Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

...he's getting worse...  A sad, pathetic old man making a fool out of himself.
So, basically he is simply following the same strategy he uses to host his radio program each night and ends with the same result?

The fact is that if I were in a pub and he sung Karaoke I would probably think it was not too awful (I am used to having my ears bleed when somebody sings and I usually get out if I see them setting up karaoke.)  However, it is far from good enough to be worthy of purposely performing in public as what you believe to be an attraction.  Perhaps Tommy encourages it and tells him how good he is as revenge for the early morning calls to give him a ride to the hospital and putting up with the dolt night after night?  It would also explain the submerging artists when Tommy tells George that if these people actually recorded their songs then Georges Elvis impersonation is worthy of public performance.

There's an intriguing thought... has he only started the singing thing since the pizza roll incident?

Sounds like good material for some Paper*Boy "Jorch and Tommy" cartoons.

And no doubt behind the scenes producer Ma Noory has done her part to encourage this as well

Robert Bauval on Egypt tonight.  Could be classic C2C. Oh wait...Noory is hosting. The only thing Noory knows about Egypt is to mention his pal (ha!) Zawi Hawas' name as often as possible; even though Noory's father was born in Egypt. Wouldn't be surprised if Noory drops Bauval early before his deep ignorance is exposed.

Morgus

Noory has added a last minute first hour guest to talk about the possibility of head transplants.
Noory should volunteer to be one of the first to get a total head transplant from someone like Art Bell... :D

Or maybe he can get one from an Elvis impersonator to help launch his new career in Vegas.  ;)

I might actually tune in tonight. I can't believe I'm saying that, but I've enjoyed Bauval's books and interviews. A shame Noory has to be a part of it.

Quote from: onan on July 01, 2013, 02:24:46 PM...I have been giving some thought to noory, however. I think he has, and this is just a guess, some form of pseudo-dementia. It doesn't mean he is faking. Rather he is showing signs of dementia, at least by reports here, as evidenced by significant slurring and mispronunciation of words, multiple examples of lapses in memory, and (if I maintain an objective view) confabulation ie, stories of ownership and status that don't measure up to any realistic measurement. Psuedo-dementia can be brought on by depression....
Listen to this man.

Actually there is a disorder called anosognosia which means a deficit in self awareness. In strokes it presents to lack of awareness to a portion, usually one side of the victim. In mental illness there can be significant lack of awareness to one's whole presentation.

This is cracking analysis. Just brilliant.

Assuming this is an accurate diagnosis, does this syndrome manifest itself uniformly regardless of the victim's intellect? Also, do we believe this is a recent development? Jorch is 63, did he have this when he was 53 at the start of his C2C tenure? I can't recall if he was this addled-brained back then.

Thoughtful insight ......
Noory is 'lesser' now than when he started with C2C.  Had always thought that he was just lazy and bored.  Maybe a medical condition present?

I have a question about this for you, onan.  Can pseudo-dementia have intermittent symptoms?  I ask this because several months back during a Knapp show I heard two commercials pre-recorded by Jorch.   The first one shocked me, having not heard Jorch's voice for many years.  His speech sounded exactly like someone who was falling down drunk.  Of course, he's always had huge problems speaking, but this was on a whole other level from what I remembered.  It seemed as though nearly every word he spoke was badly slurred, and his cadence was quite odd.   My impression was that Jorch was drunk on his ass.

The second commercial was nearly the polar opposite of the first.  Jorch's voice was bright and clear (well, as clear as it gets for Jorch).  He wasn't slurring his words at all, and his cadence sounded completely normal.   My conclusion at the time was that this was Jorch making a commercial on a day that he wasn't chemically impaired.

Now you have me wondering if pseudo-dementia, or some other organic mental illness or disability, has a random, intermittent presentation such as I've described.

The quick answer is yes. Symptoms can wax and wane. True dementia can have reversal of damage. With pseudo dementia it could vacillate for a myriad of reasons. If one's depression lessened then one may expect some improvement in cognition.

If george does read this stuff, I would suggest a full workup. Dementia no matter what the cause is insidious and it is hardly ever first noticed by the sufferer.

I dunno to any amount of certainty. But if he were a relative or friend of mine I would suggest some testing.

