George Noory Sucks! - The Definitive Compendium

Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

No

I guess Art listened to the Halloween special, too. I wonder how long it took for him to bail out. As soon as I saw the first guest, I said "Screw you", turned the laptop off and read a book. I'm glad I dodged that maelstrom of mediocrity.  ::)

that is rather odd of me.  who misses a cheese hat?
haha... there was huge discussion in regards to the cheese hat and it's origins... good stuff

The last time art was on to host ghost to ghost, although I enjoyed it he didn't seem very interested. Maybe it could have just been fatigue. You said art listened last night? Would like to hear what he has to say. Especially on the issues of premier radio replaying his content.

As I said before, last nights show was very bad, surprisingly bad... Anyone can host ghost to ghost, yet noory screwed that up.

There was a post on this thread that's gone now that quoted Art on his FB page saying he wanted his name taken off C2C because it's gone down the drain. The 'Art Quits' thread has the details now. It just seemed from the timing that he'd listened in last night and had the same reaction everyone else did. I agree about the last time he hosted G2G, but by that time, he probably had it up to here with PremRat. Even so, it was a better show than last night's with Noory.

Here's the Cliff's Notes version of what's transpired:

The shot heard 'round the radio world.

Return fire!

It would be somewhat ironic if last night's pitiful non-attempt at G2G was the "last nail in the coffin."  Maybe enough for Art to hoist that flag and take no prisoners.

Art often mentioned how competitive he was in the broadcast industry. He wanted to be the best. And I would say he was for a time.

Replacing Art Bell with George Noory is like replacing Sean Connery with Roger Moore.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if last night's show was the nail in the coffin. But this has been a long time coming, I'll bet. I'm not totally blaming Noory for singlehandedly turning the show into a infomercial/conspiracy paranoia fest, that honor probably goes to PremRat and Noory's desire to move out to California and go 'corporate', something Art always fought. I get the feeling that the autonomy Art enjoyed is a thing of the past, and PremRat is steadily moving the show in directions Art resisted until he sold the show, and Noory is rolling over because he likes the paycheck and the recognition he gets.  Maybe last night with Noory's pitiable attempt to have a decent ghost to ghost show was the last straw, or maybe Art's shows being the lead-in to Well's conspiracy fests and shotgun out the backdoor added to it. Whatever the case, Art is trying to cut any remaining ties to this sinking ship.

No doubt, Art is the best.  It was bad enough to lose Art from radio but to replace him with an amateur hack phoney such as Noory is a disgrace.  Grim, IMHO, you're being too kind.  It's like replacing Sean Connery with Larry the Cable Guy.  ;)

I suppose you're right. Sir Roger Moore was an adequate replacement Bond and the longest serving one as well.

I'll see your LTCG and raise you one Rowan Atkinson. Could you imagine Bean Bond?

LacyWoodrow

Wow. Just wow. I wonder if last nights broadcast was enough to put him over the edge? I hope he fires up his giant radio antenna and starts doing his show again. Let coast to coast die, and be reborn. It's the only way.

P.S. Please everyone show their support on his FB page, and keep it clean so he won't disown the comments. He's a nice guy, but doesn't like to be pushed around by the crap C2C has been grieving to his persona. Maybe he will listening and make a move.

Hahahaha.... :D  I'll have to admit I haven't caught much of Mr. Bean.  Can ANYONE adequately represent the boobery of Noory? I wouldn't trust Noory with a lemonade stand.  He'd no doubt be trying to push Carnivora-ade.  :P

Are we C2C zombies?

Just re-watched the great Dawn of the Dead (1978) the other night and thought about the scene where Gaylen Ross watches the undead wandering the shopping mall. "What are they doing, why do they come here?", she wonders. Her boyfriend says "Some kind of instinct...memory. What they used to do. This was an important place in their lives."

Where is someone to shoot you in the head when you need it?

This hit too close to home. :(

If I was going to cast someone as Noory it would have to be Joe Don Baker in a drunken stupor

I actually stumbled across that searching for Coast's Twitter handle. Someone must like George and that thing that's growing on top of his head.

That comparison is not very accurate.
Noory is more like replacing Sean Connery with Peewee Herman  :o

we should all hope Noory finds super success on a TV show, so much that he then gives up the radio show completely...

Somehow I think George is egotistical enough to think he's a two-sport athlete.

Ugh, five minutes in and it's the Ty and Georgie stroke-fest.

I've been lurking around here for a couple of weeks and have found this thread to be a kindred spirit of sorts. I have listened to Coast to Coast since October of 1998 (Ghost to Ghost of that year was actually my first show) and what I attempted to listen to last night was not Ghost to Ghost. I lasted I think until about the third hour and then had to shut it off. I too have noticed George's bumbling and simple-minded ineptness during interviews now over the last couple of years (I know it's gone on longer than that but it's only been the last year or so where I really began noticing it). Not really listening to his guests, repeating questions after the guest has already answered that question maybe ten or fifteen minutes before, interrupting them, everything that has been covered in this thread basically. I used to listen nightly. Then I became selective, and now I barely listen at all. Maybe here and there. I will still catch Ian's shows, and George Knapp on Sundays...John Wells started off all right but then started to irritate me as well. It's really sad what's happening.

I can remember a while ago, probably sometime last year, a caller phoned in and tried to note (Ian was hosting that night) how different Coast had become in recent time and while Ian was his usual diplomatic self basically dismissed her concerns and said that it is still the same show that it had always been. That was when I knew that I was not alone and noticed the change as well. It's not the same show. I thought Mike Siegel's time was bad...but this might be worse. I was a big Noory fan at first as well...but not any more. Just thought I'd toss in my own frustrated experience.

As if Noory's ghost-to-ghost suckfest wasn't enough, Noory is hosting Sunday night as well this weekend.
Also he is planning an all election reports show on Tuesday night.
Noory obviously really wishes he could make c2c another politics talk show.

Did you guys see this on Facebook?  Worth supporting.  Let's get a grass roots movement going to get GN off the show.

George looks rather bald in that Facebook picture. Maybe that thing on top of his head in the Coast pic is a toupe.

LacyWoodrow

Anyone up to updateing Art Bell's Wikipedia page with his Facebook comments? His page hasn't been updated in so long.  I'm not sure how to do it, or else I would.

I don't know. You seem to have a full quiver of sarcasm.
