Thank yeeewww! Even Hoagland said I 'really did my homework' so I'm glad that it sounds that way. It'll air next Saturday night at 10.

Why interview Hoagland? Seriously. What has he actually done of any importance? If there is something substantial, I would like to know about it. I have listened to him for years and have yet to hear one independently substantiated thing he has contributed. I know the excuse that AB gives, good radio. I think hogland muddies the water for the truly serious investigators.

You nailed it.  I think they expect us to give constructive feedback.

Not singling you out Philosopher. Just a convenient comment to comment on.

I have not seen any constructive criticism as yet. One point that I would make is that is easy to have a good show when one has a good guest. I wish people would stop making comparisons to AB. He has had plenty of stinkers himself, like when he gives Hoagland air time, among others. AB is good but he aint god. I just hope this doesnt turn into an XXX isnt Art Bell pissing contest.

That's totally true, and I'm nothing but excited about it.
It's just hard to eat paranormal hamburger after you've tasted paranormal filet mignon.
But this is a budding enterprise that I'm sure will grow into something awesome.

Have to disagree , at least as regarding podcast ufo. That was a difficult guest. One of the ones that wont shut up long enough to interact. I liked the science , or what was purported to be science (have not read the papers yet). Give it a chance, it will grow on you.  Have not listened to the second one yet.

Dr. Schoch is on a phone line, so his fidelity would not be up to mine...thanks for tuning in!

Its not a big deal at all. Probably an artifact of speech compression somewhere in his audio train. I am just wanting to report it as I hear it. I am a ham radio operator and listen to things more critically than I should. One of my friends always wants me to listen to his morse code signal from his homebuilt equipment because I tell him the real truth. I am used to picking morse code out of lightning crashes, this is a walk in the park. It would get a 59

I so miss the dial and connection tones my old 28.8 modem made. I would pay for a browser that made that sound every time I opened it up to "surf" the web.

The host sounds good, Schock is iffy. Dont think this has anything to do with the streaming mechanism itself.  You getting similar results jaz?

I agree, only quality content should be approved to be aired on The Art Bell Paranormal Network. Not just any yahoo who wants to air stuff.  But, lets keep in mind that the new network is not just about podcasts and shows. Remember that the website as a whole has also soo much to offer as well!! I think there should be a weekly or monthly drawing on artbell.com as well as contests, promotions etc. Id also like to see an artbell channel on youtube really developed and linked from artbell.com. So basically, the development of The Art Bell Network involves yes the podcasts, but also the website and the content and user interaction features as well.

I think the idea is to create a version of old tyme AM radio on the internet, without mega corporations involved. All of the people that are going to be on right now have a proven ability. Future ones may not, but whats the worst that could happen?

In the Uk? Several times.. I think the precedent was a University professor who was libeled on a forum (may have been a chat room) and won. The forum host was held liable as well as the offender. As far as I recall he received substantial damages and an apology.

That makes sense, but he wouldnt be enough of a public figure in the US. I would guess he would be treated as a private citizen and afforded protection from libel and slander. Public figures dont fare well in the US. They are pretty much open season, with few restriction. I dont understand why they arent more protected myself.

and as owner of said website, it's your name above the door, and so therefore can and probably would be held responsible (depending on the laws of the relevant country) for all manner of things deemed offensive or damaging.. Which is why certain threads might sometimes get removed/ edited. It isn't the respective admins being over officious; it's them not wanting to get arrested!

Have there ever been any court cases or legal proceedings resulting from conflicts between two anonymous people?

Of course not.  The Constitution doesn't apply to private individuals, companies, etc...

The first amendment doesn't grant you "freedom of speech" anywhere you want.

However, people try to use it as if it is.  When a politician/pundit/entertainer, heck anyone says something controversial and faces backlash for it or loses their job they SCREAM "MY FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS ARE BEING VIOLATED"  However, they are not.

If I own a website and you post something I don't like, I have the absolute right to censor it and remove you from the website.  You have no "First Amendment" rights here.
Yup. Agee 100%. I interpreted what some other guy said to mean people have no right to say things (with the exceptions that the Supreme Court has ruled on). You can say whatever you want, but face the consequences from the extreme of jail to merely getting kick out of a web site. Thought it was worthwhile to amplify this a bit. No one is going to jail from slandering anonymous people, or from pointing out the George Noory is incompetent at his job.

To be specific and to use your own quote.. no it doesn't say you can say anything you want.

"CONGRESS SHALL make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances"   (emphasis added).

It is ONLY talking about government.  If I own a website/shop and you walk in and say something I don't like, I have the right to kick you out.  So you do not have absolute right to free speech wherever and whenever you want.

Sure you can kick people out, but not on any sort of constitutional / 1st amendment basis.

Yes, yes....yelling "fire" in a crowded theater, with any right comes responsibility, etc.  I get that, didn't infer otherwise.  The point about "freedom of speech" v. "1st Amendment rights" is well taken, however.  I should have used the former expression.

None of this changes my point, however, that I would like to hear Art's position on censoring this site based on someone saying something in poor tastes, beyond the norm, or just plain stupid.  His strong suit as a talk show host was to allow both callers and guests have their say, regardless how out-there.  My guess is Art would not want to see that happen as long as he ( or any other poster) has an equal opportunity to respond to whatever is said.

Was not aware there were free speech issues between anonymous people via the internet. Dont think so. The poster you were replying to is reaching.

Personally, I think this idea is great. I could care less about live call in because the vast majority are a waste of time, in my opinion. True, there are some that make it a worthwhile concept, but not a deal breaker. I have listened to Martin Willis quite a bit and enjoy his gentle, non confrontational yet intelligent style.

I think BellGab is great and having MV streaming on his website was a lot of fun, but one of the worst things Art did with Dark Matter were his constant references to the forum. Here and there was fine but it ended up making him look like his audience was very, very small. Now that Sirius/XM gave him a final answer about the NC, waiting two years and going into an online format won't do him any favors. If he thought his base was shrinking with Dark Matter, he's in for a shock at 70.
People like this wont be there.

I found that to be embarrassing for a 68 year-old man to engage in sour grapes on his way out rather than leave gracefully once he was told no. Acting as though he had bargaining power with Sirius/XM after burning his bridge earlier this month by saying he will not share time with them? How arrogant and delusional. I love you, Art. You entertained me for years back in the 90s but because of your actions after leaving Dark Matter, you've left a poor legacy for us to remember you by. If you're back in two years, great, but I doubt we'll be hearing from you again.

A circle jerk of jerk offs.
