I haven't visited BG for quite some time, but when I read the news on my way to work this morning, this was the only place I wanted to visit. I knew everyone would have fond remembrances. So much has changed for me over the past two years, but listening to the old shows always got me through.

Get out there and shoot! It's up to the rest of us to document the abandoned. As a society, we don't value things and places. We let them self-destruct for no good reason. Today, I spent the day in a 125-year-old abandoned downtown building. Original wood, wallpaper layered on wallpaper, horse stables in the basement, etc. It's just sitting there.   I have more shots from yesterday that I still need to upload.

Thanks. Street photography is something I'm rather new to and I'm learning as I go. It's a genre of photography that I really love. Locally, someone saw my page and they have requested that I work with them to promote awareness of a homeless shelter that is sitting empty, so I've been doing that for a week now. It's brought me some really unexpected opportunities.

That's true. I spend most of my free time in Mt. Rainier National Park, sometimes Mt. St. Helens, as well as other wilderness areas around my town.  Lately, I've been visiting ghost towns that you have to hike into, and I've been doing it alone or just with my dog. Despite spending a lot of time at Mt. Rainier and having a great sense of direction, last year, I somehow missed my trail back out of the woods. I backtracked at least 5 or 6 times before I found it again. I was like it had just closed up and disappeared and then finally reappeared. It was bizarre. I can't chalk it up to the paranormal. I guess I somehow just missed it. That had never happened to be me before, and it was quite scary. Had I panicked and just kept going deeper into the woods, who knows how long I might have been out there.  Paulides' stories used to really freak me out. Since I've heard his various interviews at least 5 or 6 times now, the stories are starting to wear thin. It's not going to stop me from getting out there and exploring. There are just too many interesting things out there still to be found.

It is an interesting question. I've never heard him talk about having any familial relation to the town or to the Davenport in Spokane, but I've wondered the same thing since he relocated there.

Thanks.    Yeah, the DVT was pretty scary. He's on daily Lovenox shots in the stomach now. I meant disk replacement, not vertebrae lol. They removed the disk and put in an artificial one. He now has a large scar across the throat. When people ask what happened, we joke he was the one who got away from ISIS.

Yep, after 20 years of Army active duty, my husband had his second meniscus debridement last week. Several weeks earlier, he had a vertebrae removed and replaced with an artificial one. Several months before that, he had his first meniscus debridement and repair. Next stop full knee replacements. Complications to first debridement included deep vein thrombosis that we luckily caught in time. He still gets up at 4:45 and goes to PT and puts in a full day of work. Still does stuff around the house as well. It sickens me to see a man who is capable of doing something sucking from the taxpayers' teat and crying all the time about how hard he has it. It's one of the more disgusting things I've ever witnessed.

Amen. I think we all know people who have major medical issues who refuse to give in and suck the taxpayers' teats. My father-in-law had his kidney removed, has asthma, had two artificial knees, and is 73 and works full time doing maintenance. My husband has had three surgeries on his almost non-existent knees and had a vertebrae taken out and replaced with an artificial one due to injuries received during his now 20 years in the Army. He still gets up at 4:45 a.m. and goes to PT and then work. I have debilitating neck and back pain. I still get up at 4:45 and go to work in the clinic.

Unless someone is in a vegetative state, they can work. They may need some accommodations, but there is work available for them.

Thank you!  I don't have the equipment to do my own printing, so I use a third-party company to print and ship my work. I have some of my favorites up there now. I still have tons to upload when I have time.

I usually take evening walks by the bay, since we live less than 5 minutes from the beach. Last night I decided to walk through the marsh behind my house instead. I'm glad I did. I had my first owl encounter! He let me get very close. He was as curious about me as I was about him. I love owls, so this was a really great experience.     Not the best shots, since I didn't have the right flash on, but I got some okay shots.

There are supposed to be limits, yes. However, I am acquainted with a couple who are the couples version of Falkie. They have been sucking the taxpayers' teat for over 22 years now. Neither work. They sit around all day and shop. The male plays a lot of video games. They are able to buy camera equipment, trips, etc. I tried reporting them several times, but the "authorities" did not care one bit.  They said it was not a waste of taxpayers' money if the couple got some benefit from it.  When one program cuts them off, their caseworkers find them other programs, and then they go back and reapply for the other programs. It's an endless cycle of waste and fraud.
