I think Sirius promised Art the moon, then sent him a dirty rock in a reused Amazon box sealed with duct tape.

lol giving Art the ability to broadcast to the entire United States and Canada for pretty much 8 hours a night if he so chooses, with no content restrictions (that we know of), and having an online feed that has some issues (minor issues in my opinion speaking as a subscriber to Sirius for about 7 yrs), is hardly a "dirty rock"

I thought he said that paying $180 a year for an online sub that crashed was a tall order to ask of the listeners - the free stream was a proposed solution until sxm could get their online application up to par.

Well - originally it seemed to have been about how he feels he can't get enough callers with the feed crashing.

This is "circular logic".  It is like if someone says the sky is blue and another person keeps asking them over and over again how and why they came to that conclusion.  There is no resolution and really no objective to the questioning.

you're playing word games - I'm not doing anything circular

Art never explained why he thinks going "stream online only" is better than what he had - crashed feed and all.

What's the objective of your questioning?  He can't go back.

1)  To try and get him to provide some logic behind his decision to leave because he still has not done so in all of his posts and/or emails.

2)  To see why he's trying to sell the "i will stream online" thing like it's supposed to be better than what he had [edit: especially that it will actually limit his audience if he depends on caller].

Actually the reason I left was that I was told by Sirius that the problem with streaming
could not be fixed until August at best. The reason was so I COULD reach my listeners
with streaming until the problem was fixed. When the final answer was no, that is
when I left, even then I tried very hard to work something out.

Anyway it is what it is now. I will do my best to stream at the first opportunity. BTW
I posted that letter so you could understand the options being talked about. I am
sorry it did not work out but it was not from a lack of trying.

I know you all are right about Trolls, that guy finally got under my skin. I am done.

                                                                                              Art

oh cmon Art; really?

You could not tolerate working there because the stream would crap out sometimes? You're saying that the show would be literally impossible to do because the app would crash?

How will streaming online reach more people, btw?  Serious question, Art.  Most people do not have unlimited cell data; there go anyone who wants to listen while driving.

Yeah but whatever. Art does not owe anybody anything. If I want to quit a job, it's going to be because I do the work better than I'm allowed to. Also, I'm selfish. It is about ME. I'll quit if I don't like the way someone looks smells or thinks. So what?  Quitter, who cares? That's what little kids call each other. I work for myself and I hate my boss and I quit all the time!  Email George and complain THAT HE DOESN'T FUCKING QUIT PLEASE?

if he quite the show by saying: "F Sirius - they stink and I don't like them" ....fine, he quit

he's going:  "F Sirius - wait, take me back for free - F Sirius again because they didn't take me back for free!"

because we like the show and he had a great opportunity to build an audience - but then he went and took a giant dump all over it and is now trying to make it sound like he's the victim

Ha! Whether Art admits it or not, he messed up with his exit from Dark Matter and now we're the ones paying for it. It was a very low class, childish email to Sirius/XM demanding that C2C be removed before he would return (apparently breaking contracts is an every day thing in the Bell household) and if Art had adequate legal counsel, he would never have clicked send. I'm gutted about how this all turned out but I think it's unfair to call people who have lashed out against you "trolls" just because they are calling you out on your mistakes that you refuse to acknowledge. We'll see you 01 September 2015, Art - try to let go of your anger and hubris until then. The combination of the two ruined a really great thing.

adequate?
How about just any legal counsel - besides the bad syntax, borderline grammar, and a lack of any professional format - the contents really leaves one confused to the purpose of such a correspondence or what he attempted to accomplish with it.

What possible way do you think there is to get around the NC? What options are you exploring, if any?

I think he has a better chance of stumbling into wormhole taking him to a parallel universe where he didn't walk out on his show than finding a way to get out of the NC.

I love art bell. One of the best broadcasters to ever grace the airwaves. But, that being said, "I am considering my legal options" should have been said before the contract was severed.

