The GIS were meant to me on Dark Matter a week so ago and put it back due to some family issues. Perhaps Barbara is absent as a result of that.

I too am stoked about tonight's show. I've always been fascinated about EVPs particularly the ones presented by these guys. I am very skeptical (open mindedly)about a lot of topics/guests on Coasts/DM but these guys always came across as being genuine and 100% legit. I think the fact that they were never selling anything was the big tick for me.

I also would like to know whether Barbara has finally entered the 21st Century and is now using digital recorders. If they do open lines and a bellgabber gets on please ask this question.

Huuum... Instead of Barbra, Art's website lists "Jimmy Chunga" as joining Brendan tonight.

http://artbell.com/jimmy-chunga/

Just saw that this guy is a member of the GIS and has been since 1999. That's news to me. I was always under the assumption that the GIS was a closed group and they weren't accepting new members. It was always Brendan, Barabara, Jenny, Roger and Barry. Never heard about a Jimmy. Is he the Cousin Oliver of the GIS?

Tonights show is gonna be awesome !! I LOVE paranormal shtuff !

Yeah, who the fuck is this Chunga, his bio on Art's site makes him sound like a douchebag. He's a psychic sensitive who tours the world playing his electronic dance music? And oh my he has two paranormal shows in development and blah blah blah "I'm a radio host too and I can do this and this and this and this. Oh and I'm friends with Ben Hansen too! Haaaay!"

FUCK BEN HANSEN!!! I hate him about as much as Noory!

The whole reason I enjoyed the GIS shows was because there wouldn't be some "psychic sensitive" ASSHOLE for me to deal with and who does nothing but contaminate the evidence.

FUCK!

jazmunda

Agreed. Not sure I am happy with a "psychic" "sensitive" polluting the genuineness of the GIS.

The GIS might just have "jumped the shark" for me. We shall see.

A "psychic sensistive" for GIS?  What's this all about?  This sounds like a guest Noory would have on and dump after the first hour.  When I first saw the name, I almost thought Art was going to be talking to a Mexican restaurant chain rather than GIS.

Oh, well, at least it's Art.

Yeah, who the fuck is this Chunga...

Oh crap, he looks like Guy Fieri's dark haired brother.

I'd much rather hear Art order food from that place than interview psychic EDM TV Show boy.

Can't wait for this one.  Headphones recommended  8)

I always thought GIS was Barbara and Brendan. I am not at all interested in the psychic nonsense.

Uh-oh, Art Bell announced at the start of his show last night that if the congress defaults on the debt in a few weeks he would move back to the Philippines!

As long as he takes his Serius equipment with him he can move to Antarctica if he chooses... but he has to take the equipment to be allowed out of the country (if the government were not shut down I would say that we should write and ask them to declare him a national treasure and force him to remain...)

The good news is, the country will never default. It's almost a virtual impossibility.

Art, and everybody, can relax.

I haven't listened to last night's show yet, but it sounds as if you were correct about Chunga Bunga.  I think we found Barbara's "personal problem."  Sounds like GIS was hijacked by a scam artist who isn't much of an artist.

Yup.

Tuning into one of Art Bell's shows is like walking by the Sistine Chapel in about 1510, and stopping to go inside to watch the guy painting the ceiling.

I tell you, he should have used the "2" brush on God's finger.  The one he used made it look a bit too unrealistic.

I like this post, PB, and very much agree.  I don't need to believe, or even enjoy, most of Art's guests to appreciate the radio mastery of Art Bell.  He's one in a million.   I can snark on Chumlee and Weeber for hours, and it doesn't take one thing away from the fact that every single day that Art is on the air is a day to be treasured.  We never know how many more days we will have him, and the last 10 years have been much the poorer for the lack.  If I happen to enjoy a guest or topic, as with Michio, LMH or (god help me) Jonathan Reed, it's just icing on the ceiling.

I think the correct analogy would be viciously criticising his choice of subjects to paint and telling him that they do not look realistic enough.

I agree 100%.

I don't need to believe in all the subject matter as long as the tale is told well and masterfully spun then I am happy. For all the Chunga and Streiber charlatans, there are gems like Kaku and LMH and many others.

I don't necessarily believe in OBEs but I thought Albert Taylor was a great guest and a fantastic show.

Even RCH for all his crazy theories is an extremely entertaining guest and show.

Reed and his Alien in the Freezer is clearly a hoax but it's a tale that's told well.

The common denominator is the host who is an absolute Master at his craft and has me on the edge of my seat half believing the Streiber's of this world.

Absolutely.  If anybody needs a reminder of just how bad radio can be, all they have to do is tune into Dave.

the GIS show was fun but Chunga proved to be a bit of a douche.  some of the EVP's were too good to be believed.  which makes me wonder if Chunga is putting one over on his teammates.  and us.

I hope that is the case because I would be very disappointed if Brendon was in on it. I always thought Brendon was very genuine which was part of the charm and believability of the GIS.

Last nights episode was the Hollywood equivalent of the GIS. Kinda like how Hollywood takes a run of the mill "haunting" where the occasional thing might happen to it turning into a demonic possession situation with things flying around, people levitating and little girls heads spinning.

That "get out" EVP was completely BS and taints all the previous goodwill the GIS have earned over the years. A few of the other newer EVPS, the really clear and long ones were complete BS too and has Chunga written all over it.

The fact that Chunga inserted himself into past investigations that he was not apart of and into GIS history that he was not apart of was extremely off putting.

Chunga has tainted the GIS IMHO.

That might sound harsh or vicious but I don't like to be taken for a fool.

Bring back Barbara!

Makes me wonder if Brendan wasn't planting EVPs the whole time and using Barbara for the authenticity of her reaction and belief in the material.
