Art Bell

For a show with Art at the helm, I'm sure it'll be "a rose by any other name..."

I couldn't care less about the name of the show, I always thought coast to coast sounded like a adolescent's bicycle purchased at Montgomery Ward.

Art could call his show "A loud and Thunderous Piano and Feather" and I would still want to listen.

Like it...  Don't love it but like it.

Over the past few days, about half the time when I log onto BellGab I see that Art Bell is also logged in.  I like to imagine that Art has determined that we are representative of his desired target audience.  He's reading posts, learning about us - what we like, what we think about all manner of things, how we communicate.  He's studying us.  He wants to deliver the best show to us of which he's capable.  He wants to kick C2C's ass.  He says competition is fun!   We are Team Art Bell, an arrow in Art's quiver pointed directly at the heart of PremRat.

I find it comforting.  Carry on.

Like abduction, minus the anal probing.

I'm still really interested in the TBA weekend. Hoping for a weekend host.

I too wasnt all that impressed by the show's name Dark Matters but Art doesn't push words with out thought.
Won't be long and we will all grow to love it, just as we've all grown to hate the name Coast to Coast or it's contents.

When Art was the host of "Coast to CoastAM," I never gave the title of the show much thought.  I just thought it was such a cool show, fitting for the hours of darkness.  I just referred to as "Art Bell" and most folks knew what I was talking about.  Noory has tainted the show forever and when I think of "Coast to CoastAM" now, I just think of a nighttime amateurish kiddie-type show with a terrible host.  Noory is a running joke that's become a synonym for "suck."  As far as show titles, I always thought Art's best titled show was "Dreamland."  That one nailed it.

Just in from Art's Facebook page:

I want to thank all of you for the many messages that never in a zillion Years I could answer. There is not much I
can say now. However some Months ago I asked Premiere to stop my Saturday replay, I thought they had run their
course and I wanted them gone for reasons I will not state here. They refused and continue to this day for reasons
I still don't understand, so thank Premiere for my new show. I also want to thank George for signing his new LONG
term contract. Without those two things I would not be going back on air. I would only add that if Premiere is going
to continue my Saturday show, please tag it at the end with.."for new shows, please tune to Sirius/XM 104".

With regard to George talking about my new show last night, whatever his motives were, he took the high
ground and can now pick up open lines without undue fear, good move and thanks for the plug.

George has a good trait, he is a nice guy. I would like to dispel the notion however that I picked him for the show, I did not.
The bone I have to pick is with Premiere and it goes well beyond Saturday replays, I have been called a serial Retiree
on the Web and it annoys me because the rest of the story has yet to be told. I may well tell it soon and I think you will
all be quite shocked.

Art

Sorry I'm commenting on something several days/pages old...catching up after several days buried in work projects.

Well, I think this puts the lie to Fort Rock having anything to do with Art's return...certainly Art would mention him if that were the case, right? haha. I notice he's been awful silent since he announced his move to China...

And giving Art the benefit of the doubt, perhaps he is using "trait" in a more general sense, like "he has a nice manner". Clearly I don't think he's under any delusion about who and what Dave is, but to paraphrase the man himself, he's taking the high road about his successor. I think he will save the real vitriol, if there is any, for PremRat themselves. He is less upset at the tool than in the hands that created and wield the too. Also, I agree that we're as likely to hear it on his first show back as anywhere else.

I also think there is very little doubt that both Art and Dave and their various associates (Tommy/PremRat and Keith, respectively) monitor this site, and that the attitudes, thoughts and opinions expressed here, as well as Bateman's calls, had as much to do with Dave's comments as well as Art's. So I think we all deserve to feel a little special, but especially Bateman, and of course MV. We made a difference.

I respect that Art has his own reasons for wanting SIT discontinued, but as a fan I'm glad it will go on, at least for now. Let's see if PremRat complies with his tag request, though....

Regardless, it's such a great cosmic irony that Art credits Dave's contract and Premiere's refusal to stop SIT as the primary reasons he's returning to the airwaves. Isn't it funny how we create our own monsters? May Dark Matter live long and prosper. (Gods, I can't believe I just said that.)

Oh, and FTF...pop a Valium, get yourself laid, whatever you need to do to chillax, man, seriously.

jazmunda

Just my 2 cents (and I hope I'm wrong) but I don't think Art will spill the beans on his new show. I think he will make a vague mention of his disdain for PremRad but I think he will leave it at that.

I would like to coin the show, The Night with Art Bell and hear Morphine as the nightly opener.  Just my opinion.

