They made a TV show of that?!  What station? ???

Operation Kid Brother, an Itslian James Bond spoof starring Neil Connery, the kid brother I didn't know Sean had., as "Dr. Neil Connery." Because, why not?

And while I can't find anything to confirm it, I'm almost positive I saw Jimmy Page as part of a band that didn't look like The Yardbirds pretending to play to a soundtrack during a party scene early on. Does anyone know if if it could have been him?

Just watched Jack Reacher 2. It was pretty good.
I like the books and enjoyed the previous one so will check out. In a Halloween theme notice this AM that "Let's Scare Jessica To Death" was on the satellite 'free movie' channel. Something, some vibe about that movie always was creepy to me. Not sure what. Couldn't watch the whole thing again but brought up the same feeling. A weird movie. Effective. Not perfect or even, frankly, that good, but something odd that "gets" me.

It is an early 70's movie with a weird vibe. Not violent or shocking but the music, actors, setting are unsettling; for some reason. At least to me. Worth watching if never seen but don't expect much and be in the "right" mood (a little kid or after many beers drank and poo boxes burnt.)

Just watched a BBC movie in the cinema called Denial about a British court case around a Holocaust denier. It was pretty good, the planning of the court case and the re-enactment was  pretty well done.

I feel the exact same way albrecht.  That's one of those movies that always stuck with me.  I did watch it again nearly 30 years later and it seemed dull, but like you said, 'effective' and the creepy psychological drama was still present.  Something about the water scenes and the mist gave me the chills especially.

Read some real geek reviews on this. Everybody seemed to love it. I`m a big J. Renner and Amy Adams fan, so I`m truly looking forward to it.

I finally got around to watching ‘Glen Campbell … I’ll Be Me’ (on Netflix) that deals with Glen's fight with Alzheimer's Disease.  Predictably sad in certain parts but still fascinating how Glen was able to take part in his farewell tour.  He couldn't remember much but his music still occupied some part of his brain and he was able to sing (with teleprompter) and play his guitar.  Quite an amazing movie and lots of info on Alzheimer's contained in it. There were a number of gigs on the farewell tour and you could actually see Glen's condition progressively get worse by the final show.

This documentary was filmed in 2014 so I got to thinking about how Glen was doing nowadays, I mean two years have gone by...it couldn't be good.  So I ran a search on him just before writing this post and as it turns out, his wife had issued a statement to the press on October 25th of this year.  She announced that...
QuoteGlen Campbell is officially in the last stages of the disease and it’s only a matter of time before he will be saying goodbye to his family forever.

Please do, I love his music and his struggle with booze/etc and then the awfulness of Alzheimer's. But I like that people go public with whatever diseases or mental problems because it makes people aware and try to seek help early. And for families/spouse to learn how to deal with it and what to expect. There has been progress made but I wonder if the reason (contrary to C2C quacks) we see more instances of things like dementia and Alzheimer's is because we've been able to extent our life-span longer than people in the past but are lacking the same technology or something for brain health? As a non-doctor and pure speculator.

Everything is political. Yes Alzheimer's disease is horrible. I wonder if Reagan was already compromised when he supported the prohibition of stem cell research? Research that would help to understand and slow or even cure that disease. Ok, now I am going to wax philosophical for a moment. What is life? When people claim they are pro-life and think that stem cell research, even stem cells from the umbilical cord is wrong. Perhaps life within a single cell, can somehow enhance a life in danger of death. I dunno.

My story about Glen Campbell isn't about health.

Joe on TCM right now. It's dated and heavy handed, but it was a minor sensation when it was released. and is a captivating, but profoundly disturbing time capsule of its era.

Peter Boyle is tremendous in the title role, although it almost ruined his career because it typecast him for a few years, even though he was the antithesis of the character. It also features Susan Sarandon as a very convincing psycho rich girl junkie.

I'm very sad to hear he is about to go but at the same time joyful that the constraints of the disease will soon be lifted.  What a talent he has been and what a life he has had.  God bless Glen Campbell.  One of my favorites.

Am watching the 1922 version of Nosferatu (Brown and white ;) - the original  Nitrocellulose film ? ). Approximately 8 minutes into the movie a parchment is unrolled. I paused the playback to get a better look at what was on the scroll. Some type of symbols.

HOLY CRAP ! ! !

That's The Lesser keys of Sol-om-on (Goetia) and John Dee's Enochian Magic Sigils !     Dude unrolled an instructional grimoire right in the movie.  A grimoire, once decoded, gives instructions on summoning Nosferatu.  The symbology is close to being correct. I had to laugh at that one. The film was German made.

Will be paying much closer attention to this flick.  :o

Cool.  Now I have to watch it again.  How rare are the grimoires?

Looks to me like they were hand crafted for the movie, but they were done by someone skilled in the art, not just someone throwing a bunch of them together willy-nilly.

It's very interesting.   Oh shit...  1922 was the height of the spiritualism and mediumistic craze - depending on where you were.

That's Murnau for you.  He was quite the artist and took care in every detail.  We have no one making popular movies today in his league.

Not in the least.
I'm surprised a copy of the film survived. Bram Stokers widow apparently sued for copyright infringement, and when she won, and the money couldn't be paid, she settled for all the copies of the film to be destroyed. What you get now is a pieced together movie from all the collected scraps that survived.

Oh yeah, There are a couple of Phoenician symbols thrown in on the back side of the Grimoire too. Probably to make sure only someone erudite enough could figure it out. ???
You'll notice this a lot in older manuscripts where secrets are being transmitted.

Well film making is a much different craft/art in today's world. Many filmmakers introduce subtle pieces of information into their films, in which only the clued in or highly observant viewers see. The most recent example I can think of is The Conjuring 2. I will let you find those yourself, I think you will find it fun.

I continue to refer to an independent film, made in Denver, I believe, called Ink. A very low budget and extremely interesting and visually captivating film.
