I don't know if you realize this, but the Philippines IS a banana republic.  They have not achieved the level we have as far as the rule of law, a level economic playing field, education, opportunity, and all the rest that goes with a modern western country. 

They had a drug epidemic, caused by the Chinese drug gangs.  It was creating death, violence, and poverty.  Options are limited when the police are corrupt, judges are corrupt, and politicians are corrupt.  They don't have The Rule of Law as we know it.  We Americans really need to get off our high horses, stop interfering in the internal affairs of other countries, and let them decide how best to handle their own problems.  If they want our input, they'll ask.

Most third world countries are in worse condition than The Philippines, and have worse leaders.  But we should single out The Philippines because they are our allies and we have a good relationship with them?  If the people of that country don't approve, they will vote for another oligarch next time around.

I've been trying figure out why she's talking about the Philippines like it's America and what's going on there is somehow Trump's fault.  ;D

And frankly, this is just the sort of thing we are trying to prevent from happening here - a descent into Banana Republic status. 

But that's where we are heading with our borders open to Latin cartels, drug gangs, other criminals, and Islamic terrorists.  It's where we are headed with an increasingly brazen and violent Occupy/BLM/Antifa - rioting, blocking roads and bridges, and denying assess to speakers.  It's where we are heading in the attempt to overturn an election.  And it's where we are headed with the lawless judiciary openly joining forces with the Fake News Media and the ''Progressive'' Democrats and seizing powers for themselves.

So I'm wrong, the police aren't corrupt, the judges aren't corrupt, the politicians aren't corrupt.  All Duarte had to do was go arrest the Chinese drug gangs, and all the social problems they were causing would have gone away?  If that's the case, I'm wondering why he didn't start with that. 

I'm also wondering why the people of the Philippines voted for him for president if that's how he conducted himself when he was mayor, and they thought it was over the top unnecessary.

This actually made me crack up.  i'm a big Floyd fan and that is probably my favorite song of theirs.  I gather you are a bit of an anarchist.  Takes all kinds in this wonderful land called America.   I don't come here to try and convert people to my way of thinking.  It would be pointless.  People come to the politics thread with very carefully thought-out beliefs and rarely will anyone have their mind changed.  I could go into a litany of what I believe but I've already said it a few times over the years.  Search "central government' along with my name  at the top of the page.  You'll hit a few posts where I describe my beliefs.  And you know what, it would be scary if all of us believed the same things.  We all have different environmental factors that have shaped our lives and cause each if us to believe the way that we do.   We should be engaging in a fruitful discussion.  One not born from anger.

I know though.  It can be fun to shitpost sometimes but I try not to get too carried away with it or get too cruel.  I'd really like to just chat.  Not tonight though as it is my bedtime.

Weirdo, where is that? Constitution? No, again Articles of Independence (ours, not theirs though.  ::) ) But, even on the basics, you are lacking. Scary. Though- I agree natural born rights of men and it is not, as Obama posited and claimed some positive rights, and many others of his ilk have done, but natural, or by God in some thinking, natural-  not granted or created/expanded by government. Though nothing aside from this I can find, so far:

It's cute Roger thinks hes still relevant when all of his solo albums have sucked and has to leach off his Pink Floyd fame to make money touring. To be fair though all of David Gilmour's solo albums have also sucked but at least Gilmour was a nice enough to win Roger bass playing awards. Without Syd, Roger would be a homeless bum servicing glory holes.

You do know many of our govt. officials are political hacks.  They have their agendas on the left and right.  All Congressmen and Senators should go to Hillsdale and spend a semester learning Constitutional law.  Hell they have free online classes much of the time.  Of course, the left would say that the right is trying to indoctrinate them.  Whatever.

Roger Waters  probably thinks Britain should have surrendered to the Nazis.  Then his poor dad wouldn't have died. The death of his father traumatized him for life.  War sucks but the Nazis had to be defeated. I'm sorry he had to lose his father but the needs of the many outweigh the needs of a few.  It was life or death for Britain.
