Why does Dave have to say 'hey gang' all the time like he is talking to a bunch of children?

I think it's even funnier that they make it out as if he is personally writing that post instead of some intern.

Sirius will make a couple bucks off this arrangement but it won't impact their bottom line significantly.  and it certainly won't affect their stock price

We'll see. I believe between this, and Limbaugh likely moving and no longer having C2C packaged with him, it's going to make a significant dent in their bottom line. Look at it this way... Everyone is going to want to listen to Art. You might have a small percentage who are Dave fans, but overall most of C2C's audience is going to want to hear Art. They'll listen to Art's show for 3 hours and then C2C will come on. Dave will do his impersonation of an intelligent person when he reads, but then look like the moron he is when he goes of script. I find it hard to believe people are going to sit in front of their radio for 4 hours of subpar entertainment right after they just listened to Art for 3. They might hang in there for a little while, but I would bet there is a significant drop off after C2C's first hour.

If you do a google search for Art right now, you get hundreds of hits from today alone talking about his return. It's a huge deal, and people are going to find ways to listen to him.

One of the things that I always enjoyed about Art was his appreciation for the best in television.  There on some good shows on the tube, believe it or not, and Art usually managed to find them.  I happen to know that he's a fan of Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead (two shows I'm also crazy over), from comments his wife has made on her FB page.  It'll be nice to hear his comments on the shows as Breaking Bad starts its final season next month and The Walking Dead begins Season 4 in October.

I so agree!  Will be cool to hear Art's take our the very current pop culture.

Hell, I still got my Levitron! Lemme give that baby a whirl.  ;D

What's funny about this is i STILL find myself wanting Art's magic magnetic water purifier because he made the ad sound so good.

Since many of us are trying to figure out ways to carve $12-15 bucks a month out of our budget in order to pay to hear Art Bell on the radio again, even if it is satellite pay radio, here are the ways I save:

Buy toiletries and paper goods (napkins, TP, paper towels) at the Dollar Store.
Buy store brands of some foods instead of name brands.
Yes, recycle your cans and bottles:  be sure you go to a recycler that actually gives you cash and not just a voucher for grocery shopping, which is what my recycling places does.
Cancel a subscription to something you don't use much:  for me, I'm thinking about cancelling my Netflix subscription.
If you're a movie goer or a restaurant goer, go out to eat or to the movies 1-2 times less a month.
Forego Starbucks and Jamba Juice (for me, this means learning to make my own smoothies and bringing coffee in a thermos from home).

And last but not least, look around at your junk and see what you can sell on Amazon or eBay.  Not meaning to brag, but last year I sold a used book I'd had sitting around since the 1980s for over $200 on Amazon.  There is money to be had in your used books if they're out of print and still in demand.  I also made $100 selling (on eBay) an Estee Lauder collectible compact I'd had sitting in my drawer for 20-some years.  Poke around amongst your junk and see what you can sell to raise funds:  odds are you can raise the amount for a year's subscription to Sirius without too much trouble.  (Well, SOME trouble, but worth it, I feel).

Look what popped up in my Facebook feed.

What a shyster. A "super value"? Sounds like he's selling dish rags on late night TV.

I think it's nice that you are doing this for people. I also recommend that people put effort into getting Sirius for a discounted price. YOu can call them up, get a promo price which is less than half the cost, and get a really nice free radio from them at the same time. I would recommend people do this now though. When September rolls around they are going to be flooded with new subs, and they are going to be less likely to give you a deal.

Are you sure you don't work for the Dollar Store or own stock in it? ;)

Thanks for the tips. Keep them coming.

Read all the comments. Its full of people saying they would rather pay $15 a month to hear Art. I think C2C really messed up by keeping Dave instead of doing what Art wanted them to do.

After seeing crap on the C2C site like the "kiddie cartoon" abortion below, I believe it's because Dave thinks he's running a night time Romper Room.

LOL , love it Nowhere in Time !
Prim. Knows full well that NIT would be a non starter and an all around flop ,

As soon as PremRat pulls SIT, I can see stations everywhere trying to replace it with ANYTHING but "NIT wit' Dave Noorie."

Frankly, I prefer The 99 Cents store:  ours has fresh produce and a larger variety of "stuff" than the Dollar Store has.  Still, there's stuff I get at the Dollar Store that I can't get at the 99 Cents Store.  I suggest trying BOTH of them out and seeing which store more fits your needs.  And both, yes, have plastic crap from China (I avoid buying that nearly all of the time).

And, ladies, the Beauty Drops Vit. E Moisturizer at the 99 Cents Store is the deal of the century.  Has kept my skin as dewy and glowing as when I was using Aveeno for over 10 times the price.

And the Snyders pretzels?  At the 99 Cents Store; not at the Dollar Store like I think I mistakenly suggested earlier.

(TIP:  Check expiration dates!  Some of the food items can sometimes be somewhat close to expiring.)

Any tips for just what to say to the Customer Service rep to get them to give you a free radio, or will they just automatically offer you one?  I'd love to hear from someone here who's recently gotten Sirius to give them a free radio:  for some reason, that part of the great deals they give over the phone I have a hard time believing.

Why are we calling him Dave now? What did I miss?

Quote from: kingotnw on July 30, 2013, 09:15:23 PMA lot of C2C listeners seem ready to make the switch some September. I wonder what the ratings will look like for both shows at year's end.

Apparently SiriusXM keeps their ratings a secret, so we wont be hearing about Art's ratings. Unles he some how convinced them to let him have a look. But, we'll be able to see George's ratings take a dive wont we? Muahaha! ;D

I love seeing the comments on the c2c fb saying they're switching to SiriusXM to listen to Art.

Daves not here man.

Briefly, lonevoice contacted a local talk radio program manager prior the announcement to try to get the scoop.  But, Jorch is so vital to the industry that said PM mistakenly called him Dave Noorie.

It was funny for a minute there.

Ravenna you should start a new thread on tips on how people can save to listen to Art. It would be an awesome thread. I'm sure we all have something to add as well.

Naw.  I think I'm spent on the "savings tips."  But it is true that doing just a couple of the things I've mentioned will save a person $12-15 a month.  Meaning, if a person really tries (and, granted, isn't unemployed), there is a way to carve enough out of your budget to pay to listen to Art on Sirius.  That is, if their convictions don't get in the way.  I know those people, the "Radio Should Be Free" people.  I used to be one of them.  Art has changed all that for me.  Heck, maybe I will even like pay radio:  who knows.  I know I do like the idea of the show repeating each night, and the "on demand" feature.  You don't get THAT with free radio.

999

We had XM way back when they started. Discontinued after Rollye James went off the air there. Wonder if our old radio would still work? We had it hooked up to a Ramsey A.M. transmitter so we could listen to it on any regular radio in the house or on the deck etc.

Needle woman

I am just so happy, I can't stop thinking that we will really hear Art soon!!  He got me through a couple years dark period when I felt so alone.  When he left the air I was so sad, felt like I had lost my best friend.  He was always there when I couldn't sleep.  I loved his "special lines" like "secret agent" line, or time traveler, or Area 51 line, I loved them all.  Wow! He's back!

With the quality of "radio" we get today, I'll happily pay for Art.

So was it Keith the whole time when we thought it was Art?  He probably got a chuckle out of that :P

Either way it's all still very fun and exciting! I hope this continues up until the start date.
