I guess what I really don't understand is this..  and this isn't directed at just you, but you can probably answer: why is there a constant need to repeat yourself, your sentiments, your view point, over and over and over? I don't get the purpose of it? If you ask Art a question (let's say), and he answers you (whether to your liking or not), what is the point of continuing to ask the question(s)?  Nobody else can answer those questions but Art- again, it doesn't matter if he (in your opinion) answered fully, or truthfully, or whatever.  So far, nobody has answered your questions to what seems to be your liking. So I would ask: what is it you want, what do you hope to gain, and do you truly believe that you will find what you're looking for? If the answer to any of those is no, then what is the point of repeating yourself? 

Those on either side of the issue, and even those in the middle, are all basically doing the same thing.  In part, because most like to have the last word- but on a forum, nobody gets the last word.   Literally, we just go around in circles until somebody says stop. MV isn't doing that (and that's his call), but nobody else seems to have enough self control to stop, either.

Obviously you don't have to be an Art Bell fan to post here. I've found that out just in the last little while, as I've become more of a regular poster.   I think you could have a lot to add to this place besides the posts on your disdain for all of the "lies" and "half-truths" you think that have been told..  those aren't the only reasons you want to be here, right?

I don't think the case can even be made that people are defaming Heather. She is, to all intents and purposes, a ghost. She has revealed nothing about herself whatsoever - we probably don't know her name (we should really call her 'Heather Wade') because we almost certainly haven't been told the real one, and was presumably told to come up with one at the behest of Art. People can say what they like about her because they are saying things about a shadow, rather than a person with a presence in the real world. She is merely a disembodied voice right now. The problem with this situation is that you can't have it both ways: you either front up and deal with the consequences, or you leave a large vacuum that will be filled up with all sorts of speculation.

Hence my forseen problems for Ms Reacted, when I,  on the  Gabcast months ago, played the " creepy guy, her number one fan and asking for her photograph" ..I was buzz buzzing in Ms Redacted's ear, that she needed to develop a public presents to be accepted.
Much of Heather's role out and future problems could be avoided if both her and  Art received advice  from PR and business professionals.

Geez where would Rush be,  with all his problems,  without the advice of professional handlers?

I understand Art and Heather's desire and the appeal to stay in a 'small-world' but that won't work anymore,  in the age of information at our finger tips.

I first came here because I was outraged and disgusted by Art pulling the same stunt he pulled two years ago with Sirius.  I'm late to the discussion because I wasn't aware of Bellgab until recently, and also because I didn't know Art had quit again until several days after he announced it.

I walk a lot, and listen to podcasts while I walk.  But I tend to binge listen to the same podcast several days in a row, and I subscribe to a lot of them - MITD, Diane Rehm, Red Ice, Hagmann and Hagmann, Kunstlercast, C2C (guest hosts), Entrepreneur on Fire, Smart Passive Income, This American Life, Clyde Lewis, etc.  And then sometimes I won't walk for a few days, so I'm often not up on the latest news with respect to MITD or any other podcast. (Although, TBH, most podcasts don't generate nearly the same amount of  drama "news" as MITD.)

At any rate, I found out about Art's stunt a week or so after it happened.  And I went ballistic.  He has no respect for his fans.  He thinks that his fans are either so gullible they'll believe this nonsense, or that they have so little self-respect that they don't mind being fed huge, obvious lies again and again. And, obviously, there are some people who fall into  those categories.  Several of both kinds are on here. 

But, basically, I just came to vent.  I expected to be attacked, and I was, and I believe I have given as good as I got, and then some.  And, frankly, I do enjoy "debating" people, especially when their main arguments are calling you a fag, a troll, an idiot, or accusing you of beating a dead horse.  Go back through and see just how rarely anyone has tried to legitimately answer a question.  Good luck!

And I partly wanted to show people out there who still have open minds that they're not the only ones who recognize that Art's story is complete nonsense.  There are always dozens of Guests reading this thread, sometimes over 100, and you better believe a lot of them have questions.  And when someone asks "Why does Art claim the phone call was terrorism when he's talking to reporters or looking for sympathy, but then when asked why he refuses to file a police report about it, he claims it was nothing but some kid goofing off?" and an AB True Believer replies "You are 2.0+ standard deviations on the asshole scale", well, that may impress other AB True Believers, who are all like "You go girl!", but anyone with an ounce of objectivity  sees it for what it is - namecalling instead of answering a perfectly sensible question.

Anyway.... I'm pretty close to being done venting.  I was pretty much finished Christmas Eve, but then Art came on, and I told him he should quit making things worse, put all this behind him, and just enjoy Christmas with his family.  Then GravitySucks said I had my "nose up Art's ass" and told me to STFU.  So I decided to come back for a while.

But I won't be around much longer. Like I said, I was mainly venting.  And I think I've mostly got it out of my system.

I'm confused when people comment about famous people's personal life. To me it really doesn't matter. I don't know you personally- why would I even have an opinion?

In my mind anything show related is fair game. But your personal life is none of my business beyond what you decide to share. And even then I'm just "some guy on the internet".

However, I've had two small brushes with personal fame and I know what being in the spotlight is like. When the metaphorical shots start getting fired: you don't know who is actually shooting.

Seems like a really big thing at the time it is happening. My solution was to not seek "fame" and I retreated from being on stage since my personality type doesn't lend itself well to all the attention.

So I understand your reaction with recent events. Even if I was sorely disappointed- I simply like what you do and made time for it every day.

I am of a similar mind.  I'm fortunate in that most of my acquaintances mean what they say.  I'm not used to this vacillation and retraction and perhaps fabrication.

However, things are as they are.  My job is not on shaky ground because of Art's decisions.  What did I lose?  A few hours of a talk show weekday nights.  I gained a lovely radio and so a greater variety of programming to which I had never availed myself. 

It must not be easy, being Art, to immerse yourself and then have to dig yourself out so often.  He seems to enjoy shooting himself in the feet.  Thank goodness he has enough dough to shelter his family from these ups and downs.
