As if that alone wasn't bad enough, the drinking water for a large area (ie 88 suburbs) was contaminated because of storms last night.

A leaked government report came out yesterday saying they were going to extend basically all of the restrictions past the previously announced end date of Sep 13 with very minor changes. The government's reaction was only stating that it was an out of date report, but they didn't deny that's what's going to happen or say what actually will happen.
It feels like there's a very real chance of riots and civil disobedience if they do extend them without major easing of restrictions on that date.

Yes, with the same reasoning. It was unclear for the first lockdown, so there was a run on alcohol until the government clarified. First lockdown most stores were still open (home improvement, clothing, hobby, etc) but this time it's only healthcare, supermarkets, bottle shops/butchers/grocers, and restaurants/cafes if they're takeaway/delivery only (pubs and bars are closed).
