Just a thought, but the press would get their info from one of two places..  Art or the police. (I'm not counting Heather, because even though she saw pics of Art's knees, that doesn't really mean much, IMO).   The police dont have to tell the media or his fans jack squat.  They don't have anyone in custody, they couldn't find anyone, or much evidence apparently. This doesn't mean it was bogus, but they don't have solid info or leads.  Art isn't going to talk to the media-he IS the media, and he's told us about as much as he's probably told anyone else, so no need to do an official interview for anyone.

No.  Filling in a bunch of fantasies about what really happened, or what the police are doing or not doing, is suspension of disbelief.

Again.  It is reasonable to assume that Art isn't telling you everything.  I don't know what he is leaving out.  And it is likely minute details if anything.  But it is enough left out that the rabid nut job fans here are detecting some missing time, and going in with the stupidity cranked to 11 to fill in the blanks, or outright reject the entire explanation. Missing details does not mean Art is making the whole thing up.

If there was someone out to get AB and he or she was apprehended and arrested, charged and taken to court, he or she hasn't even got to speak to ensure their innocence. The prosecution has to prove their guilt (and in British courts) 'beyond reasonable doubt'.

I would say that at face value the whole alleged 'attack(s)' are too involved, too much going on. Far too much to ignore by any police officer worth his or her salary. I know for sure if all that has alleged to have happened, happened here in that space of time, the entire family would be put into police protection; even close family not told their whereabouts, no telephone contact, no letters. They would effectively disappear until the assailant had been caught and held in safe custody.

The 'details' missing are credibility. The police apparently came and had a look, several nights in total (but not daytime?). No questions? No knocking on neighbours doors to see if they knew/heard anything? No recommendation in leaving and staying elsewhere? Not even his wife and daughter at the very least? Seriously?

If that doesn't strike as at the very least incredible, then I don't know what you need to suggest fabrication of an event that didn't happen in reality.

Really do just see that my entire argument is that I am questioning those that are accusing Art of lying in the absence of what they imagine are satisfactory public statements from the police.  And that Art likely has an On-Air personality that we know and love, and a far more skeptical and rational Off-Air personality that we should probably be glad we don't know.

I have zero reason to be a fluffer for Art.  In fact, I've made plenty of tasteless comments myself about him that are still recorded in this forum for anyone who would care to drag them up.  I regret saying some of them, but have zero desire to take them back.  He has no shortage of "true believers", but its a bit ridiculous to lump me in with them because some of you guys have unrealistic expectations of police operations, and of Art's level of disclosure.

We don't know what the police did, or if they are continually doing.....

At some point, if certain threats are made, other agencies may become involved and the locals may not know everything even if they are willing to share.
