Walton has done a series of commercials for the local hospitals here, hometown boy that he is...  Overly dramatic, a real-close mic technique that is almost as annoying as HW's wild inflection issues.

They're a pair, a match made in a non-existent Heaven.  Doubly not listenable unless she's REALLY into sports.  When he gets started talking on our sports station...  He shines there.

Just look at this one document.  If you can look at this, and not recognize the sophstication of modern covert online operations, then we can just agree to disagree.  But frankly I think that anyone with a few watts in their cranium will find their hair standing on end after a few moments of perusing this document, because it indicates extensive and highly advanced programs to fuck with your mind:

What I see is a Powerpoint presentation with lots of fancy charts, words, strategies and tactics. No indications of how widespread this activity might be, no analysis of the negative and positive effects, no explanation of the goals of this program, no revelations about which muckety-muck is trying to accomplish which plan for global domination, etc.

Many of the Snowden revelations attempt to shock us with evidence that governments really are as sneaky as we thought they were. They are just confirmation for me that the world is what I thought it was. In the end, you still have to sort out which problems are most serious and need the most attention. 

I think we need to have or get a handle on abuse of government power (an ongoing, permanent task) but I am not going to worry too much about Anonymous being, ironically, targeted by other hackers -- even if they are from the government. Google or my ISP reading my e-mail, crooks running various Internet scams and those damn Russian trolls infesting comments sections on every news article concerning Russia are higher on my list of concerns.

When I think about these spy boys trying to control the Internet, I think of Newman, the mailman from Seinfeld, and his famously evil pronouncement: "When you control the mail, you control information."

I had originally thought that it would have been a great interview for Art because of his and Bill's history of back issues. Walton's next book is supposed to focus a lot on the spinal issues that left him a virtual invalid for several years, and the surgery that he says saved his life.

You make me sad.  Most intelligent people look at that document and immediately recognize that covert government intelligence agencies have bloomed wildly out of control, are obviously sophisticated, well-funded, and well-established at this point, are operating without any measure of sensible oversight, and are currently working inside our own society with absolutely no moral compass whatsoever.

Not you though.  You're not going to see there's a problem until it's on your doorstep, and then suddenly you'll gasp aloud at the injustice of it all.

I prefer to read the writing on the wall.  Willful ignorance is tyranny's best friend.
