Thank you so much!! Please, more people email siriusxm here and tell them that we can't wait formless new shows!

listenercare@siriusxm.com

I did send Sirius an e-mail.  I told them that although I am currently only a trial subscriber, I will sign a one year contract if they pursue civil legal action against Art Bell.

I'll join you, but this time I'll bring my own damned Kool-Aid.

Fruit drinks smelling of bitter almonds are the only ones I serve at Casa de Coyle.

You know that scene in Goodfellas, where De Niro is on the pay phone outside the diner? And he's told "he's gone...and there's nuthin' we could do about it!"        It's like that.

Art told us to go get our shine boxes.

DM had a decent number of subscribers, but the majority of listeners were listening to pirated copies of the show, after DM aired. AB also hinted (on Thursday, I believe) that subscribers were dropping off. This was a problem because there simply weren't enough callers for a healthy show (lots of repeat callers, and probably much fewer Halloween ghost stories than AB would have hoped for). This explains AB's interest in Skype as a way to get a wider variety of voices on air. All of that led to AB's insistence that DM should be opened up to the world for free with revenue coming from advertisements. I think SXM would have accepted this, even though it conflicts with their standard business model, but they had to decline because of the fear that many other hosts would demand the same opportunity. Going forward, with a new studio, no non-compete, and his marketing infrastructure in place, I think there's a good chance we'll soon see AB broadcasting online. I welcome that and I do not harbor any ill-will toward Art for doing what he thinks is the best for his show and his listeners.

Cheerup!  Wanna Take a Ride?  There are still My Little Pony Rides.  Also, Mr. Noory's cookbook is being released tomorrow, and a new recipe has just been added, straight off of the presses:

Art's Stew

Start with a Sirrius base at $14.95.
Throw in cup of lard (Mr. Noory sitting down)
A touch of sugar (It was so sweet to hear you again for the short time Mr. Bell)
Add a mixture of turmeric and diced turkey (That was added to please you Mr. Noory)
Heat to an angry boil (Mr. Noory's reaction to Mr. Bell taunts and vice versa)
Cool down with some cold shit (Created with the cold shoulder from Mr. Bell)
Serve on your fans in heaps (Here's to Mr. Bell)
A second helping will not be served here Mr. Bell

A truckload is being served at Premiere this evening and the bowls are being licked up by the producers.

I got this odd feeling after the question of if the government would pass the budget or not.  He was really upset about this, and as well as said that he was going back to the Philippines.  Even after it was passed, I could tell he was still probably contemplating it.  Also, all the talk about the radiation coming here, and the radiation waste that was being dumped around where he lived.  Also, there was that time recently where he talked about how the people in the Philippines are happy, even when going through bad times.  And when he got the spider bite something about it making him want to climb a highrise apartment.  Isn't that what he lives in in the Phillipines?  And I swore that I heard him mention a few times on the air something to the effect that he was homesick for the Philippines.  So, I can't say as I'm that surprised, although I am very deeply sad about it all.  I do sincerely wish him well.

And then again, if this has all just been about negotiations and business, and he does find some other way to do it, no one will be happier than me.

Emailing Sirius is as pointless as trying to teach Noory how to use a microwave.

it was already made apparent to the audience by the fact that they couldn't listen to the show in a proper fashion, as evidenced by the incessant stream complaints.  if keeping it out of sight and out of mind was a concern, they should have fixed the issues.  they didn't.  show's over.

Maybe some time would help? Maybe constantly not making requests would help? Maybe not acting like a spoiled primadonna would have helped.

I listened with the android app. I use Bluetooth and ran it through an LG sound bar. The only issue I had was when the whole show cut off last week.

Furthermore, with the invent of social media, the lines between radio host and fans are a lot more blurred. You don't just tune in and listen anymore. People feel they have a connection with people like Art.   The angry posts here the last few hours is an example of this.

You can't just quit and disable your FB page and not expect those most loyal to you not to feel betrayed.

Your audience makes or breaks you. His fans are pissed and the record number of forum members logged in tonight is evidence his fans are upset as hell.

Anyone going back to Sonic?   I'm dying for a diet cherry Coke.

Just found out about this tonight. Guess I am stuck with a contract to XM/SIRIUS.

Fuck you Art Bell. Fuck you. You just killed your entire audience's tolerance for your bullshit in one move. I will never give you another chance, and fuck your past shows too. This is such epic bullshit. You wouldn't have an audience now even if you could muster a venue. You fucked your fans, and this will not be forgiven.

I cannot read this entire thread through my veil of tears so can someone simply answer me this?: Is Art Bell going to continue his show via his website and stream it free etc? Is he only ending the show on SIRIUS, but is not ending it completely since he will continue on with it on his website nightly? For free?

So in other words being batshit crazy is to blame?

On an episode of Dark Matter, Art mentioned that he didn't like to be thought of as a serial retiree. Yet, here we are not long after, and Dark Matter is over. Sure, there could be more going on right now, but choosing to do it this way is the absolute worst way of doing it, all things considered. Just to address a streaming issue.... Even if this is "just business", it's not very well done at all. Piss poor in fact

Do we know for sure that there's not a non-compete clause in his contract?

For those interested, someone on the Art Bell.com Facebook posted this:
"Just got off the phone with sirius to cancel my subscription i made sure to tell them the art bell show being taken off was the reason i canceled my subscription. For those of you that are interested sirius will refund prorated for canceling your subscription."

I'm so disgusted I literally feel nauseous. I've been listening to Art since I was 10 years old and really respected him, but he lost a lot of that today. I hope this isn't a game he is playing. If it's over, I want it to be over. Playing with fans' emotions really isn't cool. His only option now is self-broadcast/podcasting. No one will ever hire him again. I almost feel bad for Sirius (even though they suck). They spent a lot of money on him and he lasts like 6 weeks? Disgusting. The problem wasn't that bad. There was no need for this. The worst part is how good this must make Dave feel. This all feels so high-school.

i can't really respond to this other than to say you have no personal knowledge of what's happened behind the scenes between art bell and siriusxm.

What a wicked game to play, Art, to make me feel this way.   :'(

He hasn't said anything. Only thing we know is he is no longer doing Dark Matter. I would temper expectations, but who knows.

Anybody who thinks Noory is happy, think again.
He's probably shitting himself right now. Art's in radio mode, and contracts (Noory's) mean nothing these days. He knows PremRat would drop him in a New York minute if Art even farted in their direction.

Sirius couldn't handle Art Bell. That's the bottom line.
He'll be back. I bet his phone is ringing now.

I just had four hot dogs and 12 rolls of cheap sushi.  Oh, and a whole can of Brisk tea.

Please. This isn't about radiation or government shutdowns. Art came back out of anger, and when that stopped being enough to motivate him he looked for the quickest way out - by making a demand that he knew full well SiriusXM could not fulfill. And now he's gone. I would be shocked if we ever hear from him again. I'm guessing it's back to the Phillippines and a life of relative anonymity.

So he had to build a listener base, and didn't want to do that?

This is precisely how one would expect a petulant child to act. He has played the "I'm taking my ball and going home" card for the last time with me. He's a 68 year old infant and he cost himself dearly.
