I'm really looking forward to Thursday nights show John jaffis on haunted objects. Try not to suck to hard george. Avoid interrupting your guest when he's telling a interesting story, while at the same time keeping the show on track.

Also in my opinion, while I am sure they are nice people the main guest for Monday and Tuesday night do not provide interesting topics. Unless perhaps they can enlighten you, to your own suckage.

Sure, but Art laughed at himself. He didn't turn it into the plot of a soap opera, take 3 days off, bang on about it for weeks afterwards or threaten to sue the makers of Super Glue or start a public safety campaign. Art knew he'd done a dumb thing, laughed, and got on with his job like a proper professional.

Not 100% certain, but I doubt he had to have his producer take him to the hospital either.

go to Art's site open it in separate window, minimize window to just show calendar.

Thanks onan, I hadn't even been to the site recently and didn't realize he already had the clock idea.

All I remember is part of his lip was in the ash tray. That said, Art had his moments where he was a royal pain in the a$$ to the regular listener too. I don't want to get into the "so-called" retirements that didn't seem to be so-called at the time, but the fact is Art had his drama.

That said, Art is one of the most gifted radio broadcasters of the latter half of the 20th century. He has an interview style that was unequalled on radio. I mean the Charlie Rose of the airwaves. He also was able to cultivate an atmosphere in the show that was unbelievably awesome. That's a hard act to follow.

So let's take Noory on his own. Remove Art Bell from the equation and compare George to the rest of radio. Talk funny? Um, if you think George has an impediment, try tuning into Diane Rehm. If you think George is a terrible interviewer, listen to Michael Savage interview someone. If you think George is outlandish, give Rense or Alex Jones a listen. If you think George says dumb things, you haven't heard Imus on a good day, much less a bad one. George Noory really isn't that bad.

You guys were handed a golden opportunity. You got Art back. I'm so ready for that, I've already said screw it and signed up for SiriusXM. But we also could have been open, honest, adult and mature when George showed up asking us what he was doing wrong. The very worst that could have happened would have been no change in the show at all. Oh well, tune out. At best, George might have listened and tailored the show to something that you would like, and then you would have 7 hours of good programming to your taste spread over two hosts, and more exposure to the guests you like.

I just don't see what the hell would be wrong with that. I mean, why blow an opportunity to be directly heard? It didn't make any sense.

Though, I will admit, neither Art nor George could possibly smell as lovely as Hoagland. If scent came over the airwaves, that wonderful mix of Brut, Old Spice and Tex-Mex food could make any man question his preferences. His chiseled hair, flowing like the Martian wind over a mesa mistaken for a face, could induce anyone into a euphoria. Who could blame Cronkite for hiring him? Not I. Who could blame NASA for being jealous? Not I, again. Only the claim of spotting Mr. Data's head on the moon could deflate my man-crush for Hoagland, and it certainly did.

We've gone through the looking glass.  Fort Rock was right (Art's coming back), George Noory himself posts here (but Art won't), Anagrammy's still gone, and Alejandro's balls are still MIA.

So and so is as bad as George at this, such and such is as bad as George at that, someone else is as bad as George on something else... but no one combines all those traits in one host the way George does.

As far as engaging George - people did.  I did.  I don't remember him asking what he was doing wrong, or even admitting he was doing anything wrong.  When did he do that?

I do remember him saying he is who he is, that the show is hugely successful, that he is responsible for that (!), and they've grown the number of stations, and the ratings are at an all time high.  He never said a thing about suggestions about how to improve, and ignored our questions and comments relating to anything along those lines.

This is good stuff SciFi.  Well put.  BTW, I love Imus as it is so excellently stupid.  I laugh every morning listening to these misfits.  It's like an awesome trainwreck.  IMO the Imus crew spouts stuff at least once a month that are more hurtful and whacked than any of the Rutgers scandal stuff that Jackson and Sharpton fanned the flames for to cool their own behinds.  This is why I love the show.

I listen, occasionally, for the same reason. It's a train wreck, and it's certainly more dicey than most shows. Actually, let's expand it. ANY radio is better than TV. I quit watching TV other than Netflix movies years ago. Who needs it? If I want to see a TV series, I'll just wait until it's over and watch it at my leisure. Radio is so much more freaking awesome.

Adding to what Paper*Boy wrote above, Dave had the audacity to say that if he were as bad as we say he is, he would not have lasted that long on C2C. He didn't come here looking for opinions on how to improve. He thinks he is fine the way he is.
Dave has no shame.

The only reason he came here is to create discord among BellGab's members, just like he did at the Fantastic Forum (the biggest Art Bell fans forum at the time) a few years back. He succeeded there. The forum fractured and pretty much died.

He's trying to do the same here. Why now? Because, now that Art is coming back, Dave and his crew don't want a big and popular Art Bell forum to support Art. Dave's goal is to destroy this Art Bell fans community. He's done it before and thinks he can do it again.

Don't fall for it.

What, Georgy wrote stuff?  Man I've gotta go read that.  From what's quoted here it looks like some Damn fine reading.

Noory has been blowing for 10+ years.
The man let's medical quacks on his show that hurt people.
I understand and realize george thinks this is in because he doesn't personally endorse them

But dam it there is a HUGE and non understatable difference between interviewing guys claiming to have met little green men and people giving dangerous medical advice. Simple george doesn't understand this.

That's all pretty bland and non-specific.  Everything he said in your quotes could apply to everyone in the world - 'I can grow, I've made mistakes?', 'I've reached out to you, I care',  'everyone can improve', 'I can grow and learn', 'I appreciate constructive criticism'.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great George came here and said those things.  It's a start, and he didn't have to do even that.  But what he did not do is address the specific questions, comments and complaints that were posed to him..

The fact is he doesn't come to the show as prepared as he should - not even close, it sure seems like he isn't listening to what the guest and callers are saying much of the time, he isn't asking the obvious follow up questions and making it a true conversation - he sounds like he's just waiting for the guest to take a breath so he can read his next question, he has far too many people on making dubious health claims that have less than stellar backgrounds.

We asked him about all this and more, and got no response.  We did what you are saying we should have done.    Maybe now that he's tested the waters here, if he truly wants to improve he can come back and discuss some of this.

Are you from PremRat?

Well, actually, he can back that up with fact: he's obviously still there. The show still has a huge amount of affiliates. The show has great ratings. Obviously he's bringing in the cash, and if he wasn't he wouldn't be there. That show, and Art's new show, exist for one reason: to post a profit as far as the corporations that host them are concerned. They do not exist to please you personally. They exist to bring in money for Premiere and SiriusXM. If George wasn't cutting the mustard and showing a profit, he'd have been gone long ago like Mike Seigal was. That's not audacity, that's a reality of business.

As far as the Fantastic Forum, look, the operator of the thing died and it had to reinvent itself when the host it was dedicated to wasn't on the air. Nothing will survive that.  A forum lives and dies based on it's content. If the person for whom the content is relevant shows up and posts there, then it's pure freaking gold for that forum. It is not a bad thing. Ever. There is no such thing as bad publicity. Division is a good thing, by and large, forums do better if their content is divisive. Just like novels, they live and die based on conflict, conflict, conflict. The whole point of a "George Noory Sucks" thread is to be divisive. That's the MO, to take one team or the other by the very nature of the concept. If anything, George legitimized and promoted Art and this forum and if 1/200th of George's listenership knew this was going on, this forum would grow exponentially over a matter of days. It pays to remember that.
