I know, I've been driving around all day buying cans of sardines from convience stores one at a time, so as not to tip off the "hobo elite."

Due to the urgency of the COVID-19 public health emergency and imminent rapid progression of the pandemic in our area, the regional partners: Jackson County, Missouri; Johnson County, Kansas; Kansas City, Missouri and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas will jointly announce details of orders for residents to stay home except for essential needs.

It is sort of surreal, Kansans and Proud Missourians on the same page like that...  Still, fuck Johnson Countians, they need to stay in their own county.  I will allow WyCo honorary Missouri citizenship, subject to revocation for driving like asses.

I guess the beach was crowded. They shut down more beaches there today too because people were flocking to them.
States are shutting their borders too, which is a really weird thing to see - probably unprecedented since Australia unified. AFL just got cancelled until the end of May.

A few days ago the ABC ran an opinion piece that was harping on about how India's faring againt the coronavirus, and how the developed world should be following their example. Now you're starting to see things on the BBC etc about how India is shutting down the Mumbai rail network and cases are rising rapidly/underreported.

Seems like just yesterday that I was reading stories about how universities there were giving Chinese students large hunks of cash to help them avoid the travel restrictions.

Probably a month ago now. I saw something the other day though that universities were meeting foreign students at the airport at the 11th hour before our borders closed to non citizens to assist them or whatever, and the number of students was still large.

Prime Minister just announced this a few hours ago:

Licensed clubs, pubs, cinemas, casinos, nightclubs and places of worship to close from midday tomorrow. Restaurants and cafes will be restricted to takeaway service only. Schools will remain open.

Closures could continue for six months.

He directly blamed the crowds at Bondi Beach for it, and also that a lot of people have come from overseas and not quarantined themselves for 14days (and have caused confirmed virus cases).
