Again, let's assume Art made it all up. Nobody is getting their 5 bucks back.

Keith said you could get yourself a refund. All you have to do is go ask, but give him time to process. It's the price of a cup of coffee.

Anything is possible in science fiction I guess.  What is your point?

That this entire situation is turning into a giant cluster because people are just trying to plug holes with anecdotal evidence.

You may want to work on your reading comprehension then.

I dunno about whomever but what I do know is that *I* need to work on my reading comprehension.  Saw some posts
about Art moving over to team up with Alex Jones.   Almost broke out in hives..........  Had to re-read everything to
see it was just a suggestion.

I need to drop this shit and move on w/ life.   The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and leaves need raking.

Yeah I spent more on lunch on Friday than I spent on DMRN since July.  Keith can keep the money.  The network DID work since July.  It would be disingenuous to take my money back now.

Everyone is on a different spectrum regarding disposable income. But, yeah, I spend more money on one lunch than I do on 6 months of DMRN.

What in the bloody fucking hell is wrong with so many of you blabbing retards!!!

He's quitting so he can be with his family at night instead of off somewhere leaving them alone!!!

I have never seen so much Bullshit in my fucking life!!!  Like you're fucking defective detectives on the fucking totally missing WHY THE FUCK THERE ARE NOT ANY OTHER OPTIONS FOR HIM LEST HE LEAVE HIS WIFE AND LITTLE GIRL TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES!!!  JESUS BLOODY CHRIST!!!

lol, at least we can always count on you to be our steady rock of reason utterly incoherent nonsense.

I'm wondering what the legal ramifications are. Was a contract signed with WABC or the other affiliates? IS DMDN now in breech of contract by pulling a bait and switch (inadvertently) or not providing content at all?

Yeah I think it might be a shit show for somebody.

Hoping Keith is not left on his own to clean up that possible mess. Poor guy.

My guess is that the contract specified that the show "Midnight in the Desert" would be provided, not specifically Art Bell. At least I would hope that's the case, otherwise someone is being sued for breach of contract.  :o

+1....really good question!

The more I think about this entire mess, the less it makes any sense.

IF this entire issue is safety for Art's family ( and I am not doubting that it is), there are many possible solutions, both interim and long term to the issue other than Art quitting MITD.

By his decision, he has put many other people in a very bad situation, professionally and financially.

Yeah, who would've thought a radio show and internet-based radio network would result in so much drama and intrigue? It has been bizarre from the get-go the RCH stuff and Art stuff. Like not run as a business with any plans, contracts, agreements, or even a business model. Too bad. I hope Keith etc isn't going to be out money or sued etc. It doesn't bode well for anybody there it seems, it terms of keeping it going or future jobs in the industry, sadly.

I'm surprised that anybody is surprised Art Bell quit.  Gotta say you could see it coming miles away when he first started to complain he wasn't getting enough time with his family. Fickle, fickle fickle - he wins handsdown.  I have to say the show was turning a bit nostalgic for me the last few months.
Fantastic run run anyways Art.  That was fun.  Enjoy your retiremnent.

Yes, he has. I would've whisked the family away to the Phillipines apartment for a bit while the stalker is caught and gotten several detectives and ex military types to stake out his place. Whoever the stalker is, he is an amateur - no match for several men who do their law enforcement jobs well. He could be caught easily, especially as he would probably be bold enough to sneak on to Art's property again, and then he would be caught once and for all. Airyn was a teacher, so she could easily handle Asia's education for a month or two.

I'll keep financially supporting DMDN for the next month or two. I also have a sub to OSOM. Ten bucks a month is not a lot to be out if it keeps the network alive. We'll see what happens.

Likewise. Not that my 10 bucks is going to make or break the entire enterprise.

Here's my dream-outcome (twinkling sounds)
A generous financier places 25 million in to a managed trust to maintain the basic network nuts and bolts, as well as subsidize union-scale pay for all staff. (hey, why not, it's MY dream!)
George Knapp agrees to do MITD Show in place of Art, weekend hosts are hired as needed. If and when Art feels up t it, he can do a show, just to keep his hand in the game.

Radio stations, "coast to coast" slowly pick up MITD, making it possible to drive anywhere in the country and hear MITD....

But, then, I woke up, and Snoory has taken over the entire radio-sphere and every stream on the Internet, Snoory dating sites occupy every single IP address on the Web, and every radio station has Snoory on the air, 24 hours a day....He NEVER, ever leaves the mic, not even to take a crap or a leak.....he is catheterized and has a toady with a handy bed pan to catch the Snoory-Droppings......People are seen wearing Snoory Amulets around their necks at Starbucks.....

Old Timer

Get real, people.

Art is the best at what he does, but he's always been a drama queen.

Love him, but that's the truth!

Sayonara, Art!  :P

Oh.  I was going to guess Lamont Cranston next.

You know, amateur detectives.  Not rodents.

Depends what it is. Taking over MITD? I wouldn't dare, nor was I was asked. I'm ramping up, however - read the last page of my thread.

Well, you do an excellent job and deserve all the French kissing you get around here.

Whatever future there is in paranormal media rests with you, as far as I am concerned.

The Philippines certainly could have been one option in the short term. As we know from previous incarnations, Art is able to broadcast from there or was.

Getting good private security, albeit intrusive for a while would have been another, instead of quitting the show and essentially leaving so many people relative to MITD pretty much unemployed and in financial stress.

With all of Art's connections over the years I am sure he would have had a lot of private assistance and advice on how to put this to an end, determine who the perp is and resolve any threat.

This is why none of what has transpired makes any sense whatsoever to me, unless the situation was used to get Art out of something he no longer wanted to do for reasons unknown. Even that makes little sense as he seemed to pumped about the rising affiliate count, the big stations picking up the show etc.

Sadly, even if he has some change of heart over the weekend by thinking things through more thoroughly, so much damage has been done by his seeming knee jerk reaction, I doubt that there is any hope of MITD growing to what it could have been if he changes his mind and opts to deal with this situation in another of many ways he could.

Art will likely be remembered with reverence as an innovator, a pioneer and one of the best broadcasters of all time and sadly also as a serial quitter, as melodramatic and a drama queen.

I really think it's over this time. I'm not sure how he could possibly get out of the latest fiasco this time with any credibility.

All of the above said, I thank him for the decades of wonderful radio and wish him and his family all the best.

I personally find the story of Art's mail order wife trying to bump him off so she can return to her boyfriend in the Philippines with Art's money to be the most entertaining suggestion.

And of all the theories, my personal favorite, out of sheer creativity.
Ah, Clownius.
