Bill is Jewish; according to his mom when she met me: I am Jewish by injection. She was a firecracker.

I've been trying to get the podcast up by 6 am at https://soundcloud.com/psnradio/sets/bella-haven and later tonight, www.bella-haven.com

Also, I must mention you every night or it doesn't feel right. As per Jerry Seinfeld, I don't want to break the chain.

Ooh Templars!  I love that stuff.  Plus, I believe some speculation as to just *which* radio show Art will be interviewed on this Friday would be in order.  Ground Zero?  The Savage Nation?

It's definitely Ground Zero. I think. Maybe. Already on BellGab?

I saw speculation there earlier; no confirmation.  But that would make sense since Clyde and Art will now both be on KXL's talent roster.

I've got to do better prep! I love the Templars, mysterious men of the past. Right now I'm getting this close ☞ ][ to getting the web site up, and now that I can play tunes, I'm going to go like the wind.

I think I'll start them now and try to learn how to get myself into the brand new chat properly. Oh, where are PrarieGhost and wr250 when you need them?

So: tune now until 3, chat with tunes included is https://soundcloud.com/psnradio/sets/bella-haven

Get there now and watch me try to learn how to communicate with a bot while trying to finish the new design.

Take a breath, Nance. Don't sweat the topics at all. Just do what you do and go with the flow as far as the topics you want to talk about just like you always do. That's the charm of the show and you do it superbly. I just added a few fun, optional, non Art topic ideas on today's promo since there's kind of a lull in the action, if you can call it a lull, lol.

Hey Faustina, my dad was a Mason, but all I really know about them is what I've researched and that's I think mostly hearsay type stuff. He didn't talk about it much at all and never tried to get me to join. We did go to the Shriners dinners who's proceeds went to help sick kids. And he went to the meetings about once a month and always came back in a good mood, so I'm guessing he had a good time there. And there was the funny little hat with the tassel on it, lol.

The only other thing I remember about it was about once a month a couple of his mason friends would come over and they'd lock themselves in the den for a couple of hours. Found out later they were doing calligraphy things for the sick kids and their parents. And they were drinking bourbon.  ;D

I actually know one of the top masons in the province... He lead a very regular life and worked a blue collar job (upper blue collar, but blue collar just the same.)  He lives in a mid-priced house in a quiet neighbourhood.  He is nice, and I know him and the other members spend quite a bit of time doing charity stuff.

I used to believe that there could be a conspiracy, some secret "take over the world" agenda.  Sadly, once I found out he was way up there in the lodge, I just cannot accept it as even a mild possibility.  I would not even be able to listen to Art interview somebody on the topic as it does not hold any interest for me anymore... I am positive that it is a group of older, mostly retired men who want to escape their families for a few hours, get together, enjoy life and give something to charity.

I'll be tuning in while traveling on behalf of the regional paper, like most mornings. It makes my route faster with great company to ride along!

It would be awesome to hear Clyde interview Art. Both of my favorites on the same show would have me missing a snooze again, like when MV was on Future Theater. :-)

Yep, that's my take on it too, wotr. My experience is there's no nefarious, World domination objective type things going on, but I think they do definitely revel in the secrecy and conspiracy rumors and such. I'm pretty sure my dad did, anyway. I get the distinct impression it's pretty much mostly and older guy fraternity, and that's good. It helps keep them out of trouble.

Haven't seen it for a few years. I'm definitely putting it on my To Watch Again List. It is certainly a classic from the standpoint of how to create cinematic atmosphere no doubt.

Nancy was talking about sitting on lectures about fin de siecle Vienna the other day and couldn't remember the name of the lecturer. Was it Ernst Gombrich?

No, it was Carl Schorske, and it was a course I took for credit. It was one of the most popular audited classes that year and the visiters were lined up two deep to see his amazing personal slides and listen to the connections he was illuminating.

Thanks for asking! You are especially astute re: Soundcloud and my editing scissors. So far, I haven't snipped anything except for Saucy's true identity, which will remain clouded in unknowing.

Thank you for that. It's not a name I am familiar with so I shall see if I can pick up a copy of that book. I see the old boy is still alive too. It's interesting how - if you are lucky enough to find one - a good teacher can change your life. I'd put Leonard Bernstein's lectures on music in that category as well. They illustrate the old saying about education being 'a drawing out, not a putting in'. They plant seeds that grow throughout your life.

Absolutely! Where did you get a chance to hear Bernstein? My most influential is William Goyen, most known for "House of Breath," a classic rural Texas novel written by a runaway gay son. He was married most of his life to Doris Roberts from Everybody Loves Raymond.

He held my hopes and was a perfectly trustworthy, thoughtful man.

Sadly only via the internet, with those amazing lectures he would give aimed at young people, introducing them to a subject they may not have had much knowledge/interest in, but doing it in a way that was full of content yet also made it accessible. For instance, he did a programme about how Beethoven struggled to get the first movement of his fifth symphony 'right' and took us through all his discarded thoughts. Simply brilliant and done in a way that didn't talk down to the audience. Later on he did the Harvard Norton Lectures, and took Chomsky's work on a universal language and developed that to talk about a universal musical language. He was an amazing man.

I mentioned Gombrich before as a wild guess because he was another formative influence on many people with his book The Story of Art. Also Kenneth Clark with the TV series Civilisation. One more, for me, would be the writer Anthony Burgess, who was interested in so many things, but conveyed in such an entertaining way that you come away having absorbed so much without being aware of it. I'm sure scholars could pick holes in their ideas and approach, but they start so many ideas going in your head that stay with you forever. And that is surely what education should be about, after all.

We do seem to come up with topics, even ones that Keith might find interesting. I've started taking notes on next broadcast, and so far I want to talk about what they're talking about in another thread: the Princeton EGG experiments. Taking notes for stuff to look up.

And I really want to find that Canadian who invented synchromysticism. He used to have a blog called The Sync Whole or perhaps contributed to it? He is known for making mash-ups of occult themes in modern movies, and he speaks with a lilting Australian accent. Anyone know of such a guy?

Oh! Here is Bella-Haven 12, with a Saucy appearance and an miserable attempt at remote-tarot.
