Hmm, sharing.  I have always had some sort of 'communication' with spirits(?).  Mostly family.  After my mom died my sister told me that she had told her she always thought I could feel and hear things but didn't want to.

I also had some sort of ufo sighting (my first) over a month ago coming home from  Houston one night.

Shared.
Also my sympathies on losing your mom

I have seen the pictures of ice crystals taken in Japan that grow in different shapes, seemingly influenced by different types of music.

Right! That's what it was, I think. Good memory!  :)

No, was that in the "I'm watching/just watched"  thread, or was that a homework assignment that I overlooked?
lol Neither as far as I know. But I think you would really like it

Interesting.  It definitely sounds like you are picking up on something.  I didn't have those feelings at Gettysburg.  The atmosphere was unusual but I never felt dread there.  What is interesting is that there are a lot of adjacent private plots of land that were part of the battlefield but the owners held on to the property and passed it down. Did you just feel it only in the actual park or did you have the feeling when driving on some roads close the park?  Sounds like you felt what my wife felt at the St. Augustine Lighthouse.

I couldn't even get myself to go near there. Sometimes I would pack up, and then just unpack. Once I started driving up there and had to turn around. It just freaked me out.

Couldn't they get crabs and such to build what they want?

Nope, they'll just be people locked in terrible bodies getting eaten by sharks for millions of years. Being a dolphin in the future will be a hell of bleak hopelessness until evolution catches up and gives them thumbs. All happening under the indifferent eye of humans, who will just say "meh, it's natural".

You are talking about the movie, correct?

Which do I watch first?  That or the X-files?

Oh, you are not done sharing friend... Did you make a report on your sighting?  Details are expected.
No, I'm an awful person I didn't report it.  I keep looking at reports and waiting for someone else to report it.

My sister was with me and doesn't want to talk about it anymore.

Have you seen "What the Bleep Do We Know?" TigerLily recommendation

You might want to be careful about this one TigerLily - that film misrepresents quantum mechanics on all kinds of key points, most notably as purported support for the filmmaker's crazy ideas about a mystical link between consciousness and the manifestation of reality (which, if you think about it, is an incredibly self-centered perspective...the universe was doing just fine long before we magnificent humans rose up out of the brackish slime, and will do just fine after some bellowing retard presses the red button).

Made it out to Gettysburg on a class field trip in 5th grade. Been wanting to make it back. Always had a draw to the Civil War time period, I remember checking out books about it from the library as far back as 2nd grade. The pics facinated me, the faces were so haunting. There was a thicker book that had full color artist renderings of battles, probably checked that one out once a month.

Are they pretty open to investigations at these sites?

Well the part of the battlefield where we actually tried the ghostbox was privately owned and the owner had given permission.

You are technically not supposed to be in the park during the middle of the night but I kinda broke the rules.  There were no patrolling cars and I spent a couple of nights checking the place out usually getting back to the hotel by 3 AM.

One of the most unusual stories I've heard about Gettysburg is the one Michael Medved, the talk show host,  tells.  He was hitchhiking with a friend in the late 60's across the USA and they decided to camp illegally on the Gettysburg battlefield.  He and his friend woke up at 4 AM to find a whole battalion of soldiers banging their drums and marching past them.  The soldiers paid no attention to Medved and his friend and continued on. Obviously, they freaked out and later they checked to see if there were any reenactors in the park.  Nope.  My guess is that since the soldiers didn't react to them, they were a residual haunting or an imprint from time.  Medved, if you know him is highly skeptical of many things paranormal like UFO's but he believes in ghosts.  Yes, indeed.

My wife and I fell in love with Gettysburg and want to return there soon.

Gettysburg gave me weird vibes. I went there maybe 3-4 years ago and while I enjoyed the historical part of things, the human part of me just felt like getting the hell out of there. The town itself is quite nice though.

She kept on wanting to go back to the Lighthouse but once we got there she'd tell me to turn around and go back to the condo.

Hi Chronaut. Very nice to see you, Buzzkill.  TigerLily still recommends the movie and suggests watch with healthy skepticism.  Still love ya

I understand what you're saying my time traveling friend but even though reductive materialism is persuasive idealism is not so easily dismissed if examined. Consciousness is the one thing we know exists for sure. I think therefore I am is the starting line for any further understanding. I think some of us are just trying to explore how these things could be true from a perspective beyond dualism, where we're not thinking of consciousness and matter as two different things necessarily.

Hey Cronaut!!! Missed ya dude

Thanks GS - I dropped by and noticed that my favorite gabbers were at it so it seemed an opportune moment to poke my head in.  Suddenly realizing that sounded dirty, lol.

I'm sitting here listening to MitD downloads as I work on stuff, and it occurred to me that Heather hasn't eased up with the "entertainer voice" yet.  I hope she'll just chill out and sit back and -talk to us like people-.  That's the only thing that bugs me about her show, but it's important because it sounds patronizing, like she's talking to children.  Or am I the only one who feels that way?

Anyway I hope you all are having a good time around here; it's good to see humans back in the driver's seat, in this thread at least ;

About two weeks ago her voice changed noticeably, and was more conversational. She might be slipping back a little.
