Good show. Maybe the best so far. Eddie is getting better and better. It reminds me of bands I used to be in when I was younger. Each individual contributes their own portion to the overall sound but soon a gestalt identity is produced, a Total Sound, that is the sum of all the parts. Yet more. You guys are working toward that overall identity IMO. And it's good that individually you are quite unique, not like anyone else in the group.

Eddie's (and Onan's) position is the same as mine. In fact, a few days ago (after listening to an archive about EVPs) I posted about how odd it is that an EVP could have reverb.

Onan: I agree with your overall position on the ambiguity of artifacts (human speech being attributed to extraneous noises, etc) but (and maybe you haven't heard this type yet) I have also heard EVPs that are unambiguously human voices. Usually a child. Often with room echo. And these are the kind I feel shout "hoax" to me. Now, as Jaz posits, we don't know how a "ghost" might interface with us from beyond. Maybe the "voice" they project onto a digital recorder includes the full simulation of human speech including breathiness, room echo, etc but usually the simplest answer is generally the correct one. lex parsimoniae aka Occam's Razor

I had to laugh when Eddie was playing that EVP where the mysterious voice spoke, clear as a bell, the time it was recorded.

Another explanation that you guys didn't mention is if the person didn't use a fresh media there might be bleed-through from a previous recording. That had occurred to me in the past… before I finally decided it's not a legit phenomenon.

Oh, and another response to one of Onan's points about how he would be more convinced by a less ambiguous "message" (EG, "tell my aunt at 215 Main St that I love her and miss her") the departed might not be fully functional or cognizant and only project fragmentary impressions. Like our subconscious dream-self. In fact, the phenomenon suggest to me that the imprinted voices on the media might well be projections from the subconscious mind of the people recording the session. In a spooky place they are already predisposed to eerie ghostly goings-on. What if the human subconscious psyche were capable of some sort of mental/emotional leakage or over-modulation that could imprint a nearby electronic media.

Very interesting point about the expectations of the EVP investigator. A POV I've never considered. I've recorded hundreds of hours of audio, never once have I captured an evp by chance. When I brought this point up to an evp hunter I had an exchange with, they suggested that evps will not usually occur unless you are actively hunting for them.
If capturing an evp indeed depends on expectation of the person(s) looking for them, one could deduce that consciousness could play some role.

Consciousness & the mind is a complex system that I don't pretend to understand.  I do believe we, call it the soul or conscious energy, continues after the physical body dies. What happens before we are born or after we die is a mystery. Perhaps we are not capable, or meant to understand this with any amount certainty during our physical journey on earth.. Maybe the laws of physics are applied differently to the conscious energy we become, that prevents any meaningful cross-talk between the two worlds.

One thing is for certain, if I die first, I'm going to evp the shit out of jazmunda,onan & b_dubb!

great point made in the last Gabcast .. who brings up George Noory when talking about paranormal talk show hosts?

Off the top of my head, I think of Howard Hughes (the Unexplained) ,  Jim Harold ( Paranormal Podcast) , and the Aussie guys running Mysterious Universe.  All great hosts, with a serious interest in things paranormal.

Noory never comes up in conversation.

Yes. Interesting. Possibly each of our individual selves is a manifestation of a singular Source Self (all energy/matter) and at birth, the physcial self is born, develops, matures and dies whereupon the inner spark returns to the source.

In this paradigm all energy/matter is a subset of that Source. So EvPs would be amorphous nonintegrated noncorporeal fragments of Universal Source.

In my previous posit about possible  subconscious origins of EVP phenom there are similarities to Poltergeist activity (where studies suggest its source is the subconscious psyche of an adolescent in the house) and even Ouija Board phenomena (where the planchette moves by the activiation of the autonomic nervous system [and muscles] which are controlled by the users' subconscious).
