Art, Design, Photography

I draw, sketch if you will. My avatar is one example.

Pastel Sketch. Though, most works are full paintings (oils, gouache, etc) sometimes I love the simplicity in a sketch and leave it as is.

This is a work in progress and just a shit of one corner. For the longest time, that corner was bugging me. It needed a touch of something and waited til the image came to me. As these are created purely from my mind's eye, not from a photo etc. Well, one morning while walking the dog, I noticed this twig on the ground. Aha. The movement and angles were perfect. Picked it up and brought it inside ... To complete that corner.

'Blossom House'

Beautiful work, Chine! I admire all the talented people here.  :)

A commission from years ago. Hanging in a home in Miami. A 'spirit' portrait of 'Leslie'

What with the "artist conception" views of Pluto floating around right now, I decided to build a planet.

I've clicked on this a few times to look closely. At a distance it reminds me of an illustration of a map. Which are fascinating to me. This is really good. The various colors sprinkled about and the map feel of various doodles here. Feels like I'm examining symbols in a cave and various language, stories. Whether you were just doing this with a plan but maybe just stream of conscious.  The latter always produces the most interesting work. I'm always drawing on any paper, post its lying around. I actually like that this is on lined paper. Would be neat to see you do this again. On a sheet of watercolor paper with watercolors or canvas. Oh Heck, medium doesn't even matter at times or the 'method/ technique' but rather the expression inspired in the moment. I really do like this! Keep doing these!

Figitsutitor., Hmm. The pic didn't show up in my quoting you.

thanks Chine. i can see you know something about the subject of art. i appreciated viewing the posts you put up also. i haven't tried painting on a canvas. This came from slow times in my classes during college, such as when the teacher would read a sentence then write it on the board then read it again but i had already wrote it down when they read it the first time. i drew tons of made up symbols all throughout my notes. I scanned this one cuz i didn't want it to perish.

Beautiful work.

Thanks, Chine!  (Obviously, not as involved as your manually created ass kicking work, but it was enjoyable to design.)

Here's something of mine from twenty years ago. While it was never well received by my peers, I will always like it because it was created spontaneously with a vague idea of portraying a primitive power of evocation or summoning.

I've worked as a professional artist for many years. It's my 'job', pays bills. But, in breaks between commissions, in always creating. Even if a silly doodle, or an inspired painting I do for myself (but for a client) Funny thing is, if I post them on my sites and followers see them. They want to but them. I did a painting on a whim that took probably about only 30 min. Posted on my business FB page, it sold as soon as I posted it. Then several others contacted me asking if available to buy. So those 'off the cuff' energy pieces attract eve. If we're just goofing around.

You just never know who will be drawn to it and if you're thinking in terms of art as a business, can't rule out what you assume a potential buyer wants. You may attract and manifest a whole new group or 'audience' if you will.

The business of art is a different hat than doing for a hobby. I committed myself when I figured it out and my work got out there. But I was clear in 'What do I create? How can I offer something unique in my own style? How and who is the audience I market it to'

But this theme and style of yours feels is one I appreciate and get. Not everyone likes the same art. Ha. Like life. But you keep doing what makes your heart sing and the ones who connect to it, will reach you. If you do more, share. Awesome stuff.

Love this and the vibrance of color. You can definitely feel the energy. It's fun to look back on works from years ago, isn't it? Like perusing through old journal entries. Just curious, were you listening to music while creating this? Btw. Sent you a PM.

Chine

When I wake up, a song will pop in my head. That's what I'll paint to today. This morning ...Work in progress while listening to Judas Priest. What this is... Don't know. They open up and reveal to me, as in a meditation. With these (call them my Exploration series) I just put music on and it paints itself.. I will put it aside to get back to work for others and pull it back out , add more to it in my free time.

Chine

And finally finished. 'Blossom House' Painted to a handful of Siouxsie and The Banshees songs.

Chine

While 'cleaning out my closet', going through tons of files of artwork. Stumbled on this one again. There was a month where I chose to paint only men and portraits in oils on cardboard. An edgier feel than my usual,  pretty dancers which many associate to my style.

During this time, I had to be on medical leave from my performing work and was in great pain. Almost bed ridden. I would manage to paint no matter what. Nothing can stop that drive. Also, healing to keep my spirit afloat. This painting was an attempt at paint Eminem (Marshall Mathers). Though the exact likeness didn't come through as I hoped. The mood and essence from the song did. Which I wanted a darker feel, depth.

