Anyway, I’m all in favor of bombarding iHeart with emails. I’ll channel Keith and send one from each of my accounts.
LOL!

Also, was it Whitley Strieber (sp) who said in his post that Art was found dead in bed? How does he know? Why does nobody else have that info except for him? Or at least nobody else has made that kind of statement.

Interesting, I was listening to C2C last night and Connie said the rumor was that Art was found on the floor.

in the end I suspect the only lesson to be learned from it would be that there are some batshit crazy people in this world.

Lame! You're obviouisly one of them.  ::)

'Sitting'? Was that a typo?

From fairly early on, Art had a little sideline going where you could order copies of the show on tape. I don't know whether that applied to all of them or not but it must mean that they have a decent archive. Also, Art was a tech guy with an ego, who knew he was doing something different, so it would be hard to believe that he didn't have back-ups.

I also thought people had to have been buying those tapes, and at least a few folks held onto them.  It would surprise me if Art didn't have copies himself as well - Airyn would now own the physical copies, although not the IP

Aren't all those ''Somewhere In Time'' shows archives that were bought along with show itself when Art sold it?  Meaning someone (Art) was saving them at the time.  If so, hopefully he kept backups, rather than simply handing over what he had.

ItsTelly

I'm all for opening up the archives.

I recall not too long ago they opened them up for 10 years (as opposed to the usual 5) for a weekend or something as part of a Coast Insider promo.

Art's archive is pure gold and the real value of the C2C program.  It makes all the sense in the world to charge an extra $20 per year as part of the insider program to have access to it which means it will probably never happen.

So, we gonna group buy Art's property and start a Bellgab compound?

That'd stir a response from beyond, we'd get scratchy evps threatening lawsuits.

Quote from: GravitySucks on April 14, 2018, 05:48:14 PM
If we cancel our MITD and OSOM subscriptions we might be able to stretch it. Maybe WhiteCrow will cosign.

Hmmmm ..thinking, if ever becomes available purchase it for a memorial/museum to honor Art and his marvelous career. I'd certainly contribute to make that happen.

A hologram Art. Eh?

So myself being a ham radio operator like Art, I've listened to Art's after show ham radio conservations since the early 90's. One of the regulars in his radio group was Ben Gardner, KD7BCW.  Ben married Airyn's sister Cherry and they lived with Ben's aging mother in Salem, Oregon. Art even footed the bill for Ben to travel to the Philippines and meet his bride to be if memory serves me correct.

Ben died in August of 2015 at age 65 from a chronic illness (unknown) He was survived by his adult children, wife Cherry (Airyn Bell's sister) and his mother. I've always been curious if Cherry remarried or moved back to the Philippines. Maybe Cherry will (or may have already) set up residence at the Bell compound in Pahrump to help sister Airyn and Art.

I will say that one of my immediate thoughts was that maybe Art had something to do with the timing of all of this. Friday the 13th? sudden death? "Unattended"? He was very ill, and had he chosen to put himself out of his misery, I can only imagine he would have done so with his loving family out of the house.  (It's not uncommon for elderly men to resort to this).

Also, was it Whitley Strieber (sp) who said in his post that Art was found dead in bed? How does he know? Why does nobody else have that info except for him? Or at least nobody else has made that kind of statement.

As for the autopsy..  had Art been bad enough to be in hospice (which it sounds like he wasn't, or at least had not chosen to go that route at this point), he would not have had an autopsy.  They would have said he likely died from complications of his illness, which was already well established.  Even if his death was unattended.  (Many people die unattended and do not require autopsies. So did the family ask for one?)

Whitley said he died peacefully in his sleep which implies that. I'm not sure Whitley has his facts straight though. He also claimed Ramona was Art's first wife. Not true. She wasn't even #2.

Damn the Pahrump Valley Times!  They released the news and published the obituary before I was ready for them to.  Do they have a facebook page for me to post my disgust?  ;)

He was as fucking fat as a hippo and spent his free time jawboning on HF instead of getting in shape.  That’s why he died.

Considering the fact that even back in the day they would play "Best of" shows and would sell shows I'm sure there are hundreds if not thousands of DAT tapes of the show. I say this because you'll sometimes hear a "Best of " show somewhere that is remarkably clear and static free, and that leads me to believe they were saved in some way.

Some were from Art selling copies back when the law wasn’t so well defined regarding intellectual property issues.  (Pre Napster era).

Some are from fan recordings using the C Crane Replay that Art advertised for this purpose.  (Again before people gave a shit about this stuff)

The rest are copies from C2Cam SIT replays over the past decade.

IMO the good stuff is the deep archives that SIT never played.

Anyone know if Art had previously stated what his preference was to be after dying, ie to be buried, or to be cremated with instructions of where to scatter the ashes...
Buried with the headstone inscribed "Turn Off Your Radio"

ps: I hope as a part of his will the 3rd Secret, as revealed to him by Father Martin, will be unsealed.

I always thought the 'ouija' story didn't exist.  I feel like it was just something Art used to spin up a mystery for his listeners.  Radio is "theater of the mind" after all.
