Sorry about the douchbag part. It's been a long day fighting the natives. Actually the stache is pretty cool. Resembles someone we all know though.

No worries.  It's not like anything written on the internet is worth anything.  A witch's brew at best. Ron has a great stache

Agreed. Doesn't sound like a very lawyerly statement. Also very unprofessional to make a public statement like that. Cards need to be held close to their chests. Happy to be wrong if confirmed by Art and Paul but that post does not inspire much confidence.

I think it played a necessary balance between not disclosing important details, as well as setting the record straight in pointing out Art wasn't just pulling an Art. When Art left Sirius, everyone was laying the blame on Art and second guessing his motivations. I know I was. This statement from a source other than Art, puts everything into better perspective for those that remained unconvinced. If things hadn't played out as they have, a large part of the statement would not have been necessary. Does it reveal more than would typically be revealed in a legal statement? Yes.  Does it set things straight so that everyone can see it is something worth fighting for? Yes.  It's a worthwhile compromise I think, especially now that we are seeing action from the fan base.

First of all my sincere congrats to Premiere Radio, they made the right move. Business is War
and I would have done the same exact thing, and did in my day.

It was fun while it lasted.  Happy trails

I'm pretty sure the wording hasn't changed at all. Certainly not since Art last posted saying he still hadn't heard back from them. Wishful thinking, I'm afraid. I do wish he'd come and say something, though.

The wording on the middle paragraph was that the lawyers were going to sort it, which lead some people to think that Art was going through lawyers.  It was then changed to "working out the details with Sirius".  I think they changed the wording to stop giving the impression Art was invoking lawyers, not that they were getting closer to sorting it all out.

Art did this to himself.

If any good can come of this, my hope is that Art learns to stop doing things like that.

When Art started saying that something was going on in the background, my worst fear was that C2C were being brought on board.  And here we are... fuck. I'm still hopeful that Art can continue in the short term, but this turn of events is raining hard on that possible parade.

Good News! Good News!  Good News!

I just made a deal with the D. .  (not the Producer)

I contacted Sirius listener care and told them if they would get Art Bell back on the air, I will be a paid subscriber.

In that conversation he said that Mr. Bell's channel was one of the most popular ones.  That he looked for him to be back on Sirius soon.  That was from a representative in Listener Care at Sirius.

Sounds like a rep that would say anything just to get a sale.

CALL FROM SIRIUS

I asked could he return and she said he will "never" be on Sirius.  I replied "never?"  Barb responded "ever."  When I asked her how she knew that, Barb said her "superior" told her that, and when I asked who that was she simply repeated "my superior."

I guess now it all comes down to whether they let him out of the non-compete, or if he fights it.

can you splain to me why you fink dis?
Just thinking outside of the box.  There are plenty of reasons that can be picked out to say that it won't happen, and they are entirely valid. Sometimes though, there are elements that we can't account for in our bullet proof logic, as they are outside the scope of view. I'm betting on that.

No, we won't hear a show today. I keep thinking he might pop in and talk for a bit, but that doesn't seem to be Art's style. He'll probably keep quiet until something concrete happens.

Ok I am going to leave for now. I wanted to come on to at least try and explain what I could, there
is much I am unable to say because it was said to me in confidence and I must respect that.

Perhaps there is a point where Sirius and I can work things out, as I have said I am open to that
but people are angry and I understand that. Again I am sorry. Feel free to continue to slice and dice.

Art, your biggest challenge is the paid for model. Those free trials ended because of that. It may seem that a lot of it was because of the disconnects.  However, that is only because you had verifiable complaints from some people. It can be measured. What can't be measured, is how many dropped because they found a way to get it free. Or, really couldn't justify it when there is a free option, or simply couldn't afford it period. For the most part, no one is going to say anything when this happens. You are not going to get that same feedback you are getting from the paying guests about disconnects.

The reason you have a large trucker audience is because the paid for model works for them. It is an expense that they can justify given the nature of their job. They are also unlikely to pirate the show because of that. Not just because they won't run into the disconnect problem via the internet.

If the issue is indeed not having a full blown audience, then the compromise on your part is to tailor the show to accommodate for that.  It may not be the perfection you expect, but perfection is never attained, and is only ever worked toward. That can be changed, along with your view on it. Even at your age, there is still plenty to work towards.

After reading about this here and on facebook, here is one thing that I do not get:

Art Bell apologists.

Why? He committed professional suicide on his fans hard-earned dollar.

Why the hell would anyone in their right mind give him another chance?

He didn't commit suicide for the sake of suicide.  His subscriber base was shriveling up once the free trials expired.  He was attempting to fix it with what he thought might work (free streaming for a year). Since Sirius said no to that, Art closed up shop since in his mind, it was going to continue hemorrhaging listeners, and wouldn't be able to continue the way he wanted. It probably could have limped along for a while, but you know what they say about zombies, they keep movin', but they ain't alive.

Well, at least it wasn't some hardball attempt to get his own way at the expense of the listeners. The show had it's challenges with the subscriber format I guess. That's too bad. It was fun while it lasted

On an episode of Dark Matter, Art mentioned that he didn't like to be thought of as a serial retiree. Yet, here we are not long after, and Dark Matter is over. Sure, there could be more going on right now, but choosing to do it this way is the absolute worst way of doing it, all things considered. Just to address a streaming issue.... Even if this is "just business", it's not very well done at all. Piss poor in fact

It sums it up pretty good,

It's quite obvious that anarchy would never work given our current level of development.  You get the governance you are capable of having.. Go obamacare!!!

Yeah you are agreeing with yourself because you are also chunter, cmotors.

The writing style and sentence structure are the same.

No, I'm not chunter, nor do I play one on the internet. I think that may have been the first time reading anything he wrote.  Sorry dudes, completely unrelated person.

We need to completely get rid of all government. Complete freedom.

But I think before we can move into that direction and get rid of government, we need to evolve spiritually.

I agree with this.  However, it is so far beyond what people can comprehend as being possible (evolving to that level), that it is from their view: fairy tale land.  Until that could ever happen, the basic functional approach of "do this to accomplish that" to the nth degree will continue to be the lay of the land for the foreseeable future.

In his defense, wasn't the show on at 3am London/his time?

It was 6am London time. Probably means he was just waking up. I remember an interview with Dannion Brinkley where he had to be dropped fairly early because he was either on medication, or extremely tired.
