OK, I know I'm gonna sound stupid and probably not for the first time here, but . . . is this a real book?!

According to Wikipedia, that vast repository of all that is knowledge, the book IS real:

"How to Avoid Huge Ships is a 1982 book by Captain John W Trimmer, an experienced small boat captain. The first edition was self-published from Trimmer's home in Seattle, and carried the subtitle Or: I Never Met a Ship I Liked. It is a maritime operations guidance book, but also attracted some attention due to its title, which some found to be unusual, incongruous, and humorous.

Intended for a specialized audience (the captains or operators of small private boats such as yachts and trawlers), the book gives advice on appropriate avoidance actions when confronted by the near presence of a large ship such as a freighter, along with anecdotes and background information such as the capabilities and operating procedures of the large ships."

Here is a site that has some real reviews mixed in with the joke reviews:

on another board (NOT glp) they were claiming chemtrail bombs in socal. weeeell there are several wildfires in socal. stop and think a minute, maybe AIRDROP OF FIRE RETARDANT? or even air drop of water? come on now.

then they present some you tube video as evidence. it looks like they took some shake video of the sky claiming the film runs at
Quote700+% of normal. to fast to catch the event

i say CGI superimposed on the clip. or its a way out of focus of the planes dropping the retardant.

I was raised an honest to goodness socialist, now somewhat of a socially liberal conservatarian. Just got finished doing some that I enjoy every year on this day- watch the MLK I Have A Dream speech. It grounds and rebalances (rekindles?) my childhood sense of civil fair play and justice. The eloquence and felt presence of the language isgoid fir my heart. To think that we all have the potential to think and speak and dream this way... Some years I weep when I watch and listen. This is one of them.

Most of us have a stirring in their heart for social justice.  I think this speaks to most of us.

I loved that show.

A good friend of mine called Art Bell had a small role.

Oh. My. God.
Yeaht that absolutely blows my mind. Part of me thinks maybe desensitizing these amazing animals to the presence of humans is a bad idea though.

This is how we rolled in the '80s, Kurtis Blow, Run DMC, The Fat Boys, pre-crack Whitney and all. :)

I generally agree with that, but in this case he raised them because they were abandoned by their mother.

A real man becomes adept at using those nifty, little hand towels.  (It's an "art").

Modoc.   ;D
You can get Phil Hendrie out there. :)
I know they have a group of California separatists up in Modoc that want to create their own state called Jefferson or something like that.
