20150719 - Art Bell Open Lines Test Show - Live Chat Thread

Started by MV/Liberace!, July 19, 2015, 12:33:56 PM

Art, you realize that was mostly FANTASTIC, and just a little FUBAR.  Let your tech folk work the tech overnight (Hi Keith!) and break a leg (but not the interwebs) tomorrow.  Love your Midnight!

I've heard tests go a lot worse. I feel okay about the future.

Sell your Skype stock now.

Thailand has a bit of notoriety when it comes to old, fat, white males from USA, UK,and Canada etc, and what they seek (generally severely underage prostitutes, some with dicks.).  It's bad enough that I am pretty comfortable publically demanding to know their business in Thailand.

Japan.....does not have this issue.   Japan can be quirky, but they are not Thailand.  So not sure where you were taking the creepy thing...

There are huge communities of expats from Europe (especially Germans) who live in Northeast Thailand.

Packets were just dropped.

If that 5ghz connection over the mountain is subjected to an electrical storm.... it can behave like that.

Just so I'm not taken as completely negative, this is still miles better than Noory.

If the weather is what's to blame, Art should be good for the rest of the week, should one be inclined to believe the forecast.

good call TazarYoot  when i called in when art was on Sirius i asked Art to tell his Ouija Board story and he chickened out then as well ;)

Yeah I was hoping after all these years he may have decided to share, but its looking more and more like he may take that tale to the grave!

TV remotes use "the brick" over a 4G LTE connection.  I'd say that (at least output) could be backed up that way.  So, in theory, Art could go strictly by landline with a guest and then pipe the final product up via the brick.

Humm, Dark Matter just did a quick dropout on this post-Art show.

Since his ISP is via microwave -- any rain will cause interruption in service because it will block the signal. Just like satellite TV starts tiling up and loses picture during heavy rain. Maybe Art needs a hardwired ISP for backup??

Its freak weather this time of year.  After tomorrow afternoon the weather should clear out for the foreseeable future. He can work on that for a bit before winter weather comes around.

Everything goes to hell in the beginning, we just don't usually see "behind the curtain" if you will.

All will be well, it's all new and it's gonna be rough initially.

The magic is STILL there, it will be ok.

Appreciated seeing the mis-dialed calls to Antioch. That's only about 30 minutes from my house

Xandre

Content was solid, I'm not sure there wasn't some weirdness going on (like a targeted attempt). On a certain level what Art is doing is ev(rev)olutionary. Self directed largely non corporate mega scale media. I'm sure their are many interests that want this to fail. BTW Who/what is DAVE?

Right. He didn't even mention redacted. Oh well. This is a test. Only a test.
My thought is that Art got bothered by the technical issues. He's got to be sweating bullets right now. Lots of pressure. Test, yes.

I'm a technician myself, and I would highly recommend a hard wired feed, cable.. or even an ISDN line to where ever Keith streams the show from.
Microwave is just too shaky sometimes.

Stephen

actually - you want stuff to break during a test... overall a good ring-out...

The forecast for Monday for Pahrump and the entire Vegas area is more thunderstorms.

I tried all night on Skype and the landline to get in. Landine would ring 40-50 times after awhile would hang up or be busy the next time I tried it.
Skype would ring and periodically disconnect the minute it started ringing.
Art needs electronic Raid or something to get the bugs out or some system impervious to the effects of thunderstorms.

Is it possible at this point that is has had such a build up, that he is afraid to tell it because it is fairly minor?

Art won't answer calls from Pittsburgh.

I'll give you as many guesses as you'd liek to figure out why.

One of the best calls, IMO.

Who/what is DAVE?

Originally, George registered for this site under the name "Dave Noory" if I am correct.  Kinda an inside joke, he's referred to as "Dave" as somewhat of I guess I'd call it schoolyard humor.
