media attention and that will be that. The reason he has barely any Twitter followers isn't because nobody cares, it's because nobody knows. I fail to understand how some people are unaware of that.

What buzz?  This round of Bell return rumor has been on the web for weeks but, except for an insignificant number of Bell groupies on the internet, it seems no one gives a **** about it.  There's no sign of buzz at all about Bell in the entertainment media.

I'm not sure that many people even know who Art Bell is.  Sure, we do, and we loved the show, but in the world of entertainment - all these years later - he's almost an unknown.  I wouldn't expect any buzz.

I seldom hear anyone talk about Rush Limbaugh, and he's the best known figure in the current market.

3:40 of the 2nd video made me laugh out loud. not gonna lie.  ;D

I noticed signs of a few suspected Coastgab patrons in the comments on Facebook, lol. No love for Joorch at all. I don't know who it was, but someone referred to him as Snoory, which was a dead giveaway and made me laugh out loud. Ha ha, good job whoever you are!

morphiaflow

Listening to Knapp for a bit last night, just reveling in the last bastion of class, professionalism and credibility attached to Coast, and just thinking to myself (or sending it out telepathically), "Art, please, for the love of God, take George Knapp with you on your ride. Like the closing scenes of Jurassic park. Leave Isla Coasta to the raptors Noory and Wells, and fly away in your helicoptor with your amber mosquito and start anew elsewhere."

Shockwave

Was wondering what he is going to call the new show since it wont be C2Cam? Just the Art Bell show?

popple

cosmos to cosmos lol jk the art bell show would be just fine imo.

jazmunda

More importantly what is the opening theme music going to be?

Surely he has more claim to The Chase than that usurper Noory.

An Art Bell show just wouldn't be the same without that music.

Shockwave

If there's an official announcement from Art, I wonder if Noory would drop "The Chase" and use something else. Would be a cool move.. doubt it tho.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I hope Art really decides to jump back into the  rat race, and in so doing, is able to capture some element of the ''old magic''.

No possible way he does more than 1 or 2 nights/week. In fact, I doubt I would want him to do more. Better to have a fresh Art, and researched topic once per week  than a bored Art and dull topic 5 nights per week.

Because talk radio is generally something most people keep between them and their cars. It's kind of like pooping, everyone does it, but pretends they don't. Talk radio is guilty pleasure radio, it's intensely personal and private.

No possible way he even got offered a contract at less that 4-5 nights a week. Art is one of the big dogs, and he is going to get big dog money. He had more listeners than Howard Stern when he was last on, and Stern was/is getting about 125 million a year from his radio show alone. You can't build/rebuild a fanbase at 1/2 nights a week. It's not possible. Art has said many times over than if he ever came back, he would have to go at it full force, and 1/2 nights a week is half ass at best.

I agree, 100%. Art isn't going to do a blog, or internet radio, or even satellite radio. He's going to do a full time RADIO show. He wouldn't do it any other way. Art's not going to do anything half assed.

"Wanna Take A Ride?" has only one meaning. It is, and always has been, an invitation to his radio show. He couldn't be any clearer than that.

We do know, by his own words, that he is "bound" not to say anything more at this time.

So be patient people. We will get what we have all been hoping for.

You all do realize that Art is 68 years old, right? Further, I wouldn`t exactly say he`s a model  of good health. A full-time gig would be way, way too much to take on, especially without his beloved, late Ramona to do much of the background and prep work.

As far as I`m concerned, a Saturday night show would be something he could still sink his teeth into and not be overly taxing. Most radio hosts (decent ones, that is) will tell you that for every hour spent on air, there are at least  2 hours spent in preparation.

Full-time Art will simply not happen. Or, if he does attempt it, it won`t last long.

jazmunda

Does anyone know what Art's smoking situation is these days?

Last I heard and this was a while ago whilst he was still sporadically on air he was trying to kick the habit or had kicked it and was still relying on stop smoking aids. I remember him saying that smoking and being on air went hand in hand. If he has butted out I wonder how a possible return might effect him and that dirty old habit.

Rush Limbaugh and Howard Stern are both close in age to Art and they do full time shows. Stern actually does two shows and a tv show. I know Rush's radio show is M-F. You're assuming way too much in regard to someone's age limiting them, not to mention Art broadcasts from home. You don't have to tell me about this stuff, I've been in the entertainment industry my entire life. This isn't like working a normal job. Most people in the industry work full time until they die. As for preparation time, Art used to prepare for 90-120 minutes before every show, and use almost none of it while he was on the air. Trust me, if it's not full time for at least 1+ years, this wouldn't be happening at all. If he is bound by a confidentiality agreement right now, which he stated he is, the wheels are already in motion and contract numbers are already figured out and agreed upon. Art is in the 8-9 figure contract club. If he is doing a show, it's going to be full time, and he is going to make a boat load of money doing it. There is no way this is a lead up to anything but a full time show.

Even before. It wasn't the time on air that was hurting him as people seem to think it was. His relationship with Premiere had deteriorated, and he was forced into doing things with C2C he had no desire to do. That's why it ended up with him not fulfilling the shows he was even contracted to do. They bought him out and had him sign a non-compete clause that expired earlier this year, and he got paid handsomely for it.  This last part I don't know for certain, I could find out more after an announcement, but my gut tells me he was negotiating with Premier for most of this year, and someone lost the game of chicken they were playing, and Art took the other deal. It's no coincidence that Art coming back to radio was hinted at by himself just a handful of days before Noory's contract was renewed and extended.

We should all be happy. When Art comes back, he is probably going to be masterful for at least a year or two.

They still want an american to go doctor. Want to take a ride?

You`re dreaming.

Things have changed since then. You really don't understand why people bluff things like that when they are negotiating for a big contract?

QuoteArt Bell ‏@ArtBell51 21 Jul

Closer and closer. I may announce here or on Facebook. I am bound right now to not say more.

QuoteCloser and closer, please understand I am bound not to say anything yet, but it will be soon! Watch www.artbell.com and Twitter. I am artbell51

THis in fact does sound like a 68 year old man who can't wait to get back on the air. He is saying everything he can given the confidentiality agreement he has. The fact that he is saying anything at all, and even risking breaking the rules by walking a very very fine line speaks volumes about how anxious he is to get going.

I'm not trying to give you a hard time here, but you don't seem to know anything about this business. You don't sign confidentiality agreements to hide a web show or a one or two day a week radio program. This is much bigger than all of that. You sign confidentiality agreements because tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions, of dollars are involved and people need to follow the rules.

I don't understand why a small percentage of Art Bell 'fans' seem to want to throw dirt on his coffin, it's weird.

He had a falling out with Premier and has moved on. He's been doing radio his entire life. The day his non-compete clause was up he was looking for a new contract. Art has been waiting to go back on the air.

Amen to that. Are you reading this Art? Take George Knapp with you. He's the last slim thread holding C2C out of the rabbit hole since Ian left.

One day a week or five, I look forward to him returning.  I'm not overly optimistic it will actually happen, but I hope it does.  If it does, I hope he leaves politics out and goes back to the traditional formula that made the show great.  Yes, these subjects have been thoroughly played out, but they were played out by the Doofus who lacks the ability and intelligence for a good interview.  Having a proper host makes a huge difference.  I can still listen to UFO shows if Knapp is running the show.  If Doofus is doing a show about UFOs, I still don't care.
