How is it that Art ends up with coherent callers without using a call screener and other hosts end up with cat ladies and amateur atheists ?  I somehow feel "lighter" listening to this.

There's that 1/10th of a ring at first to make your heart skip a beat, then the busy signal.  I'm calling Art Bell! It's not just any busy signal, it's Art freakin Bell's busy signal.

ah! but you're underestimating the amount of truckers who have moved over to sat radio.  they find that it's better than having to search for a decent station every new town.   

I will add to that the fact that a number of truckers who I meet are intelligent and thoughtful.  some are dumb as a rock, but I would say a full 15% are among the brightest people you will find if you take the time to listen.  With any luck, it is just this portion who will call in.

i feel that the only legit answer to this is that the screeners don't want anyone on air that would pose a challenge to snoory

So is this how the calls in work? The phone rings for 20 rings and then hangs up and you have to try again. You have to be very lucky for him to pick up during those 20 rings. It's kinda like the lottery.

Yeah, my guess is to time your calls in as quickly as you can from when a caller hangs up. That's the best way to get on.

Washing dishes and sprucing the place up a bit tonight while I listen, it's hard to explain, but it feels so natural listening that it's like he never left.  As if I've been listening every night all along. 

Then I'll stop and remember this is actually the first time in a long time.

Btw, couldn't help dropping in on a certain other radio show at 1am ET. A certain other 'radio show host' began his show by welcoming Art back to the airwaves. Even went so far as saying his new show is on Sirius. (Cue the sound of several thousand radios clicking off and subscriptions to Sirius being taken out.) He then went on to talk about a shooting in DC. Thank God he's telling the world about that, because it really hasn't been covered anywhere else, has it?

       First time, in a very long time, that it feels Art has his show back. Even during his weekend gig on C2C, things had changed with the Noorification, so Art seemed like a visitor.
