i personally hate taking pain meds.  i had a scrip for percocet when i broke my arm and never filled it because the pain killers mess my head up so bad.

Same here, unless it's severe pain (got stabbed and mugged once, top 5 pain experience) give me a shot morphine, otherwise, I totally can't do Vicoden, Percs or any of those. They either leave me incredibly wonky in the head, or upset my stomach to the point of no return.

I suspect he's telling true - simply because he has said he does not like being intoxicated at all.  No drinking either - not a judgement, just a choice.  He did install a small wine cellar for his wife, so it's not like he thinks it's bad.

::::shrug::: but who knows, really?

I believe him too.  I've got a good friend who has never drank alcohol or done any drugs.  He's not against them, he's more than willing to be a designated driver.  He just doesn't have enough interest in them to even experiment with them, and having been around high/intoxicated people has made it all extremely unattractive to him.

On the other side, when I had to take a psych exam a few years ago for law enforcement, the lady who handed me the test told me that even if I'd never smoked pot, mark the selection saying I had and it was over 5 years ago.  She said everytime they see someone putting they never smoked pot once in their life, they automatically assume they're lying.

She should be fired.  As much as the Pot Culture hates to admit it, they are still the minority, for now.

I don't know about recreationally, but he did admit to pain meds when he had his hair transplant procedure.

But I will say, that while I believe Ian to be truthful almost all the time, I don't believe him for a second when he blames the attached mp3 rant on his mind being confused after "just waking up." I think he might have had a nip or two before the wife came home from a social function. Listen and I think you'll agree.

Yes, this is the one that made me think he was on prescription painkillers. This was definitely not just tiredness talking -- but who knows, maybe it was from alcohol.

Ian had a hair transplant procedure?  Hurrmmmmmm ......

Ian said he has "gotten the nod" to host the prediction show.  Interesting.  He also said he was part of a "social justice" protest outside of the last Republican National Convention.  Also interesting.

Ian should do a good job with the prediction show.  He's probably my favorite host.

Ian Punnett - you have REALLY disappointed here -

Heck, it wasn't that bad.  Last year I thought the horse guy was "alright", and last night was no better or worse.  But I really dug the Canadian guy who called in during the first hour and claimed that the C.C.I.A. (the crazy central intelligence agency) had unleashed an army of vampire bears to do us humans harm.  The kid was serious in a very arkward, nervous, shaky sort of way.  I'm thinking it was just a "talk show schtick" character he's developing, like JC.  It was cool.

Vampire Bear was an awesome story.

I just listened to that hour this morning.  Ian's reaction to him had me laughing pretty hard.

Saturday 25 Dec 2010~Trcia McCannon~Bill Sweet

Where was Jesus for the first 30 years of his life and what was he taught? These are among the questions we'll explore when clairvoyant and historian Tricia McCannon joins us Christmas night with Ian Punnett. First hour guest, Bill Sweet, will discuss the power of prayer.

Tricia McCannon on the missing years of Jesus.  Turns out he was quite a globetrotter, going to places like Egypt, India, China, and England.  Ian begged to differ on some of her facts, but not enough to tailspin the interview.

Ian Punnet will be doing the Prediction show tonight and tomorrow night, I won't be listening, if it's not Art it isn't worth my time.

Saturday 01 Jan 11~Ian Punnett w/Peter Bishop~Andy Hines

Professors Peter Bishop and Andy Hines from the graduate program in Futures Studies at the University of Houston join Ian Punnett for a discussion on the techniques for long term forecasting and planning, and what futurists are seeing down the road for the U.S. and the world.

Hal, thanks for posting that clip of Ian. Do you have the next nights show where he discusses the incident on air? I can find the "drunk" clip easily but the follow up has been more difficult, and I haven't seen it around anywhere.

Decided to tune into the show live just now to see if he said anything about Art.

Here is a loose quote "Art usually does this show, but I'll be picking up the fallen mantel"

And to my surprise he actually has the predictions list from last year.

Punnet doesn't like to do paranormal C2C shows. . You know, a lot of Ians favorable reputation stems from the impression that he is just "such a nice guy". But the truth is that he isn't such a nice guy. He gets shrill and testy very quickly. And he is just not going to do shows on the paranormal topics.

