Perfect sense! What was the sound in the background?

What would terrify me about a huge earthquake in San Francisco is the criminal element that would riot, loot stores and private homes, etc.  San Francisco is an extremely closely packed city. If a fire starts in 1 house, it would spread like crazy since so many homes share common walls (like townhouses). I think San Francisco would be a very unsafe place to be. There is a large underclass that is pretty much kept invisible for tourism. Neighborhoods like The Mission or the Divisidaro corridor could explode.  If I had a family, I would never live there.

is there a true snopes on a D-Wave hoax? maybe there should be.

I believe in equal rights for all people, including gay people. I believe in the separation of church and state. I believe that (like all other industrialized countries) the USA should provide a safety net for its elderly, disabled and desperately poor (instead of trying to give huge tax cuts to billionaires at the expense of everyone else - the Republican strategy in Congress). I believe in Science, not religion. I want the USA to advance into the future with the rest of the planet, not regress back to the 19th century.  If this makes me a liberal, than I guess I am one.

I'm pretty sure the OP [the one who elicited this reply] was kidding, but given that this keeps getting ditto's, let us not forget that real Liberals also understand the concept of Duties, not only Rights.

you're right about Californians being unaware of the possibilities. My neighbors and I have never spoken about earthquakes, yet I was asked many times at disneyland recently by out of state visitors. They seemed to be more worried than we are.

This is a killer show tonight. I hope Dvorak is a recurring guest.

I came here to post the same thing.  Is Dvorak new as far as guesting with Art?  I've never heard of him.  I got mad blue balls when he was talking about finding patterns in the radiation at the edge of the universe

You were magnificent! I hope the sounds at the end weren't the beginning of an alien abduction.

Wednesday

I live on a very busy street and had the window wide open. My earbuds have a very strong mic, I guess, and picked up the truck going by... I didn't want to take up too much time. I could have gone on for a while. He had me on for about 10 minutes on Skype. I pushed "call" when he gave out the numbers to call. When I connected, I felt so much pressure to come up with something important to say! Oh, that was amazing!

Triffids.  They've made it to Hawaii.

Jeez, one would think they would have the decency of at least wearing rubber boots.

Yes, liberals understand the responsibilities of being part of a community and a larger society. Recently, conservatives seem to want to divorce themselves from any membership in the larger community with the mottoe "I've got mine, so screw you, baby". Perhaps this is what I call the Libertarian platform.

Or the Ayn Rand platform.
