He has a lot of growing up to do. A lot. Losing tonight and how he deals with it will say quite a bit about his character.  I was chopping tomatoes so only listened to the anthem. Btw Lady Gaga was great

Did the time for the anthem go over or under?  My guess is over.

Tiges my dear, when ya got 2 mins. left for a possible hero's drive downfield to win the SB ..  NFL code of honor says "Jump on the damn ball" not "Deftly dance away from it".   ;)
I'm totally with you on this. Can't think of another QB (maybe Manziell) that would have reacted like that. ergo maturity and character building. Wasn't an excuse, more an observation, sweet squirrel

that play was right after the incomplete pass. Panthers should had the ball on the 40ish and the next play call might have been a hand off

not sure what he was thinking there but the entire party i was at was like..WTF!!!!

You know he'll be asked about this, and what can he say? Every other player tries to jump on every loose ball, including this one, and he just stands there. Even backs away a bit. He was in good position to make the recovery, too. How about, "We would've lost anyway"?

i really am not sure what he can do to answer that properly..

If you bet the national anthem on bovada it came in under 2.20 because they end it when she said "brave" if you bet elsewhere it went over

Oh for sure I agree with your observation.   :)  I can understand the reticence - it'd be like grabbing for a fish at the base of a 40-ft. wave about to crash on you.  Heck I wouldn't go near that ball myself, I'd end up flatter than a low-carb tortilla.   :-\

AvDaBr

Maybe Cam was trying to get to a phone booth when he fumbled that ball.  Maybe one of the Bronco defenders grabbed him by the cape.  Who knows?

And I observe your agreement. I often think about if I was out there for 5 seconds, I'd just be a little oily spot and a patch of striped fur

:D Sensible theory

I've enjoyed the after party but that one beer I had is catching up with me. See you in September  :'(

Congratulations to the Denver Broncos!

Other thoughts: Carolina had a terrible offensive game plan, Wade Phillips is going to blitz you all the time and you should be ready for it. This is no secret.
This is the most attention I've ever paid to the length of the national anthem.
The bets were 56% for Carolina( favorite) and 56% for the over (favorite). The underdog won both times this year.
I won on Denver, lost on the Over so I only ended up losing a little bit of money.

Things we (maybe) learned-

Wade Phillips is awesome.

The halftime show was absolute garbage.

Dive for it.

So who else can't wait till the draft?  I have long since grown tired of the Combine, Pro Days, etc. that precede it, but the draft itself is one of my favorite events in all of sports.  You get a sense of  how much the NFL dominates the sports landscape when you consider that the draft routinely out-rates (a real word?) actual contests from MLB and the NBA.

The draft is what it is. I am with you about Mel and McShay! The draft I believe is less important than in the past because of the new CBA. Before if you drafted a Ryan Leaf or J. Russell the team would be screwed for years. Now because you don't give the 1st round guys huge ass contracts you can afford to take chances and pick up players that might put asses in the seats (Johnny Manziel) but not actually deserve to get taken when they are.

Cam's character really came out on that play.  Down by 6 and nearing the end of the game, after a long frustrating day, he quit on his team.

After a couple of days, his agent found an excuse for him - his leg was not in the right position to try to get on the fumble.  After running towards the ball, then pulling away at the last moment.

Loser.  I wonder if that explanation will satisfy his teammates, although the way they act they don't seem much different.

For years now the 'dancers' have been telling us their antics are a 'celebration' and not plain old fashioned poor sportsmanship.  That they're just having fun, and aren't trying to rub their opponents noses in it.  It's a 'cultural thing', and those who don't like it just don't get it

Yet here we have a quote from Cam that tells a different story (''dab on them folks''):

I don't think he really wants to play football anywhere. Like most Texans, when taken out of the state and faced with any sort of adversity they fold under pressure. Most Texans are useless outside of the state of Texas.
