I don't know what Art is reading at the moment..  this thread, another.. I hate the thought of him seeing all the BS being posted here, because it doesn't help him or his family. It's just all a bunch of ridiculous hot air- but it is our way of venting frustration over a situation that doesn't seem to be under anyone's control- especially not under Art's.  There's no doubt he loves what he does, and I feel bad that he can't do it. I also feel bad that he feels he needs to post in defense of his actions on his FB page. 

Mr. Bell, if you're reading this, thank you for making so many of us care about the topics you've brought to the mic night after night.  I hope to hell this nut leaves you alone and that you can go on with your life- you and your wife and kiddo, who all deserve more than this.

I think the ship could be saved completely if Art just releases a statement saying he's taking a break for an indeterminate short period of time to address this situation, he made some rash decisions out of panic and that he'll back soon.

Yeah he lost an affiliate and looks like a disgraced loon right now but this could be overcome pretty easily if he wanted it to be. If he left for a week or two, did what he needed to do and then jumped back on the air and delivered a solid two weeks on the radio all of this would be funny and forgiven.

Also I think Art doesn't quite understand social media in 2015. All of this shouldn't have played out publicly and I think all the negativity is getting to the machine. But in 2015 people are just bitchy, entitled and complain about everything. That's what people do.

I notice that KABC.COM still has MITD as their top-promoted show.  So either the webmaster doesn't react to Facebook posts too quickly, or KABC is still carrying the show. 

I don't see why Heather can't host three times a week, with Art Bell replays twice a week.  Premiere is still making money every week with Art Bell reruns on SOMEWHERE IN TIME, and those are often TWENTY YEARS OLD.  The nearly 100 episodes of MITD in Keith Rowland's vault are fresh as a daisy in comparison.

I also am flabbergasted that Keith Rowland is paying thousands of dollars a month just to stream an audio broadcast to a meager audience of tens of thousands.  It just doesn't make much sense to me in the age of YouTube and Twitch, where the live streaming is not only free, but they pay YOU when they run an ad they sell for you in front of your stream.  What's the big whoop about being on TuneIn?  More potential listeners have the YouTube app on their iPhone than they have the TuneIn app.  I think the YouTube app is auto-installed on iPhones.

Hoagland should move his show to YouTube and LITERALLY do radio with pictures.

Maybe, however a lot of damage has been done by his seeming rash decision.  What you write is exactly what he should have done IMHO before he announced he was quitting/hanging the microphone up for good and endorsing Heather as the new host of MITD.

Who is going to take him seriously now? The affiliates? His advertisers?

Unless he makes some super huge apology, stating that he was under extreme psychological duress....even then, I'm not sure if that would be enough.

What will be very difficult to explain from my view, is how if being on the air endangered his family, he announces he is hanging up the microphone, yet immediately after that, calls in Friday night when Heather allegedly is hosting the show and takes over interviewing the guest!!!
Then he hands his chair to Heather, but says he may pop in or even host a show once in a while.

How can he/anyone explain that if being on the air is endangering his family....that is why he quit MITD, that it's ok as long as he's doing from Skype in his home vs going to his guest house studio?

If anyone has an answer to that, I'd sure like to hear it.

PRESS RELEASE:
On 12/09/2015 at approximately 2006 NCSO Dispatch received a 911 call from the wife of Art Bell reporting that he was out walking on the property and he had called her from his cell phone to tell her someone had shot at him and then he stopped responding.
NCSO Deputies responded and checked the area. Art Bell was located laying on the ground of his property with no injuries. He reported to responding deputies that he was not sure if the noise he heard was a firework or gunshot.
Deputies did a thorough check of the area and located no one and also did not locate any evidence of gunshots. Deputies maintained extra patrol in the area over the remainder of the week however nothing was discovered. At this point the investigation is closed unless further information is discovered.

It was the rukus caused by the police coming, lights flashing and little Asia being in her room alone, scared and wondering what was going on while the grownups handled things.

Art said that he didn't know about her being so scared and that when he heard about it he made his decision.

I don't think for a second he wants off the air. So if he can drop back in from time to time, wonderful.
