Has Art ever had Neil Degrasse Tyson on before(C2C)? He would make an excellent guest.

Good God let's hope not. He's a wretchedly smug bore, who dumbs everything down for the Sesame Street Crowd. Zero charisma, that dude. Sorta like Kaku, except with a chip on his shoulder about something. There are so many working scientists - rather than public figures - who would make brilliant and better guests.

There it is Crystal Gayle... Midnight in the desert.
Compare "Midnight in the Desert"  with Noory's closing song on Friday nights - UFO Phil.
That says it all!

He's fun on the Daily Show and television circuit, but I think you're right that he's not a good fit for DM.

Was beyond wonderful to hear Art live on the air tonight!  I feel like all my missing him and wishing he'd come back was finally answered.  So odd and nice to have a dream come true.  And didn't he sound great?  His voice sounded better than ever and he's sharper than a tack.  You'd think he'd just been off air for a week, no sign of staleness or awkwardness to his delivery whatsoever.  And the audio quality was impressive:  far better than AM radio.  That was a surprise and a treat.

Everything was perfect.  I'm on cloud nine.  Thanks, Art!  Stay as long as you can this time, or at least as long as you're still enjoying it.  Ten years sounds good.

The only thing I didn't like about the Sirius stream tonight was the ads are twice the loudness of the show.
It blasts out my ears until I can skip past them.
I sure hope somebody records the shows, edits out the ads, and provides the mp3 file for downloading the next day.

Did you get your Kindle Fire tablet to play the shoutcast stream OK, Ravenna?

It is different than 10 years ago. Now one line can actually branch into multiple lines. His 800 number probably has 20 - 30 lines connected now. Actually was probably easy 10 years ago.

It was easy thirty years ago when I worked in telemarketing. Decades-old tech, now certainly a cinch thanks to digital blah blah blah.

I really appreciate your empathy, Eddie. Being the eternal lurker, I closely followed your roving reportage last April. It certainly crossed my mind today. There's an almost sickly calm in the air now that it's all over, and the marauding shooters of this afternoon have faded into the rumor mill. It was a small and helpless feeling to be tucked safely away while care flights hovered overhead to assist those whose lives would never be the same. I prefer to gather perspective at the aquarium, but real life arrived in spades today.

WOTR, you described the feeling of lightness after listening to Art so well. The giddiness that I awoke with turned to a much heavier heart as the day wore on, but I am all the more grateful to be here, gathered around this campfire. Thank you for the warm welcome. I've admired so many of you for so long, and am downright tickled to hear from you. The clock just struck my birthday, and to hear Art, Ross, and Some Velvet Morning back together again ... well, I feel like I've already been granted my wildest wish! Thank you each and every one.

Happy Birthday, good timing! But here's what makes Art's return even better after a day like today. Art will provide/attempt a form of escapism from real world horror. Noory and Wells only serve to either dwell on it or even worse have "guests" who will tell you that this shooting was a "false flag" or staged event. Which will be coming soon on C2C. "What happened to the other shooters" being some grand theory they'll build around. Ugh.

Fun thread tonight!  26 pages in 4 hours, Wow!

I think that during the show we produced almost 800 posts.
It has been great fun. Looking forward to more.

This allllll made me miss cigarettes so very much.

I know the feeling. It's why I started up again last month.

That and the terminal illness diagnosis.

WTF? Kaku is the new Ed Dames. Kill shots, suitcase nukes...

Kaku's a dolt. Anyone who so frequently uses Star Trek for scientific analogies is just... a dolt. Kinda like using The Twilight Zone for -- hey, wait a minute --

Thank you so very much, Lava Filling! What a birthday present tonight was.

Yeah happy birthday and welcome aboard the errr...board.

There really isn't anyone who knows what the caller was talking about who said something happened with  George a week ago that upset Art?  That was a very strange exchange and would definitely like to understand what it was about.

Ah, thank you.  I noticed Oates was on recently though I didn't listen to the show because I feel about G like most here.  I remembered Art banning him many years ago (which I was okay with because not even Art could really make that guy interesting to me) and thought it was strange he was back around.

It's 1:10 am, listening to Art Bell, and there's a lightning storm outside.  This is bliss.

I wonder if one day SiriusXM would/could ever buy Art's old shows... an entire channel dedicated to Art Bell is something the world needs. I wonder what the asking price would be.

If they just wait until George gets coast to coast cancelled and replaced with an Alex jones type show I'm sure premiere would sell the old shows.  Profit is profit to those scum bags.

I still can't believe they treated Art that way. I don't blame him for semi retiring.

Glad he got the truth out, hopefully it will help him to move on and feel better.

I really, really want this to be some of your patented black humor, Eddie. The whole being born is a terminal illness thing? I hope. Gulp. Cuz we're gonna need you here for quite a while.

Ditto on the cigs, folks.

Lol. All these callers doing their JC impressions are hilarious.

Not listening to the show right now (much as I'd love too, though) but no, this sounds awful. Always hated JC.

Gosh, I hope it sinks fast. It's really not C2C. I don't know what show Dave is running. They should just change the name. Portals to Portal or Could it be Angels? with Dave Noory.

It broke my heart and made my blood boil hearing how premier just disregarded Art and his situation. Art didn't lose his hosting abilities, he was uncomfortable working under people who didn't have his back. They just stabbed him in it. Frankly I wouldn't feel like putting my best foot forward for some creeps like that to profit either.

He already returned to iconic form. He's doing Dark Matter his way, answering to no one and we all benefit  8)

I never got JC either, but it was funny having 2 or 3 callers in a row start by addressing him as 'Mr Bell' in voices that were pretty close to JCs.  Especially the first one because it was supposed to be the last caller with a question for Kaku before he had to go, and I could almost hear Art cringing.

The best part though was none of them actually were JC.

Yup, my humor may possibly qualify me for reparations. I'm afraid to say good things about anything out of some fear of being a jinx...but mock my mortality without fear. I hope DSM VI is covering that topic. Considering the miserable toad I can be...sure thing I reach 99 with ease.

I didn't even try.  I didn't want to take on trying to do too much, with all the excitement, so I just listened on Sirius.  I'll try the shoutcast stream with tomorrow's show.
