I completely agree with you about her statement requiring your self censorship.

Agreed. Web Admins should be [censored] and not [censored]. :P

Back on topic. When did Art quit coast?

morphiaflow

Ringthane, all I have to say to you is--

Melenkurion Abatha! Duroc Minas Mill! Harad Kabaal!

Welcome, Unbeliever.

morphiaflow

Happened to catch a few minutes of Noory's open lines tonight while driving home, and tuned in just in time to hear this...(paraphrased)

CALLER: So, do you or anyone at Premier hear from Art Bell anymore?
GEORGE (firmly): No.
CALLER: So you couldn't even get him on for a 20 minute interview?
GEORGE: I've reached out to Art to interview him about his life now but he just doesn't want to do it.
Next caller please...

I'm sure someone can transcribe the actual words when the MP3 is available tomorrow, but that was the substance/gist of it.

*******************************

So whatever Art is teasing, I think we can pretty much rule out its having anything to do with Coast, or at least--with Noory.

Art quit the last time a little before October 2011, I believe.
So Noory had to take over the annual Halloween Ghost to Ghost show for the first time in 2011 and again in 2012, plus the New Year's Eve caller predictions shows.

that was already made clear by Art a few months back when Art first considered returning to radio with a different network, but he couldn't come to a deal then apparently or changed his mind.

I'm just freaking out!!  I can't wait to hear Art on the radio again, in any format.   All the old recordings I have are just about memorized by now.  Noory is just not the same quality of interviewer that Art is.  He asks stupid questions, interrupts guests with statements that make no, or little sence, etc.

Do it Art!!!  WE WANT TO TAKE A RIDE!!

...to which Turiya Raver replied .. "Hah! Little Lord! Is that the limit of your lore? Can you come no closer than that to the Seven Words? You pronounce them badly. But I must admit you recognised me ... I am Kinslaughterer."

Rasputin

This just in:
Art just retired.
If he was serious about any kind of a return, he would not be stringing us along like this. Art, if your reading this, just a do a podcast like Howard Hughes does...one or two shows a month with no callers and you get to pick your own guests.

This is fantastic news!

I assume the red, white and blue coloring of the Morse code suggests he is also returning to the States. (unless he's been back for a spell already and I'm just unaware..)

I wonder if he'll do a normal radio deal again or if he'll take advantage of internet radio and/or podcasting. I think an Art Bell podcast would be huge, like biggest podcast on iTunes-huge.

Someone mentioned previously that interest in Art Bell is waning. Nonsense! I'm sure once Art returns, so will his audience.

F George Noory. F George Noory in the A.

OK...so I'd love to have Art back on the radio but it seems to me that if there was any real scuttlebutt in Industry circles about Art launching a new radio show then Premier would have stopped broadcasting Somewhere in Time a long time ago. When they stop broadcasting the old shows then we can get excited....

WANNATAKEARIDE......?

Sounds like fun but it depends.  Are you going to leave me stranded on side of the road 50 miles into the trip? Are you even going get into the car in the first place?  And if you do are you even going to start the car and put it in gear?

YAWN is pretty much my reaction to it at this point.

Hey folks,

I just checked in because I got the e-mail so I was naturally curious. I still listen to C2C occasionally via streamlink, but I'm a bit behind. I know Ian is leaving, which is disappointing because I'm a big Ian fan, but why hasn't anyone in the thread suggested that Art might take Ian's once a month gig?

When Ian went to once a month he referred to it as the "emeritus slot," and since he was the guy that replaced Art at least twice (and I think he announced his return once or twice), he always said he was just keeping Art's chair warm. Seems like a natural enough move, if Art and the powers that be can bury the hatchet.

It seems obvious, so since no one else suggested it I'm wondering if there's a reason I'm unaware of that it won't happen?

It would be great to have Art back, if for no other reason than to head off one more night a month of "So [guest], what is it that drives you? You just don't quit!"

Diabhal

Lot of people are going to be disappointed again seemingly. Big fan of Art and all but I'm a bit sick of these teases that lead to fuckall.

Maybe it's a mail-order bride/sex-tourism website for lonely Hams?

Here is more speculation.
Noory's contract expires at the end of this year.  He will have a new website at the end of the month and be reading health care vignettes. That is not going to work for Coast to Coast.  Noory is not getting fired, he is being repositioned.  He will have a show, but it will cater more to his interests and be shorter, two hours, so that he can have four guests.  It be entitled A Healthy Dose of George Noory.

The meat and potatoes is going to be giving back to Art and John Wells,.  Coast is going to be given to John B. Wells and Art will be doing weekends with George Knapp on his usual Sunday shift.

My problem wasn't with her points, ideas, or opinions. It was with her snarky, self righteous approach to everything. She also suggested I should keep my opinions to myself since I am a forum administrator. That I can do without.
Funny you mention her because she logged on this morning!  I haven't seen a post though.

This is probably all just written for fun.. But would sure be interesting..
I wonder if there was ever any meetings between the Bell and the Wells back in 2007 when JB first guest hosted (and was not political)

Funny, I thought she at times made some of the more intelligent conversations we had.

She did look down her nose at times... but so do you guys. And so do I. For the people that have left here due to uncomfortability she is one I miss the most.

Yeah I thought some of her points were silly, but I am sure many here feel that way about me. I am just to obtuse to notice.
I never really had an issue with her, I just didn't like the way she quit - insulting MV on the way out - and then, once Art posts here, she pops back in like nothing had happened.

Art has made it very clear that he has burned his bridges with the PremRat radio douches.  Stranger things could happen, but there is zero chance you will ever hear Art again on Coast...except Somewhere in time of course.

Rollye talked about it last night on her show. :)

I wasn't expecting the smiley face to ever change. So I welcome the code.

I cannot imagine Art having anything to do with Premiere or Coast to Coast AM. If he did decide to return to radio, it would be with a new show and he would be in charge.  No John B. Wells, no Alex Jones.  I strongly believe a good part of his motivation would be to euthanize Coast to Coast.  It must be painful for him to sit on the sidelines and see what a radioactive cesspool his creation has become under the ownership of Premiere.

Art returned to live in Pahrump, Nevada with his family several years ago.

Do you think Airyn's gonna be taking the place as his right hand lining up guests? That's nice to think about.

If I had to guess - if Art were to come back it would be something completely different from his original Coast shows - I think we've been saturated with UFOs and Bigfoot and all that from TV for the past 10-15 years (thanks to Art Bell pioneering it and getting people interested in the first place).  It's stale now, and Art would be anything but stale.  For the same reason I don't think he'd do a political show either.

Maybe more cutting edge science - those shows were great.  Maybe nothing but open lines.  Sometimes something wacky would be going on and Art would track the person down and interview them.  A once a week show like that could be done.

I hope we find out.

ringthane... wtf... you were one of my favorite posters and then poof... you don't call, you don't write... what gives?

anyway, hope all is well.  glad to see you around.

by the way... there are numerous regular coastgab users who haven't listened to c2c in years.  you wouldn't be the only one.
