Ha. Not in the European version  ;) (not sure which way the knock-offs went, it seems tv show ideas are traded between the Continents) and I certainly am not in the male animal "milk" version challenge that, thankfully, never got aired but made the tabloid press and morning radio shock-jock show discussions.

I agree. I think that was Australia. (Maybe Jaz can confirm. Or deny, lol.)

Yeah, I'd take being in the coffin full of spiders and scorpions over that any day.

Does it involve tying me to a bed?

I think you are correct. Though in my two test I answered also "Dukes" to that question and still got Stanton. I couldn't, somehow, lie, and admit that I don't like that show. I still won't, dammit. A good show! (Excepting some labor dispute that resulted in a plot-line with mysterious "other cousins" coming in to star for a bit. Though, it was handled with aplomb and most shows couldn't have pulled it off, even if was highly suspect to viewers of any age.)

Make ten postings on the GNS thread and come back here tomorrow.

I absolutely adore lima beans to a fault. Nothing will block you up like eating an entire can of limas will.  And I'm a Stanton Friedman, which is good, he's one of my favorite guests.

I was 3 when the show debuted, therefore smack dab right in the middle of their target demo. I had the General Lee Hot Wheels to go along with the Kojak and Starsky and Hutch cars. And CHiPS motorcycle. There was no malaise for me in 1979.

After eating an inadvisable late breakfast at a random taco truck I spied while waiting in traffic this morning (oh why do I always fall for Mexican delicacies as chorizo and barbacoa made at these fly-by-night roadside establishments) I will vouch for any possible cure, even canned lima beans.

Yes, I concur with Albrecht. There are times when a good blocking is necessary.

I might be wrong, and older than you not that that matters, but if you rewatch the show the first season, as I recall (not as good as you probably) was not a child's show I think. Not "bad" but trying to go elsewhere.. Lots of innuendo- sexual and otherwise, corruption of good ole boy system, the gun charges (hence Bo n Luke could only use bows and arrows- sometimes with dynamite!, some close "kissin cousin" stuff with Daisy, more drinking, etc. Even some more politically incorrect stuff with regard to the Old South.) It still kept the drinking and outlawery -but in a fun way- and, obviously awesome, hot chicks, but became a lot more totally fun high-jinx and less more serious. I don't mean serious but different market. I still loved it though.

When I was a tiny kid, I loved The Benny Hill Show, talk about sexual innuendos!

Benny Hill was GREAT!!!!! Always enjoyed the double speed sequences.

I was wondering where you got your rapidly patting an old, balding skinny man on the head from? I have to admit even I, almost succumb, when in line with some old bald guy. I won't mention other tendencies I got from that show due to restraining orders. What, chasing candy-striper nurses through the park is verboten  :o what DO those old ladies who stopped me carry in their purses, whatever it was it hurt!  :P

I've actually watched the 1979-81 episodes recently(the last decade is "recently") and it was very tongue in cheek, and touched on the themes you mention(couple of years ago, my uncle says "did you know Boss Hogg is a Jew in real life?" I laughed and broke the news to him about the Three Stooges). The car becoming the star definitely lead to a more youth-oriented phase. That seemed to occur in season 3 especially. Wildly popular with a spinoff in "Enos" and ripoffs like "Lobo". And of course, Catherine Bach is right there with Lynda Carter and Erin Gray for making Old Coyle still watch shows Young Coyle liked back then.