I said you had a right to your viewpoints and you tell us all to shut up?  On a public forum that exists to talk about Art Bell?  Sir, you do not sound well.

It really does not do to keep feeding the trolls.  Resist the urge, and they will quickly starve and slink away.

For some reason, there's a lot of negativity about Art's announcement & the fact that he used a title of a failed Snoory project. I've already put MY money where MY mouth is ( or typing fingers or keyboard, I dunno ). I bought a Sirius receiver and WILL be listening to the first moment Art goes back on the air.

That makes two. I was listening to Rush Limbaugh when he first aired on his show on KFBK and have even been featured in a post on his website.

I probably could never be on Art's show as a caller because I know how impossible it was to get on in the old days.

Hmm, Dark Matter.

Isn't that what all the burnt out brain cells that have died out in Snoory's brain are called ?

And I expect someone to use the title of  "A loud and Thunderous Piano and Feather" as a podcast very soon.

:)

Since the organization of this forum has changed a little, I just wanted to let all you folks know the George Noory Sucks thread reached 1000 pages tonight, with a little help from the man himself.

This.

Art Bell is one of the greatest broadcasters ever.  We are incredibly fortunate he's decided to come back and spend some more time with us.  Whatever the name and however he decides to run his show, I'm thankful to have whatever time we have left listening to Art Bell.

I was going to suggest "Art Bell's Matching Pen and Shovel Set" but I didn't think he'd go with it. I would still want to listen.

I love the negative comments from constant bitchers like Fight The Future ( the great X-Files movie ). I find people like that oddly fascinating. Cereal pissers like them always find a way to make something awesome into a total bitch fest. "Fight the Future, congrats you won the lottery!! Thanks, I gotta pay the taxes on it though"  You get my drift.

I work in a call center and got a call yesterday from a guy in Pahrump, Nevada.  I perked up while I was taking his info and said "Hey that's where Art Bell is from". The dude just said, "Who?"
"It's some guy on the radio. Just proves I'm old" I told him.

I'm 37 and today I learned I'm old.

Not exactly.

I just happen to have some well-founded concerns.

Did anyone noticed that Noory thanked Art at the end of the show last night?  Don't know when he started that again--but I guess they decided the BIG IGNORE was a huge failure.

Also there are some ripping Art for being a hypocrite because when George took over for Art he said he's leaving the show in good hands and that George "really gets it"--as opposed to Mike Siegal.  They say now Art is ripping George as not edgy NOW because its competition and maybe sour grapes.  They say Art was either lying before or now.

I don't buy what the Art haters are saying--I think Art simply changed his mind as he heard more of George over the years.

Noory said he stopped mentioning art because art didn't want to be affiliated with the show. Noory thought more on it and felt it was absurd not to mention the guy who built the show.
People still think Dave "gets it"??
Odd . I agree the more you listen the more you know dave doesn't get it. George was ok until he moved from St. Louis and decided to be a corporate whore.

I wish art was on sooner. Maybe he should use FB more and tell us parts of story.

He "gets it" as much as a 1 month old child gets "toilet training".
George's version is just as crappy as the behind of a one month old.
My Opinion.

When Art was Coast to Coast AM (Most of us only called it The Art Bell show) I listened damn near every night since the first time I happened upon the program. Back when Dr. Jonathan Green claimed he had an alien in his freezer.
"What the hell is this interesting program?" I thought to myself. I was hooked.

Anyone know where to get second madman marcum interview. Couldn't find anything on YouTube.

Noory again added Art Bell to his end of the show thank you list starting last Friday night, the same night he did his big announcement about Art's new show.

Dark Matter seems like a really bad name for Art's new show.  It seems there are a number of similar shows on tv and radio that are similarly named.  Shadow Hour would be better.

I agree.  "Into the Night with Art Bell" sounds better, but I'm not going to fuss over it.  I just call it "the Art Bell Show" anyway.

dan7800

A rose by any name would still smell as sweet.

b_dubb

yes but if you're selling roses you aren't going to call them shit piles. roses tend to sell better. and since there are a lot of shows/podcasts out there with the same name it would make sense from a business perspective to name it something else. some of the sarcastic suggestions that were made in response to my prior post would be preferable. at least they are unique enough that when you would google them you might actually find what you're looking for and not a bunch of unrelated nonsense that has the same name

choice or name however has not dimmed my interest in listening to the new show. howevere name choice suggests no one is interesting in forging new ground

Evidently one of his first guests is Hoagland. As much as I look forward to Art Bell's return, I am not happy about having to listen to Hoagland.