No, the symptoms can vary greatly. That is true whether there is a physiological or a psychological cause.

It seems to me that george, has deteriorated in his performance over the years.

Interesting, onan.  If Jorch has undiagnosed pseudo-dementia he needs medical attention.  If Jorch is a late-stage alchoholic, he needs medical attention.   In either case, something needs to be done for him,  probably on an involuntary basis, and he needs a long vacation...or early retirement.    It's hard to imagine that PremRat, Tommy, or any powers that be at Clear Channel, are getting so much benefit from Jorch's destruction of C2C that they'd prop him up a all costs, like some kind of Michael Jackson of the airwaves.

I concur with that beyond any doubt.    Previous to these commercial spots, I hadn't listened to Jorch in probably close to ten years.  What I heard in that first commercial was many orders of magnitude beyond the worst I ever heard from him back in the day.

In most states, unless a patient is considered an imminent danger to self or others, an involuntary commitment is unlikely.

I don't think premier or george's staff have the cash cow of a Jackson or Presley. I think that they probably don't care all that much, either out of ignorance or antipathy.

To be honest i dont think Noory was all that bad when he first started. I think it was when he moved the show to L.A. and started doing it out of premier studios, the show went and shit the bed.

NoMoreNoory

Noory leads with the news that 19 firefighters lost their lives battling the wildfires in Arizona. This is 'news' that is at least 24 hours old. What is the point? Does it not really happen until Joorch tells us?

And stand by for the tale of his 10 hour journey back to St Louis from Toronto. Get ready for that.

NoMoreNoory

Which turns out to be nothing more exceptional than his flight being cancelled because of a mechanical problem. The passengers had to deplane and wait in line to be dealt with and re-routed on other flights. Annoying, but an unremarkable experience for anyone who flies regularly. But Noory - with the firefighters story still fresh in our minds - calls it 'a disaster'. A disaster? Really, Joorch? Irritation, perhaps, nothing more. Lacking a sense of proportion, possibly?

Oh, and Mommy Dearest drove up to Toronto from Detroit (with his sister: dying from cancer?). The first time his mom had had the chance to see him at 'a specialized event'. Presumably she was in the audience for the Elvis show.

Oh, and Joorch managed to blame Italy - the whole of Europe in fact - for the death of James Gandolfini!

The first guest tells a story of a monkey  who had a brain transplant back in the 70's. Then right after Jorch starts telling basically the same story and asks him about it LOL Only this time Jorch says it took place in 2010.

(walks back into the party)

Hey again everyone..

Some of you remember me from a few years ago. Good to see some of my favorites still around posting (Eddie, onan, Treading, Realcool Daddio, etc, etc).  Not intending to leave anyone out, and glad some of you are long-term contributors.  Also a few new smart folks joining the party.  I haven't been posting at all for quite a while, but have enjoyed lurking.

I could less give a shit about Noory or even Art at this point, just for some reason, I find that this forum attracts some awfully bright minds whose thoughts I enjoy.

Anyway, from my posting history, you'll see I'm insane like the rest of you sons o'bitches.

        Welcome back, Flax.

As long as Noory sucks, we shall persevere. And I'm sure an unfounded rumor about Art's return should be arriving any minute now.

Noory asked "Why is Egypt important?" What a stupid question. After countless shows about Egypt, you would think he would know the answer to that.

Immy

Nope, can't listen to this. Jorch's inanities ("Why is Egypt important?"  :o ) and Bauval's protracted "Uhhhhhhh's" have me reaching for the off button.

I don't recall anyone mentioning this particular spot for a teeth whitener.  The first time I heard it, I thought he said, "I know your ancestor's brothers will love your new bright white smile."  My ancestor's brothers?  Huh?  But after listening again, it's apparent he's mixing up words:  "I know your and sisters brothers..."  He's completely oblivious to what he's saying.

just another example of why Noory himself needs a head transplant...

It sounds to me like "I know your Aunts, sisters, brothers will love your new bright white smile..."   Still a pretty strange choice of words and grammar.

Good point.  So he's transposing words or employing terrible grammar.  HOONOZE?

LOL I think he would cry seeing this comment come from you Morgus. You are his hero after all.

It would be interesting to see how Jorch improves with a monkey brain in his melon. I sense another comic for the eye pad thread.
