Theories on why the show is a replay tonight:

1. It's already turned into a colossal clusterfuck behind the scenes and they couldn't get a guest together.
2. Trying to let the dust settle a little.
3. Art is pulling the plug.

i am gonna go with2..but maybe

guest is someone Ross scheduled and either backed out or RCH nixed now thast that bastard (not really) Ross is gonr and done ruining his show and new "executive" producer couldnt get a replacement

4. A slightly less grainy image of a gear-like Martian rock is being researched.
5. The new producer is busy digging up his highschool yearbook to reminisce about later.
6. Hoagie's madly trying to dismantle his desk phone.

I'm going with/hoping for theory three.  I don't want Art to pull the plug on OSOM, just Hoagland.
I never was sure on what the business model or organization is. Is Art in charge of the whole DMDN or Keith or some legal entity or investors? And who "calls the shots," besides Bellgabbers via influence (kidding) or disgruntled- legit or otherwise- producers, hosts, staff, etc? And the deal with providers and disruptions (any insurance on these items or backups?) It seems a bizarre 'model', to coin a phrase. But I hope MITD succeeds. Because Art is in fine form and I've always liked him. And I hope enough money to bring stability to his (I guess) operation and get a solid, long-term thing going. At least for MITD but I like some of the other programs also but key is his (I hope.)

I couldn't believe it last night when RH said he had refused and turned down those interested in paying for comercial time on his show. It didn't sound genuine to me. Who on earth would turn down that if they had the room for it?

popple

Maybe Hoagie checked into rehab for his out of control ego? Bein drunk on power does sumptin to the brain.

he'd rather have his crappy music playing..or thinks it would take time away from his show..unlike his 20 minute soliloquies

I'm almost certain Art is the boss but Keith is in charge of the day-to-day operation.  My assumption is that Art is effectively acting as a CEO while Keith is a President/COO type.

Celebrities usually cite "exhaustion", don't they? All those phone calls last night probably took a lot out of him.

Yeah, I'm calling bullshit on that one.  I doubt that's even in Richard's power to decide.  That sounds like an Art/Keith issue.

Damn speaking of which, I was hoping to hear the Art Bell gave Hoagie a Home song one last time!  Not sure if I dreamed it or what, but it was glorious.

Funny how they are trying to " olive branch" us.

We've got a classic show from the vault. So many of you enjoyed it when Peter Lavanda visited with us, so we wanted to treat our old fans & all the new listeners to an amazing show

Yeah Art has mentioned it several times about the commercials issue. For different reasons, though I think even the nutjob Leo was now claiming it in his sad missive for his new show about the new idea and "pro" of less commercials (would allow locals to insert their news or commercials.)

I just hope Art et all get some rational people and solid businessman or at least model/plan (and/or a lawyer...wasnt Dr.J a lawyer? The initial producer who left?) to set up a model and agreements/contracts that will work so at least MITD sticks around and expands to all media: new and old. And then for the network and stop the madness.

Maybe Hoagie is out at OSOM?  We should be so lucky.  My dream is for Ian Punnett to take over.

Your dream is my nightmare....Punnett? ...NO.... :'(

The times I have listened he has had some good guests and asks really intelligent questions. His voice grates on me, but he seems to be better than average.

Never heard him except a few times but except that I thought he was on MITD as producer and he was an attorney (at least by training and some practice at some point. But then I heard he left for his own show, which he might have already been doing.) Not too familiar with other DMRN shows except Batemans and Hughes which are awesome and only got into OSOM due to MITD and Rossy and thread.

Who is this "WE"? Hoagie and his worms? He can spend the other side of midnight scooting his butt across the carpet.

I always enjoyed Ian. I think my favorite shows were the ones on DB Cooper.

I told you he likes to watch.
All kidding aside just got done listening to last nights Hoagie show, so sad i couldn't make it i was dead tired, the phone ringing had me in stitches.

You missed the significance of MMMM and why it horrifies most of us now.

The dumb bastard thought it was the cia calling

I'm going with a colossal clusterfuck behind the scenes. This producer sounds senile and Richard and him are already arguing and fighting over the spotlight after two days. I think our little bitch session probably doesn't mean anything to that sociopath but I imagine technically and logistically, that show has fallen apart.

AppealPlay

I just thought about something that brings me down.  I wonder if this OSOM drama is hurting Art's business?  I'm conflicted about it.  On one hand, Art is the man and I want nothing but success for him but on the other hand, Richard is an ass and deserves to lose his show.
