Oh, good, she got the message and correctly said "Sca-lee-ah"

Obviously never paid ANY attention to the court.
Not into public affairs, it seems.  I don't blame her for that, other programs commonly have a news reader on the hour.  But it is extreme that she could've gone the past 36 hrs. w/o hearing Scalia's name, meaning she doesn't listen to news at all.

I love being on the west coast .  The show comes on at 9pm.  Lovely

Scaley-uh? What a stupid bitch. Listening to Heather read the news is on the same level as waterboardind. Fuck me.

bitch? that is a bit much. Really you should just call someone that right before they kill your family, not when they read you some news.

It must be just as she said, she's had her nose buried in written matter preparing all weekend for the show, never turned on the radio & heard Scalia's name pronounced.

How can you fuck up an Italian name?

Tinfoil_Helm

Scaly-uh?  How?!?  FUCK, lady...

I just posted this in AB's thread:

This was probably suggested 1,000 posts ago, but maybe Heather is Art's daughter?  That would explain why someone so... ummm, rough on the air would get the job.  Plus, she's half-Asian, which makes sense given Art's proclivities.

What you call reading I call slaughtering.

LOL these suckers can't turn it off! Ha! Under her spell!

Auslandia

Instead of posting your disappointment on Bellgab why not send her a wormhole message & help her out?

Quote from: Donald Noory on February 15, 2016, 11:11:35 PMWhat did she say? Poo-gee-oh? Did she mean Peugeot?
Obviously.  But most non-French-speakers have about as much trouble w that one, unless they're into cars.  OK, so doesn't listen about public affairs or cars.  As opposed to Noory, who doesn't listen about anything.

Damning w faint praise, I know.

Not hard.  Half the people w Italian names anglicize them, half don't.  How should we pronounce Camille Paglia's last name, for instance?

mebbe just skip the news.  It never goes well for her

Yeah, reminds everyone right at the beginning that it's an amateur.  I've gotten used to her inflections and there aren't any women on the radio or among her guests (since I've been paying attention to that) I prefer in tone.  A little work on pronunciation would do wonders.

This is a fair question. Italian has shockingly simple rules for pronunciation.

Admittedly, not being a speaker, I never learned them until I was 42, but then again, I'm not sitting in front of a microphone.

Sure BUT such prominent public figures? Many people "anglicize" the name pronunciations (not just the Eye-ties) but once they are in the press, culture etc one should know how to pronounce the way that individual does. Though there are some cases, Roosevelt, comes to mind in which the various ones are still pronounced differently depending on who is saying it, and to whom people are referring? Always bugged me.

Sean92008

Tuned in hoping for more pronuncitive hijinks BUT only heard her tell me shit will be important in the future.

Fuck, what is wrong with this bitch?  Was she raised on a compound in the middle of nowhere by two uncaring parents that used a TV to babysit her?  There's no understanding of how to relate here.  Don't fucking tell me how important something is going to be to me sans details.  Tell me how you'll rock my world not just leave it at that my world will be rocked.  Fine nuance but crucial.

Sounds like an infomercial tonight.

Shut down the stream.  Bob Crane must have signed a contract that stated "as long as MitD is on..."  not thinking that AB would quit and put a fucking amateur in his place.  Same thing with that Motorola deal.  He voiced the commercial for them and the deal probably says "he provides the voice talent and it airs during MitD..."

If the show is going to the shitter, I should have listened to the crap at the beginning of the show.  It seems putting something to read in front of her is a big challenge that she rarely rises to the occasion for.   ::)

I've enjoyed her voice ever since she was a host on GabCast.

Protip: always hit youtube before the show to make sure the pronunciations are correct.

But it does no good to pronounce it the Italian way only to find out the family is miffed because they've anglicized its pronunciation for the past century.

What bothers me is that it seems a majority pronounce "coup de grace" as "coo de gra".  They know French endings have a lot of silent letters, which is OK w the "p" in "coup", but it comes out sounding in French like "coup de gras", "blow of fat/grease".

She can't sacrifice the bandwidth.  Heather must be the hardest working woman on the 'net.  Phone sex, Skype sessions and right to MitD.  There ain't no room for pre-show prep. or listening to the radio news while in the shower.  She knows her men prefer sloppy seconds.
