According to an April 2019 article in Forbes: “The biggest winners in the Trump tax cuts were corporations and the households that get income from corporate profitsâ€" that is, the very wealthiest Americans.“

According to a May 2019 report by the Congressional Research Service (CRS), a federal agency housed within the Library of Congress: “Most of the tax cut went to businesses and higher income individuals who are less likely to spend the increases.”

In other words, their tax savings aren't being put back into the economy.

According to the Wall Street Journal, an estimated three-fourths of the increase in savings since the tax cuts took effect has benefited the wealthiest 10 percent of Americans.

The Guardian: “The 2017 Tax and Jobs Act â€" the Trump administration's one major piece of enacted legislation â€" did deliver the biggest corporate tax cut in US history, but ultimately workers benefited almost not at all. In the first three months after the bill passed, the average weekly paycheck rose by $6.21. That would be $233 a year.“

According to the nonpartisan (but liberal-leaning) Tax Policy Center, the wealthiest 20 percent of families saw their post-tax income increase by an average 2.9 percent after the cuts. Middle-income earners saw just a 1.6 percent increase.

Your source credited the doubling of the child tax credit and standard deduction as a financial boon for families. The CRS report states: “The increase in the standard deduction and child and dependent credit was roughly offset by the elimination of the personal exemption.”

Trump's tax cuts doubled the estate tax exemption from $5.49 million in 2017 to $11.18 million in 2018. This is the value of an estate before it would be subject to estate taxes. Does this sound like something that would benefit Joe Lunchbucket?

The repeal of the individual mandate did result in some savings for people without health insurance -- as long as they didn't get sick. There's a pretty high cost for not having health insurance during a medical emergency.

And what about the corporations that promised to use their tax savings to boost employee wages?

According to the Center for Public Integrity, the bulk of the corporate tax savings in 2018 went into shareholder dividends and stock buy-backs.

Per the CRS report: “Much of these funds, the data indicate, has been used for a record-breaking amount of stock buybacks, with $1 trillion announced by the end of 2018.”

Obviously, this largely benefits the wealthy, who control the majority of U.S. stock value.

Firms that spent any of their tax savings to help workers at all opted for one-time bonuses rather than wage hikes. Citing data from an organization that tracks such things, the CRS report said corporations devoted a total of $4.4 billion to worker bonuses. “With U.S. employment of 157 million, this amount is $28 per worker.”

Hardly the $4,000 pay raise that Trump said workers would get.