At one of my art shows in Las Vegas, I chose to display it with the rest in this series. On one wall in the gallery... The elegant women, fluid dancers, showgirls, ballerinas, etc. On the opposite wall, the men. Several came up to me during the show and told me they knew this was a solo show but felt like two different artists on display. That's what I was aiming for... To showcase the range in style, mood and of course you're offering yourself to an expanded audience.

Chine- They're all great and a tribute to your dedication and talent! They do look like work by different artists- that's got to be a challenge. Thank you for sharing them. :)

I am certain I was listening to music. But I couldn't tell you what it was, only that it was either hard rock or heavy metal, anything from Aerosmith to Zeppelin.

I like all this work you're posting.

You're quite the productive little minx. heh

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but everyone is losing their minds because of the upcoming MITD. All reason is being thrown out the window.

Clearly, we are mere inches away from certifiable cult status or the end of the world.

I always did think Art had that dark side...

Something happened to Art when he spent the night in the Great Pyramid. He has forgotten precisely "what," but it's all about to come flooding back. The memories must come back... to make the cult viable. Now is the time for revelation...

In the spirit of the prophetic insanity, I pose this question:

Instead of listening to music as you painted, what if, as an experiment, you used MITD as your sonic backdrop muse?

Or would the work come out radically different, say, looking like a crossword puzzle full of ham radio call letters/numbers?

What does talk radio do to an artist's hand?  Is it ~possible~ to create art from... cough... Art?

(The Funyun thing on the other thread was pretty damn cool. haha )

As much as I enjoy Art, MITD ... It's only a very small part of me. The art (painting)  is something else entirely and deeply intimate to me down to my core, in my bones  and my connection I make to the subject. 80 percent of my work that in known for is the Afghan Hound art and many worldwide follow me for that and are my clients. I grew up in the breed and in show world. Much now is paintings at the shows, designing logos, portraits. I'm working on four national shows this year.  But it's deeper to the core of what these dogs were as family. I think that is what attracts and manifests the success as in already booked into next year.

The music comes in when I hear it in my head, get the signal intuitively just before or as in about to begin the painting. And the music has an intimate connection to me as well. Also melody and rhythm. If I'm working on a high energy movement piece (whether a dancer or greyhound in action) the music produces and flows from me, to the brush to the canvas. I do not want to hear talking while I paint or others ideas and energy. Can't allow it to disrupt me.

Very similar to the 'metaphysical' aspect of Way of The Brush in Sumi e. Also as an intuitive I channel and with the reiki use the energy further to punctuate it the intent of the art. Of course the work and time into it. Ideas are one thing, but producing the idea and follow through most important. And selling.

Art's show has allowed me when the work day is done to listen to guests that may tap into all this and my work over years understanding and much study. However, if I were to paint to a guest it would be Fr. Malachi Martin (miss him)?

I've got a series of Tarot Paintings that I may have worked into a deck. All my art has metaphysical, energy into them, even if a doodle.

Here is a doodle. Verizon was kind enough to have a post it pad and pen waiting for me in the waiting area. Lemme doodle for you how furious I am with you fkking up my plan! Haha

I usually take evening walks by the bay, since we live less than 5 minutes from the beach. Last night I decided to walk through the marsh behind my house instead. I'm glad I did. I had my first owl encounter! He let me get very close. He was as curious about me as I was about him. I love owls, so this was a really great experience.  :)   Not the best shots, since I didn't have the right flash on, but I got some okay shots.

Those are really nice photos, maybe it'll be back out there again tonight.  I think it's a Northern Spotted Owl, do you live near old growth forest?

Great photos! I had some baby owls in my hollow tree last year but my lack of ability and saw only at night I couldn't get photos. It would seem the human eye can see in darkness much better than a smartphone or Point-And-Shoot digital camera. I had same problem with a whole family of ducks (Black-Bellied Whistling Wood Ducks) that decided my yard was a pond, after the floods, and live in the trees. Mamma and Daddy leading 10 ducklings (that have amazing camouflage) in a row across my yard. I wish I had my camera.
Good news, if you will likely be able to hear Art's new show MITD on KLX-FM in your area! I'm jealous.

I do. We have a lot of huge, old cedars in the marsh. I, too, think it's a spotted owl.

Thanks! Unfortunately, I don't get KXL unless I listen to it online. We do get KXL on the radio when we go camping down by Mt. St. Helens.

Hey, thanks! It varies on what subject and style of work I'm doing at that time. I like gouache as I can work with it for an opaque feel or as a watercolor. Ink dyes, chinese inks. Oils and soft pastels. Currently back to oil painting, but back and forth with others too. Just depends on want to produce from the work.

Thank you!  I don't have the equipment to do my own printing, so I use a third-party company to print and ship my work. I have some of my favorites up there now. I still have tons to upload when I have time.
