I've done contract work for Cisco twice. It's a horrible culture of yes-men and people terrified they're going to lose their jobs.

I am in Silicon Valley and can tell where people work from there insurance cards.  I cannot recall a Cisco employee that was not Indian.   These are the regular employees.  Glad to hear they do SOMETIMES hire non-HB1 visa holders for something.  (But not much.)  Thanks for the info MV!

Mr. Duhon sounds like an angry frustrated chump to me.

I have a conversation on a les paul forum about a record that I worked on 6 years ago and now this:

I'm not really into Queensryche, but now I have to hear this record, just to hear your work.  I am in favor of artists getting paid for their work, but since you have a horse in this race, what is your call, Guild - torrent or buy the album?

Torrent that motherfucker hard and leave it running for the next ten years. I didn't make a red cent on that after it came out and I probably never will. Actually I think I lost money when that thing came out because I wanted to own a copy of my own work.

Roger Wilco.

Btw, Ian did a show back in February about the Wrecking Crew, session artists who worked on a shitload of albums, including working for Phil Spector.
Not sure if you are an Ian fan, but that show would probably be in your wheelhouse.

analog kid

It's my understanding that lots of acts have session players who record most of the album. This is true of early Motley Crew, and "Twisted Sister," as the guitarist was so worthless that he couldn't do one adequate solo take. Jimmy Page was a session player before he formed Zeppelin.

tl;dr: Session players, which would include guild, are bad asses.

The Wrecking Crew were the shit. They did a record with a guy who was later abducted by aliens in the desert. I'd bet coast has done a show about him too. Jim Sullivan. His record is all about going off into the desert and disappearing, UFOs, and other strange stuff.

Come to think of it, I wonder if I heard of Sullivan from something Coast related... cant remember.

I'll check out that Ian show thanks! Thanks for the compliment Analog! If only I could form MY zeppelin...

BobGrau

Yeah, coast did a first-hour segment about Sullivan within the last couple of years, which introduced me to one of my favourite songs -

Jim Sullivan - Jerome

I suspect poor Jim was a victim of "hippie in the South" syndrome.

I've got a fever, and the only prescription...

...is more turtle

I am guessing that Coast to Coast AM will shamelessly exploit the Aurora theater tragedy by having conspiracy theorists come on the show and blame it on the U.S. government.  It certainly wouldn't be the first time they have exploited tragedy as entertainment for the unbalanced.

It occurs to me that one could argue that we, in fact, are exploiting said tragedy by mentioning it in such a way to disparage the show we all love to hate.

Maybe I'm off base here, but just sayin'.

ziznak

Nah see we are exploiting C2C's exploitation of the aurora theater shooting... get yer exploiting straight.

Oh yeah, has anybody here gotten their kindle fire to run android games n apps from the app store.  Just curious... you can basically turn a kindle into a tablet... a friend of mine asked me to look into it and let me borrow their kindle for a few days.  Touch screen games are so much better when you have a tablet size screen.  I want one now...

if you are thinking about an android tablet, the ONLY one you should consider is the google nexus 7... and that's assuming you're comfortable with the 7" form factor, which many people are, myself included.

ziznak

I only talk to domesticated animals since they kinda understand English... Dogs n cats mostly... wild animals you have to talk to in their own tongue... squirrels like to be "clicked" at... they will take food out of your hand and I find them to be mostly congenial little rodents.  Just don't let one in your house ow man!

Ian Punnett will then bring a guest who says "this is not a conspiracy." The guest will confirm the facts and debunk all of the crap that Noory's guests spell out.

The Kindle Fire is an android tablet, with full support for the android market out of the box. All the other Kindle models are e-ink displays.

It's Amazon's android market though, and not Google's. Think there's some tight restrictions on it, to keep you sandboxed into Amazon's marketplace.

everyone should buy the $200 nexus 7 if you're considering an android tablet.

Know absolutely nothing about Google's upcoming tablet, but the price is definitely right.

The Kindle Fires sold well, but according to internet traffic stats, hardly anyone is using theirs anymore, for whatever reason.

i think that definitely won't be the case with the nexus 7.  it is a game changer as far as android tablets are concerned.

I used the "kindle fire utility" to get around that amazon sandbox crap... initially I was trying to use "super one click" which I've used to root anything android so far but it wouldn't root a kindle.  I'm actually going to be setting up a few of these for a friends wife n kids so he let me borrow one... I've had it almost a week now and I kinda don't want them to call for the work lol... Screw reading books on the kindle you know they really made it for "fruit ninja" allll day.
