She owes this gig in large degree to Art's appraisal of her voice so she's probably not gonna change it.
Reminds me of the nav voice in my car.

I couldn't agree more.  And I think it explains how C2C has remained on the air.

For example... and we thought NAFTA gutted the middle class:

Well, stalkers are usually focused on the individual they're stalking; they don't go around assaulting cops. So, Art's trespasser, Art's nutcase, maybe? Not as dramatic, but possibly closer to the truth.

Put a voice to the face.  Maybe it's the same dude who called in when the call turned creepy.  What's even more creepy is that he looks like he would sound like this.

The 'uptalk' combined with her 'vocal fry' affectation, makes her essentially unlistenable, anywhere outside of NPR or college radio.

I'd like some vocal cheese fries please.... whats the "vocal fry affectation?"

Haha I think Monday's guest provided those.  It's that weird grating thing some women do at the end of sentences.  There's a good video on the last page that demonstrates.

A sizzling or rattling sound to speech.  AKA the pulse register phonation or glottal fry, vocal fry is a quality of the lowest registers of the human voice.

You don't want to get me started on the TPP.  I spent months reading up on it and trying to explain to everyone all of the terrifying consequences we'd suffer if that thing passed.  I made info graphics and spread them around so people knew the main issues.  I think maybe three people gave a shit.  When everyone's freaking out about mass shootings and terror threats and Justin Bieber's latest traffic stop, they're too emotionally distraught to realize that a giant classified trade agreement written by corporate sociopaths is the greatest threat to their futures.  Which harkens back to my original point.

While it's true that both parties only represent their campaign donors now, and "wee folk" lack any meaningful representation in our government, the Republicans have been "more guilty" of conspiring with the plutocrats to create a global corpocracy to dominate all national interests.  The vote on fast tracking the TPP illustrates this:
http://www.againstcronycapitalism.org/2015/06/so-who-voted-for-tpp-fast-track-in-the-senate-list/

That's all I'm going to say about politics.  I just can't help myself when the TPP comes up.  The founding fathers never would've accepted secret negotiations to override our national sovereignty - the very existence of the sinister secret "fast tracking" protocol is treasonous, imo.

The insanity is tied to the US Administration's motive.... to "spread the wealth around" .... our wealth and our jobs to Asia.  The next 20 years will see another "jobs dump" from the US to Asia and a real reduction in the US middle class.  The economics behind this was invented in fairy tales.  As the real buying power of Americans drops every year, eventually there will be an inability for most to buy inflated priced garbage manufactured in China and other Asian hell-holes.

That guy loves Art more than a little bit too much...I can't see him coming after Art like this.  He *wants* Art on the air, but the stalker called to scare him *away* from the mic.

Someone had a brilliant idea last night:  an "Art's stalker" line.  That might actually work - psychos love to explain themselves.  But frankly the way this has gone down strikes me as a "gun for hire" scenario.  Someone intentionally ran Art off of his show.

I think it's more useful to see our representatives as "patsies" for the real powers that be, because that's what they are.  They're hired by the Rockefeller's and Rothschild's and Jamie Dimons and ClearChannels of the world to spin and pass the regulations that they want, and they pay for this service with campaign donations.  This way, the politicians shield the real players from any public outrage so they can buy yachts and NYC in peace.

And you're right - the American economy is doomed (barring some miraculous and unforeseeable change).  We're already seeing our entire social structure unravel.  We're only seeing the beginning of the mass shootings and riots to come.  Ultimately a revolution is inevitable; that's how all major empires end that aren't outright defeated in battle - and our military is far too powerful for that.

It's that tired, world weary voice the Kardashians and other women use. It's become a trend to speak this way among the millenials.

Uptalk connotes a certain smugness but it is the flip side of confidence.

Nothing new.  It's a spin-off affectation from the Valley Girl era in the 80's.  If only women knew they sounded like idiots.  Let's not even get into Duck-face.   ;D

What's sad is that the younger female generation of today isn't trying to reach a little higher.

American women sounded coolest when they were using the Mid-Atlantic accent.  It was strong, smart and sexy.

I had a roommate many years ago who was an adjunct professor, and she would uptalk. It was her "teacher voice" and she just forgot to leave it at work.

Heather's done a fine job. She was handed an awful situation and as made the best of it. I cancelled after Keith sent the email, and then asked for a refund with the instructions provided because I was so saddened by the abruptness of it all. If I were confident that the network was going to survive longer than the allotted 30 days, I'm more than open to re-subbing to support Heather.

That said, there are numerous quality podcasts I listen to without having to pay. Most podcasts are free, even when hosted by known celebrities, and I think most people will be hesitant to pony up money for the show until the waters have calmed.

probably also isnt help that RCH is actively trying to get that time slot either

Yeah, Art Bell.

That's a lie.  I listened to this man come on the air the night after his wife died, and share the entire agonizing experience with us.  I listened to him tell us about his son's unspeakable anguish.

I'm sure you can find plenty of faults with Art Bell if you're determined to dig in the muck.  But one thing he isn't, is a liar.

He's honestly told us what has actually been happening, and why he made his decision.  And if I had an eight-year-old daughter, I would've made the same decision.

Faulting him for this is sickening.  It's like blaming a rape victim.  And you do it over and over and over again, every day.

There was a creepier call than this, from a guy who said he puposely "Moved to Parhump to live near Art". He was very creepy and seemed to intentionally try to intimidate Art. The call was sometime in November-This guy just seems a little too lovey dovey but not too weird or malicious. The other caller creeped me out. I wish I remembered the date or show...