Yeh I noticed that too. Ian hates paranormal topics. Makes me wonder why he joined C2C if he wasn't fascinated with the show format.

HAL 9000

WTF?

I've been awake with no sleep for the past 40 hours, so my hearing/judgment may have been impaired, but did anyone else catch what Ian said right at the very end of the show? It sounded like he was preparing us for the possibility he may not be hosting c2c any longer.

Listen to the way he signs off via the attached mp3 and see if you agree...

I believe he says, "Happy New Year, if we don't talk again... Deus te amat, and I do too."

There seemed to be a little quiver in his voice, and he mentioned his fellows hosts in what I thought to be an odd way. I'm not trying to start a conspiracy, but his last few words and the way he phrased them made me take notice - especially with the Art news and other hosts maybe doing a "test run" the last few nights.

They would be stupid enough to get rid of Ian.  I agree that he doesn't seem too much into doing paranormal stuff.  Sometimes he will get into a little cryptozoology or afterlife things.  He seems like a odd fit into the CTC machine but in my opinion he's the best host they have with 2nd place lagging miles behind.  He's the only host I regularly listen to.  In fact I make sure to download and at least try out every one of his shows.  Most don't disappoint me.  I think Ian is naturally a good interviewer but what really sets him apart from Noory and even Art is that he often is well prepared for the interviews.  He actually reads the guests books ahead of time and has intelligent questions ready to go.  That's not a knock against Art, no one can do his on the fly method so well, but I never recall Art knowing the guests as well as Ian does.

Part of that, i'm sure, has to do with the fact he's usually assigned one or maybe two shows per week so he's able to prepare specificly for that guest.  I'm no fan of Noory but I give him a break in this since you can't really prepare for a show like Ian does 5 nights a week and Noory just lacks the skills of Art to improvise.

Long live Ian on the weekends I say.

Long live Ian...

I think he was referring to the "happy new year" wish, if we don't talk again.  I found the "fallen mantel"  part interesting.  It was not passed on, but had fallen.  I missed the slight gravitas that Art had given the prediction show, and his attention to the numbering of the predictions.  Even when Ian was recalling last year's list he ignored their sequence.  The bell and buzzer got on my nerves at first, but then not so much.  I suppose I'm being picky.  And after listening to those other guys this week, I think he should also deepen his voice a few octaves.  More than a few.  Maybe not.  The numbers thing, though.  Important.

The recent fill in hosts may have been auditioning.  I believe your interpretation of what he said is correct.

b_dubb

ok.  apparently i've had my head in the sand.  what is the "Art News"?  is he coming back?  leaving forever?

on another note .... the prediction show(s) are interesting if only because you get a peak into how people think.  and
what they accept as fact.  surprising stuff.

I heard it, but wouldn't read too much into it. He made it pretty clear he'd be back for tonight and Saturday thru the entire show. Maybe he was addressing the portion of the audience that doesn't listen on weekends seeing as he rarely covers for George Mon-Thu? Possibly his spiritual side requires him to acknowledge that there is always a possibility someone will pass on before then?

I laughed when the wise guy called in to say October 31, 2011 would see one of the largest cases of identity theft as millions dressed up and impersonated other people. So Ian launches into his patented Punnet rants about other governments compromising our personal information and how we could see something on a large scale.......totally not getting the joke.

How about the guy who said Stephen King shot John Lennon and Nixon and Reagan were in on it!  :o

ringthane

The guy that called who would reveal the secret of ending dog attacks if he was allowed to rewrite the constitution was pure awesome. So was the Lennon/Nixon/Reagan guy the night before.

I don't think Ian was even writing them down, let alone numbering them.  Fine.  Do it your way, Ian.  Nice rant about how so many people are wasting so much time trying to figure out the 666 thing, when (according to Ian) it already happened, and putting so much mental effort on it isn't what Jesus would have us do.  Speaking of, somebody else called in about Jesus returning on May 21st 2011.  Evidently this got started by some preacher named Harold Camping who has a radio show somewhere.  We shall see.