That's what I really don't understand (if it's true).
Art said he discussed the situation with the producer and Bob Crane.   I will never comprehend why those were the only 2 people he talked in regards to walking off that Monday - especially the Bob Crane part.

If he got his show back, he would of been happy but it just seems hes just as happy to sit on his ass and do nothing. His posts just seem so nonchalant about it all. like "oh well, signed another no compete, shit happens"
lol

lol it kind of does sound like it "eh, I signed a contract but didn't like it after 6 week - screw it I'll just wait 2 years and try again"

My letter to Sirius:

Dear SiriusXM:

I am just letting you know that the $75 cancellation fee is illegal in my
opinion, and I will contact the 32 state lawsuit against you in that regard
in order to join up.

Though only a "customer" for two more days, I would like to protest the
return of Coast to Coast to your lineup.  That show is the absolute pits.
The host, George Noory, is boring, a very poor interviewer, and has no,
absolutely no, personal integrity.

Sincerely,

Dean XXXXX

Art,

I can understand why Sirius took Premiere's offer instead of yours. If Sirius capitulated to your demands, who knows if in another 7 weeks you would have demanded something else. Sirius knows that at least with C2C the host won't try and humiliate the company and try to renegotiate their deal in public.

I think after some time has pass you will realize you made the wrong discussion. I loved your show and wish you didn't quit on the listeners who were with you when you started on Sirius. Maybe in a couple of years you will be back on somewhere in time...

egg-zack-ly

First of all my sincere congrats to Premiere Radio, they made the right move. Business is War
and I would have done the same exact thing, and did in my day.

Second, given the same circumstances I would make the same decision again today about Dark
Matter. There is much you do not know and I will not talk about because it was given in confidence
and I am kind of old school so I will not talk about those things even though it would help you to
understand my decision.

Third, I would love it if Sirius/XM would waive my NC but they said no and even though I could run
out and get a Lawyer and perhaps win back my freedom I will most likely not do that. If I were ten
Years younger it might be a different story, I will say this, It seems crazy as hell to me that we offered
exactly what Premiere ended up taking. Now Sirius/XM has a show that will be mostly commercials and
seems much less a good fit than Dark Matter with a Host who thinks a Typhoon in Vietnam causes rain
in Hawaii. (Last night's show, first hour)

Fourth and finally I would like to say sorry to the people who did come over either by Radio or the less
than stellar streaming, trust me I understand your anger, I only wish you had enough information to
understand my decision.

                                                                                                          Art Bell
A war?  You quit and Sirius took an offer to have a similar show at the same time slot; real 'battle' there.  Oh right, the elves behind the scenes made you break your contract because Sirius didn't want to give away free product.
If you didn't have a temper tantrum on Monday, and like a professional said "hey Sirius, I'd like to be an indep broadcaster so you don't have to pay me and I could stream for free" on Tuesday, everything would be just dandy.

I am not crazy about the way some things have been handled, they canned Paul without so much as a Human voice
doing the job and he had been trying to get a handle on the streaming mess every day. Now they take the tactic of simply
not responding in any way to ALL forms of communication the modern World has.

At least I spoke to them like people in a normal business relationship. I am telling you there is something else in the works.

                                                                                                                                      Art

Say what???  You walked out on your contract after they said "no" to your ridiculous demand.  Now you're trying to spin it like "oh I wanted to be an independent broadcaster all along please take me back for free blah blah blah" - why didn't you just do that from the start then??

Stop w/ the 'there's stuff behind the scenes' BS.  No one is trying to sabotage the great Art Bell - you've done that beautifully on your own.  You've been on the air for 4 days a week for 6 weeks and after your half-assed  pseudo-negotiating tactics they told you to go screw after your complete lack of professionalism.  This is all your fault, dude.  You are lucky they let you off the hook w/ the 30 days clause.  Say thank you and walk away.

You screwed it up; accept it and go stream to your website if they let you.  No people calling and driving on cell phones then!...or people even listening and driving!...or people listening and walking! - hard to find an unlimited internet cellphone plan these days.
