I would go to Vegas for it.

Yep Vegas would be a natural location for ArtBellCon.
Somebody grab up the domain  thingie for it.

Lets start talking it up and see if it'll get any traction.

This is a bad idea and here 's the place to make it worse-

In the Uk? Several times.. I think the precedent was a University professor who was libeled on a forum (may have been a chat room) and won. The forum host was held liable as well as the offender. As far as I recall he received substantial damages and an apology.

That makes sense, but he wouldnt be enough of a public figure in the US. I would guess he would be treated as a private citizen and afforded protection from libel and slander. Public figures dont fare well in the US. They are pretty much open season, with few restriction. I dont understand why they arent more protected myself.

I don't know about an amusing porter old man, but I'm tempted to imbibe a cheeky little Pinot Noir.

I am not drinking any fucking Pinot Noir!

It should be in the desert.  Call it Yearning Man.  We can burn large effigies of Noory and other Dark Dipshits.   ;)

Yeah a George Noory look alike in a dunk tank. Sink snoory

It was a private civil prosecution and not criminal law. (I may have over stated it mentioning arrest in this context)..But if someone for example made some, shall we say 'security relevant threats' on Fartbook or twatter, they'd be getting attention from Inspector Knacker of the Police. A case is currently going through court where some silly young man allegedly made a threat to attack a school and kill the kids.. Hurting someones feelings can be libel; making threats can be criminal and that's the basic difference.

It'd be a success, as long as it's ab Art Bell Dark Matter sponsored production. Art headlines it with various guests giving seminar talks, some live webcasting, etc.

A couple of days on some weekend in the Spring 2014 in Las Vegas.

But, truly, if producer Paul and Keith step up to help organize it, along with Art at the center of the shindigs, then it's going to be a smash event.

I'd fucking catch a plane and spend a few hundred to hang out in Vegas for "Art Bell's Dark Matter Convention".

;D

It's a quotation from the movie Sideways, YP.  It is true, however, that my tastes run... to the exotic.*

(Another quote from a film now two decades old.)

Sounds like a fun time, I'd go. And I bet you not one person would talk shit about another man's wife, girlfriend, son or daughter to their face in person!!!!!
The hell with all this freedom of speech/first ammendment talk, theres no need to make it soo complicated. Its really common sense, if you would not disrespect another man's wife in person to his face, then don't be a coward and do it on a message board. Fricken COMMON SENSE!

What the hell?

I've had nothing but awesome experiences with British subjects.   But that type of stuff just makes me angry and hate the queen.

So will ArtBellCon 2014 be held in Las Vegas or Pahrump?

Either.  They both have plenty of hookers and escorts.

Pahrump has Brothels though.

I vote Pahrump.

If I'm going to vegas it isn't to hang out with you guys.  I'll be banging away at ladies of the night.   You guys can come too if you'd like, I don't care.

The uni professor wasn't too happy either being libeled. I'm sure it will be online somewhere, but some quite nasty things were said about him as I recall. It was treated the same way it would be if published in a newspaper or book. The Queen was innocent in it too..poor cow gets blamed for alsorts of things that she's blameless for.

MikeJ

If Noory can get a couple hundred people to pay money to listen to him ramble, then we should be able to gather up a few thousand to attend ABDM Con.

Pharumph also has a great race track.  Lets go drive fast!

Here's Pahrump's Tourism Website:

http://www.visitpahrump.com/

Tarmac, maybe you can spearhead this whole thing. What would the schedule of daily events look like? Will there be speakers? What type of activites to facilitate the "group building" amongst Art Bell fans? Or will everybody just go there seperate ways in vegas and go drink and gamble?

I would say Vegas.

Think about it: Art already has weird people driving by his home. Do we need to bring a concentrated amount of weird people near where he lives?

Well stay close then; don't lift your head above the parapet; don't poke the right wingers (much), stay calm, and be kind to West of the Rockies, Onan, and a few others..they're the good guys. You're a Yorkshireman (I assume you're male), you know better to admit you finally got the balls; Tsk... We're tough as old boots...sometimes.  :)

Assumption wrong!!!!!! my wellies are green whatever that means. Ta for the welcome Yorkshire Pud. BTW that's the first thing I eat when I go home.

Littlechris,

Thanks, but I do believe that any convention really needs to be an official Art Bell sponsored event.

I've never organized anything of this size, but with all the world at our googling fingertips, I'm sure anyone could figure it out.

If bookings of guests were to happen, then money needs to be promised, contracts drawn up, etc. Also, someone working for Art would have to be the one to do all that.

It's a lot of legwork, I imagine, and nearly a full time job...at least for a few weeks...just to get it going. Then, there'd have to be the attendees, willing to fork over a good chunk of change to attend it, as well as pay for their own hotel rooms, airfare, etc.
