I think some are misinterpreting Art's message about guests old and new--he's not saying old guests will ONLY be on the first couple of weeks...just that he will start with them.

By the way what did Noory say about Mars?

Still no "Boob Boom Ba" at the Dark Matter site or during the lead-up to it. Holding out that it's his new opener instead of the Chase.

Hahaha.... ;D  At the current rate, by the time NASA reaches Mars, Noory's Reich could rule for a 1000 years.  I hope China or SpaceX picks-up the pace.  Just divert any Pluto funds to Mars exploration, though.

God, I love that movie.  ;D  If "Maximus" could come back from the dead and do another QUALITY flick, I'd be almost as happy as Art coming back to broadcasting.

Hahaha....no, only "Gladiator."  Ridley and Crowe hit that one out of the park.  I'm sure Dave and Tommy have shared many special "Spartacus" moments, though, while passing the popcorn.  ;)

You Like Movies About Gladiators

Stoked arts going to do 4 hours a night most the time. If his age/back starts acting up he can just pull a George a duck out early.

I'm sad arts going to start with his past guest. But honestly outside of Hoaxland, dead wrong dames, Lmh and a few others, I'm ok with it.

I know arts a legend and is a great radio host. I also understand he isn't what he used to be because of his age. Really it's a honor to listen to him, but I hope he keeps in mind a large portion of his listeners are paying for Sirius just for him. We don't really want these tired recycled guest. I m glad to see he has a producer/booker assisting him with guest, but art still has all the power.

I'm very glad we won't be hearing The Numbers Nut, Springheel Jack reruns, and, praise be, there will be NO UFO Phil.  :P

I'm sure what Art is going to do is have some of his old guest sprinkled thru from time to time while having a lot of new guests too.

I'm fine with both the old and new.  Just happy they are all talking to Art!

Art had his back problems during 2002 when he had to take off a lot and Noory and others filled in at the last minute, until he retired and Noory took over fully at the beginning of 2003.
But a year or two later when Art came back to do weekends, he said on the air he had solved the back problems by losing a lot of weight.

This was never true though. The back issues were not what caused him to 'retire'. Premiere essentially forced him out. Art never wanted to leave radio.

It sounded like he couldn't to finally tell it.  I hope he does.

Announcing plans to hold the guests over - and into the opening of the George Noory show - was significant from someone who earlier didn't want to 'destroy' what he'd built, and originally set the hours of the new show so as not to be on at the same time as Georges.

I think the first several shows are going to cover a lot, especially the first one.  Unless he wants to have guests on for awhile at first so new listeners can get a feel for the show.

Saturday, he essentially said that for the first two weeks, it is going to be business as usual. I take that to mean it will be identical to what his C2C shows were, and then after that he was going to start doing some new things.

I find it strange that be would leave radio and never say why or rather be truthful about the why.  Maybe he'll tell all.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. :-*

Speaking of straight, sure will be nice to have straight up show with Art Bell again.

It sounds like he is considering telling everyone, but he has outright said, at least three times publicly this year, that he never chose to retire. He was having serious problems with Premiere, and he was forced into retirement. The only people who could do that to him are Premiere. I would imagine his non-compete clause also had a gag order attached to it that expired at the same time. We'll see what he ends up saying about it, but Art seems pretty fired up at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised to have him initially decide not to say anything, but then sometime during the first show go ahead and say it. Really I think he is going to need to tell all so that people don't ask him about it X amount of times per hour while he is on the air.

Art straight out said he never chose to retire. His back was a great cover though, don't you think? I don't blame him for keeping it private at the time. It was probably embarrassing and frustrating for him all at the same time. I think it was the day his non-compete clause was up when he first told everyone he didn't choose to retire. It's pretty clear that he had a gag order in there, and probably a very large sum of money attached to him violating it.

Those who have never been forced out of a job due to random corporate wills would have no idea how ruthless the corporate world can really be. Been there and was on the receiving end of same.... it ain't pretty at all......

And 'gag orders' can indeed take a back seat to the large dollars offered to zip yer lips regarding how rotten you're treated during the reaming process.   ???

I'm not sure you got this right - I can't see how Riley Martin could be called a low grade imitator of Art. He was just a guest, an alleged abductee, who was on Coast at least three or four times, and probably for whole shows. I don't think he was ever on with Art, but I remember in particular a whole show he did with Ian. He sounds like an older guy, and with his dry, matter-of-fact delivery, I thought he was a scream, although very likely insane. I think he told a story about having a boxing match with his alien abductors, after which he asked them to give him an alien woman as a reward. I would love to hear Riley Martin on DM.

Edit: Having said all that, I just Googled him and I see that he DOES have his own show on Sirius XM, so I guess I stand corrected. Still found him funny. I might tune in to his show now!

The funny thing is the reason Riley has a show on SiriusXM is because of Howard Stern. It started off as a joke on the Stern show they were going to let him do a "show". Well that show he did had so many callers call into the show that they kept the show around.

I can't wait to be relaxed late at night again.  It is just impossible to believe how long it's been.  Art really does that to you.  You can lie back in a hot bubble bath and polish your toenails without getting it everywhere.

Five hours of George Noory?  Four hours of the new Coast to Coast is already a chore to listen to.  I think he'd be better to take it to one hour.  Then perhaps he could be more focused and not be in direct competition with Art Bell.  Everyone would be happy.

Maybe 5 or 6 years ago an open lines caller told Jorch something about Art's 5 hour shows and asked ol Jorchie if he ever considered doing it. Jorch responded with something similar to "wow...5 hours!? That's a long time"
